The weather may not be fall like but it’s closer then you think. September is the starting month of the famous fish transition: bait moving fish following and the birds working and then fisherman going home with filets to make the family happy. Between now and the end of November the fishing around the island will be good to great. So don’t wait to long to book a trip, don’t want anyone to miss out on a great fall run. Got plenty of days open for the coming months all you have to do is call and I can get you on a boat. Thanks Capt. Frank 225-202-2584 frank@laidbackcharter.com

It’s that time of the year, fish all over the island. Good water and low winds produce great fishing. Live bait (shrimp and croakers) have been the call of the day. Give me a call and book a trip for May and June got a few days open and looks like it’s going to be a good summer!! Thanks Capt. Frank 225-202-2584

May 08 at 8:26am

I’ve got the next two Fridays open if anyone wants to make a trip. Fished the last few days and the trout have showed up in number in the cleaner water. Fished all plastic (avocado and ultraviolet) all tight lined. 1/4 to 3/8 lead head depending on the tide and location. Trout are on the bottom with fresh water on top. Slow bounce and retrieve and they pick it up on the fall most of the time, but sometimes they slam it!! Lots of fun. Booked a trip and let’s have some fun on the water!! Thanks Capt. Frank 225-202-2584 frank@laidbackcharter.com

Lots of friends and family on the island this weekend to clean and repair the camp for the coming summer. Fun, hard work, and good food made for a great weekend. Got good reports that trout are biting on plastics all around the island. I’ll be back in the saddle starting this Thursday and got plenty of days open for the coming weeks. Give me a call and we’ll get you on a boat to have some fun. Thanks Capt. Frank 225-202-2584 frank@laidbackcharter.com P.S. That’s a picture of one of the two traffic cameras on the island. Also they have a radar car floating around so watch your speed.

Still catching reds on the island and a few nice trout are starting show up in there spring time areas. Live shrimp have worked well on the bottom and under a cork. 1/8 lead head and matrix shad avocado have out fished the live. Waters behind the island have been real nice the past few days and when the water temp stays hi the fish become real active. It’s starting early this springs so give me a call and I’ll get you on the books to make a fishing trip. Thanks Capt. Frank 225-202-2584 frank@laidbackcharter.com

It’s definitely that time of year. Get the honey do list done and start thinking about fishing for the early spring.
With a short and not so cold winter the fishing will start early this year. Water temps staying up and the shrimp already around the island fish are being caught on good weather days. Nice trout and lots of redfish.
Come join me for some great fishing this March or book a date for the coming months and let’s have some fun on the water.

Thanks Capt. Frank

Time to get fired up about fishing!! The winter has been mild compared to most winters in the past. With the warmer weather the fishing’s going to start early this year.
On and around the island the trout bite has been pretty good on the warmer lite wind days. Work your areas with the bait that you enjoy the most (soft plastics) and go slow.
I’ve been in the lake (Pontchartrain) for part of the winter as well and it’s been pretty good fishing. Working plastics and jerk baits along the MRGO has produced the best results on the last couple of trips.
The calendar for 2019 is wide open so give me a call and book your days for the coming fishing season on Grand Isle.

Thanks Capt. Frank

The trout and reds are showing in numbers. Had a great weekend with a large church group from around south Louisiana. Lots of reds and trout caught on Friday and Saturday. Most caught on live bait under a cork and Carolina rigged on the bottom.
Open now till Monday if anyone wants a trip on the island.
Have special pricing for these few days and then it’s off the Arkansas for a month of deer hunting with my family. So get in on the fun while you can or I’ll see y’all next season.

We have, what I believe to be river water, all over us on the island.
Fished this past weekend and had a lot trouble finding clean water and trout. Both days had around 20 or so trout and a few small redfish.
With dirty water high winds and no tide it almost impossible to catch fish without live bait.
Hopefully the water will clean up and the Lord will bring down the winds so we can get on the beach and open water.

A comment titled: Re: Anyone fishing the Lake on Saturday!! in response to a report titled: Anyone fishing the Lake on Saturday!!

Looks like it went back to 15 to 20 out of the south. The south shore might be good but if the winds have any west in it the seas will get rough. I'm fishing in the marsh, ICWW and around the MRGO. The wall has been holding some fish lately.
With a south or southwest wind the West side of the MRGO should be doable.

Good Luck!!

I'll be fishing in Lake and the surrounding area up till late march. So give me a call if you or anyone you may know wants to make a trip. I charge a flat rate of 500.00 for 1 to 4 people. I'm still learning a lot about the area and how to fish it and when.

No. vudo and live minnows. from the surface to the bottom. Had birds working the area I wanted to fish so as soon as we pulled up it was on. 2 hours and done. Wind got so bad they didn't even want to catch any reds, and I was glad. 30 knots make it hard to move the boat around.

If the wind stays out of the south you can find calm water all behind the island. Grand Terre will also be protected from a south wind and I've been catching a few trout and redfish east of the pumping station along the rocks. Hope this helps.

Hey T-will if the winds are down enough I would and will be on the beach between Grand Isle and Fourchon. The winds the last few weeks have kept us from fish the beaches thats why there are no reports but the fish are there. Live shrimp and croakers.

A comment titled: Charter Boat? in response to a report titled: Googan Guide

Hey redspeck-able, I'm not happy that happen to you, but I know pretty much all the guides on the island and that boat does not look like any of the guides I know. Not to say he's not from some where else. Most guides from the Island don't do that kind of thing to other boaters.
That kind of stuff happens to me all the time and I know how you feel.
Hang in there and keep fishing.

Thanks Capt. Frank
