Any suggestions on where to access Maurepas WMA on foot? I'd be coming from Kenner. Do you all use climbers, ground blinds, or stalk and shoot?

Thanks, Dan

Has anyone been hunting Ben's Creek WMA? I'm off work until after New Years, and wanted to do some bowhunting out there. Anybody had any luck out there? Are you using tree climbers or ground blinds?

Does anybody deer hunt in the Bonnet Carre Spillway? If yes, any tips for a new hunter? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on your first hog! Hog hunting is definitely addicting, and makes for some good eating. I took my 12 year old son and one of his buddies to a friend's place in Texas, and we had a great time and filled up the ice chests. I've heard Pearl River WMA has lots of hogs, but I understand it's pretty tough hunting. Big Branch WMA has hogs, but it's bow only. How'd you like Hog Wild? I was thinking of making a trip there. try using rifled slugs first. Me and my 12-year old son went hog hunting at a friend's ranch in Texas over Mardi Gras, and we got 7 hogs between us. My son used 20 gauge rifled slugs in his over and under and they worked great. Stopped the hogs pretty much in their tracks. you want to make sure you use an improved cylinder choke.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try to get out there tomorrow morning to start getting familiar with it. I'd like to get a few bowhunts in before the season closes.
