I have been using this dexter knife and it works great for those who prefer a real knife !
The knife handles great and if you keep it sharp it goes right through tough red fish or sheep head bones.
He also has videos for cleaning triple tail and other species...

I fished with this captain once and I learned a lot from him that has made many trips since a great success.
Take a trip with him and you will enjoy a great trip and learn a great deal if you’re interested in trout fishing.

I like the Wiley x line

Well built
Safety rated
A little less expensive than most popular lines

There used to be a plantation named magnolia plantation along the river in that general area
That area is called Diamond however
The area you have circled is mostly beyond the levee and is slowly dying brackish woodland/marsh

Check the buoy data
Very low salinity
Water is still very dirty
You should likely try another spot!

I own a flats boat and have fished the Biloxi marsh frequently over the past years
I would focus less on a shallow draft
Its fun to get into shallow areas but I have caught more fish in 3 ft or better depths
All depends on how you want to fish
But I would be looking for a boat to be versatile and be able to adapt to varying conditions
I would look for a boat that is able to cut through rougher water, ie a 20 ft boat or better
Nice live bait well, live wells, and rod and coolers
Pathfinder 22 a good start

I would reconsider the height
I was 16 miles away from Breton sound marina yesterday and broke down in treasure bay
I have a 4 ft Shakespeare Galaxy on a 3 ft poling platform, so 7 ft tall
I tried to hail seatow from channel 16
I could hear the coast guard broadcasting but I could not reach anyone.
I finally moved the boat with the trolling motor and got a cell connection and made the call to give seatow my coordinates

I could finally communicate w seatow after capt rod was on the water heading to me and closer while he was in route

Get a longer antenna if you have the room
It's not going to help you if you can't reach anyone
Get a sea tow membership
Those guys are great!
Get a vhf with a built in gps

I caught one last Friday
I was in a fringe bay adjoining chandeleur sound
We were fishing an old platform location for trout and a clump of floating grass passed by us
He was floating sideways in the grass
We followed him with the trolling motor till he bit a dead shrimp on a jig w a floating cork set shallow

I wanted to get the lowrance gen3
It was not available and I purchased the simrad nss 7 evo
After some heavy research!

Simrad and lowrance are owned by the same parent company
My unit was priced less than a 7' lowrance
It has better features for controls
It has touch screen and a great manual adjustment and input knob
It uses standard map chips
You might want to check it out!
Sea trac in Harahan gave me a great deal and great customer service
