How's every body doing on the northsore iv hunted both zones with some awsome days and some not so good days iv been having mixed bags from mallards, grays, blue and green wing teal, and a couple spoonies
Just woundering how every body else has been doing on big branch and the pearl
good luck out there!
it was slow for us we got 1 gray,2teal,1 mottle
but with all the shooting out there just wanted to see how every one else did,i know i could see people shooting the coots flying around early in the fog
dont know what the deal was the birds just left out 4 days prior to the opener
hope it pics up out there!
just wanted to see how everybody did in the pearl this morning ....we did ok but had to leave early due to a bday party.....the wood ducks are every where out there!!
ill be back out there in the morning rain or shine!
the hunting wasnt awsome but we did shoot some birds oh and a giant catfish ..... the fog wor us out more than anny thing, a couple days before christmas birds were every were but when we got there they left unless you like dogre, and blue bills we didnt shoot any oh and the canvas backs were every where we would just let them in the decoys you really had to call your shots ...speaking of we would pull into a pond and see them crippled all over the place....any how here are some pics
just curious about everyons first split on how they are doing we are killing ok amounts of birds but nothing like last year.
it has been slow for us and we are not seeing the amout of birds in our fields as compared to last year ..the ony place that has been shooting decent birds is on a cypress lake
...so far iv killed better birds on the north shore
well good luck !!
well me and a buddy whent out this weekend and did great sat we hunted pearl river wma and we shot 6 grays and 6 teal and were done at 9:00 it sounds great but we would have
been done at 6:30 or 7:00 if we werent crowded up with 12 people in the same pond we were that every time we would work up some birds you would see them sky bust. the worst part is we got there first about 15 min before the next crew of two young guys that when they pulled into the pond were pised that we were in THERE SPOT (hello its managment)anny way they set up across from us a good ways they were set up ok but were deff. far enuff away then here we go people just start pulling in left and right when it was daylight i could really see how close everybody was i got raind on twice the good part is i know they got rained on from me because they setup 80 to 90 yards from me heck i could here them talking and i know they could here us cuss every time they would start sky busting.... people who hunt managment land sould scout out at LEASED three spots and if someone is in one of them then go to the next and your hunt will be better than over crowding one pond..im not lying i could see 12 people in sets of two with there boats and there decoys from were we were
the best part is was we were the first people there and the first people th leave
we saw birds there and got limit wich was great
so after all that we decided to biloxi marsh sunday
we left out of the rigolets and when across lake borgn
we say ok amounts of birds we shot 17 one away from a three man limit we got out there about 7:00 and shot the birds till 9:00 or so, so we did good the best part is i didnt have 12 people in the same freaking pond!
anny way i had to vent about the dumd people in pearl river who were in that pond and out of 12 people one of them are going to read this
the less skybusting you do trying to hit or injure the birds we all love to hunt wait 5 min and try working them and your hunting will get better
all sky busting does is edjucate the birds of decoys even more
anny way here are some pics of sat and sunday
This is lat weeks pics at Clayton Farms when the front caim down last week the ducks were more plentiful and were very easy to work we had a blast very few people showed up to hunt and this year is all knew members and every body got along great
good luck
This has been a great year so far for us also with out limits every time but I'm like you I'm glad the low water has finally came I've always done good with low water, but last Sunday when it was supper high I also did good when I thought for sure it was not going to go as well as my other hunts and it proved me wrong ..
.but low water has finally come and my pooch doesn't last quite as long about the 12th bird she kinda slows down a bit in the muck
Continue on the smackdown !!
Good job !! Always good to see the kids out hunting but one quick reminder the last pic of one man limit +1 is also + 2 over on the red heads. I think you can only have 2 .. But it you were hunting two people then you can have four but the one man limit threw me off ....
i like the idea of the whole concept but the funny thing is i allready see and have seen peopele hunt out there on the lake ponchatrain side...next time your driving down the road in betweeen the gas station and the little bridge and a little past the bridge look towards the lake and you will see several blinds out there the locals that have camps there might own that spot but looking at the map on the bottom of this link http://www.fws.gov/bayousauvage/_documents/BS%20Hunt%20Plan.pdf.
it shows it being youth only??
i also think it should be a lottery hunt, just to keep people from piling in there the first couple years and try that first before full on opening it to all the public
Download the newest version and there is a drop down box on the left side of the screen click on layers then more all the way on the bottom and click parks/ recreation areas and they will have a green out line on the map it self
It want say what wma it is but it will show you the boundaries also try loooking on Louisiana wild life and fisheries websight
As far as pearl river wma make sure you watch tide and keep track wile you are out there It will rise and drop fast
Use this link to watch the tide it's at the CSX rail road bridge

I hunt the ponds but you really have to sit out there and learn the fly way
Good luck to ya
That's awsome man glad his lucky strike isn over yet!
Coot I'm glad you got your lucky back just be glad there are some good people still around here
Well with your duck hunting report I think I'm going to stay up here at the camp
I guess you don't call him lucky for a reason
(marshmaster)
We hunted bb on Saturday and did good with two mam limits in one group and 7 in another group that was with us , there was four of us and we finished the day with 21 and we were done at 6:30 but we waited it out for our budies, they whent out this morning and didn't get the same results
Iv been hunting the pearl area also having mixed results there but have been shooting more big ducks here.
That's the main reason why I don't waist my time out there where did you launch at? Because it's going to be crazy there in the morning waiting ans people sleeping in there trucks. Good luck
where is every one hunting at?
im going to the dead zone called the pearl..
but we will see if we cant wake it up when the trumpets start to sound .... its going to be an orcastra (sp) out here ..
god luck
man i cant sleep worth a chit every time i close my eyes i open them only to find out 2 min. past ......cant wait!!!
i have been scouting the past three weeks! trying to get rid of the itch, watch the birds for 2 hours getting me more pumped up! i hope ever bit of souting pays off
oh RIGOLETS
just dont come close to any decoys and you will be ok!
when i go out there the only place i can get it to work is on top of the tug,but you can get service if you are still and not moving much
i have sprint and nextel so i cant speak for all of them
like all far areas its SPOTY
be carefull of the sand flats around there i hunt down there around christmass time and i see it all the time nice bay boats or small fishing boats sitting on there sides stuck like chuck......if you can read the water well you will be ok pluse the storm might keep the water up for ya
good luck to ya!
look on craigs list im sure you can get a motor and boat cheep
here is one i found quick
http://neworleans.craigslist.org/boa/1374656992.html
they also have a used MUD BOAT in slidell at a used car dealer ship
yea on the way out i was ridding through the marsh instead of taking the windy turns....see you there in the morning man...
yea that was me that left out early sorry if i messed you guys up but we had to go early for the party...in that same pond last year that me and you were in there was five differnt groups of people hunting in there
most of the shots you herd my buddy was letting his son shoot his 20 gauge wich was fun to whatch...could you guys here him???LOOK DAD SHOOT DUCKS lol it was fun in the rain out there
we got a few and lost a few due to diving down on us and i didnt bring my dog because when we where scouting i saw tomany gators out there
yea we saw that group of teal on the back side but we were allready in the middle of our deeks....
if we are talking about the same pond i had fired up the mudbuddy twice to go pick up birds
Coot i coudnt agree with you more i rode around all last weekend and now that this weather is here i think it might have pushed some out....even as your last statment said the water is still very very high even last weekend it was high and most of the teal i seen were in the marsh along with the summer ducks ,a few teal in the ponds but i know where im going
i did preaty good one pearl this year you just hadf to get away from all the people
It's cool man just don't want to see ya get caught one day ya know
