Got the yak together with all the necessities! Gonna fish off old La 1. If nothing happens on artificials, I'll pick up, grab some live bait and fish close to one of my roadside hot spot! 2 weeks ago I caught, 17 trout and 1 red. My buddy isn't going so if anyone wants to join, feel free! Good luck!
Going to hit it on Friday! Looking for any current surf reports(looking for trout)! I catch at my roadside locations so that's my fallback. Also, if anyone else is going, possible fish together. I'm looking at throwing catch 2000 and top dog early then Carolina rig some plastics. Roadside is cast net bait! Thanks for any input! Happy Father's Day!
Nice!
I've been fishing different areas in Lake Borgne for the last 3 months. I've never really fished it before. I've been catching flounder (approx. 30 total) , several slot reds, several rats, several trout with a 6 to 1 ratio on small ones to keepers, and several bass. I only use artificial. I've seen people with live bait catching as I pass by. I launch at Campo's and hang on the southern side from Proctor's Point to Biloxi Marsh. It's been fun. I'm going this Saturday again. Good Luck
I just fished Delacroix the Sunday after Thanksgiving. 2 man limit. Live shrimp under cork and bottom. Switched over to tightline bottom and did just as well. Fished last Friday and same story but caught 80-90 keepers with 2 guys. Maybe 30 throwbacks. The areas that people post about do have fish. Try different techniques and colors. Trout are all over but are congregated in some certain areas. Boat positioning is also so important. Try shallow and deep waters as well. Good luck!!
Very nice fish, congratulations! I caught this one on Saturday in Delacroix.
good luck! let me know how you do? if you can, give me a report on water clarity near Elmer's!
Going down to G.I. early in the a.m. this weekend. Trying to get a game plan together. We've exchanged and posted our numbers so we need to put our heads together and do this. Does anyone hit the beaches with the yak too? I'll be helping my buddy repair his yak for the trip so we're definitely gonna be there.
I'm Monday thru Friday, off at 3:30pm. I'm down for afternoon trips to Lake as well or wherever as I live in Metairie. You more than welcome to text or call me anytime 504-317-4386. I will be outta town this weekend though. Be back Monday so, good luck, good fishing and save some for me.
I was riding solo so I played it safe and stayed close to Old LA 1. All I did in the yak was scare some reds away! Haha! The wind was strong! I caught 2 ea. 15' rats and one about 8'. The pinfish are messing up live bait. I tried all of my hotspots with nothing to put in a box. Still had fun. Looking for a yak partner so let me know if you know anyone. Thanks.
I'm thinking about going tomorrow. Got a new yak and wanna try it out. Basic set up but I know how to fish. Not sure if my friend is going with me so I wouldn't mind possibly fishing with someone else. If not I'll pound my roadside spots.
Yesterday results
I fished yesterday instead of today. I caught a few specks in the surf. It was beautiful except for the mass amount of sea weed! Pain in the @$?#! I used live cocahoes, croakers and shrimp. Caught on all three. The devil rays are everywhere! I went back to the road and ended up with about 15 trout and one red. Gotta clean them now. Good luck! Oh yeah, I threw top water but kept snagging weeds!
I have been going the last 4 Saturdays and have been satisfied with my results. I have been catching trout, redfish and bass along the rocks. I donââ¬â¢t concentrate on the wall. I fish several random areas. Some areas may hold fish more often but I believe that currently they are constantly patrolling the rocks. I see people using live shrimp under corks, various jerk baits, and suspending baits along the rocks. Several boats are always at the castle during a falling tide. Sounds crazy but my best luck has been on an incoming tide. That is by chance since like you said, tide charts seem to be far off. Surprisingly, my keeper ratio is higher than I have read from others. I use a different technique with the thought that big fish eat big baits. I suggest to get out there as often as you can, try various techniques and locations, have fun and be safe! Tight lines and filled boxes.
