New To Sportsman Network?

I recently replace my fuel lines (and primer) and installed a fuel/water separator. Afterwards I started having hot start problems. I checked my lines, everything looks good. Changed my spark plugs, battery if fairly new, battery connections look fine...Have no problems running. No problems with cold starts...any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Dad and I are fishing in Cocodrie this Thursday-Saturday. I know we're going against some cold weather, but we made reservations 2 months ago...

Could anyone give me some ideas on where the reds and specs are running? If worse comes to worse we can fish the locks, always something there. Was hoping to get on some specs.

Any help is greatly appreciated. God bless!

This weekend I'm making my first trip to Toledo Bend. I am staying in Milam, TX. I would really appreciate if any advice: what areas to focus on, what launch to use (Newell's Point and Emerald's Cove are closest to my cabin), etc.

I'm really looking forward to it, should be nice weather all weekend. Thanks in advance!

Making my first run to Shell's Pipeline in the Basin (near Adam's Landing). Is there any advice anyone can give me? A particular canal/section I should fish? What lures?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Happy New Year's!

Great news. One of the busted lpfp's had to be the issue. Boat ran great today. No problems with hot starts. The smoking was less too. Hopefully I get a good stretch with no problems.

Thanks again for everyone commenting. I really appreciate your time.

Thanks guys. The pumps should arrive today. I'll replace them then make a run.

The water/fuel filter is only a month old, but I will definitely replace it next if the issue is not resolved. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks again for the comments.

I took off the bottom lpfp, squeeze the primer, nothing came out...i pull out the top one, squeezed the primer and gas came out the middle of the back side. Should I replace it?

Thanks again for your help.

I did run the new line as the factory had it. I will double-check this morning if there is a pinch. I'll also empty/clean the fuel filter element.

I'm about to order some new LPFP' I said they are not that expensive, and even though one has been replaced, I'm sure the other two are overdue.

I will keep you updated. Thanks for taking your time to comment.

I don't remember if I had the problem before or not, you know how the mind gets.

I also replaced the fuel line in the motor going to the filter with a regular, alcohol resistant fuel line. Is it a special fuel line that's in the motor?

I had one of the lp fuel pumps changed out last year, not sure which one. This model motor (vx200tlrb) has 3. I'm considering changing all 3, doesn't cost much and it wouldn't hurt. The motor smokes a lot when it starts, from reading other posts online lpfp's could cause that.

Doiron's has maps. I believe Bayside Marina does too. You could also check Ivy's Tackle in Morgan City.

I've never fished a spoon for bass, but they've been getting a lot of attention lately. Do you mind sharing where and what conditions you were fishing?

If I'm flipping/pitching, I'll use a Gama 4/0 superline hook. For punching I like to use Trokar's Flipping Hook (4/0 or 5/0). Try with a snell knot.

I only bass fish, but man have the bream been biting on every soft plastic (even beavers) I throw. I feel bad b/c I normally take out an eye ball. Nice loot!

JB, I'm also a fan of the Dippers. Junebug is a solid color too, especially for dirty water.

As far as rod, I use a Med 7' (Veritas) with my swimbaits.

A comment titled: Swimbaits in response to a report titled: Swim bait questions

I use a few different swimbaits: Strike King's Caffeine Shad & Swim N Shiner, Yamamoto's Swimming Senko, and Zoom's Swimming Fluke (with paddletail). Like most lures, the water color dictates the color used. In clear water, I like watermelon's, green pumpkin's, natural colors (like a gizzard shad). If the water's dirty, I like something chartreuse (I love Yamamotos chartreuse shad in dirty water) or pearl.

If I go weightless, I'll use a EWG (5/0 or 6/0). If weighted I love Owner's weighted twistlocks. Either way, I like a small diameter hook for better hook sets. You want to use the lightest weight possible. I only use Fluoro with swimbaits.

I fish it like a worm almost, I'll cast, let it sink, pop it up, retrieve a little, let it sink...repeat.

Hope this helps.
