New To Sportsman Network?

Hey Sportsmen,

I have a question. I am fairly new to deer hunting. I have leased land, built my own stands, cultivated lots of food plots and cleared many a shooting lane. I know how to skin and dress my kills and I even make a pretty good sausage but the thing that I don't know is what to do with the carcasses. Should I just throw it out on the side of the Highway? I mean, that's what I see a lot of other guys doing. I was thinking a really good thing to do would be to dump them where I don't hunt. Out of sight, out of mind. Right?

Thanks!

Sportsmen,

Please secure the empty sacks of deer corn you throw in the back of your truck. I can't drive a half mile in St. Tammany or Washington parishes without seeing a couple of empty bags on the side of the road.

If you are intentionally littering, disregard the previous statement.

Made in the USA. Taurus also makes one (rossi) but those are made in Brazil.

A comment titled: PVC! in response to a report titled: Cajun Anchor

I attached a piece of 2" PVC with a cap on one end to the inside of my boat. I drilled a few holes in the cap for drainage and I used galvanized pipe staps to attach it. I mounted it at an angle so I can slide the anchor in while still standing on the front deck. email me if you need a pic. I can snap one for you.

Another tip-

Put a snap hook on your bow rope and use that for your anchor rope. You don't need much rope for the spear and less rope means less mess!

EDIT TO ADD:

I have a dinky little flat, so you may not want to follow this advice if you have one of those fancy boats!

Poppincork Idea:

West Marine sells some really nice clips in numerous sizes. I use a pair to secure my push pole on the gunnel but I didn't use them for the anchor because I wanted to be able to store the anchor with minimal fuss.

A comment titled: I have a 2003 25 two stroke in response to a report titled: Yamaha Outboards

It runs great until you get water in the gas tank!

Seriously, I like mine. It's a pull start and it takes a few pulls to start when it's cold, but other than that, runs really well. I have a 15x44 flat that is fairly heavy (console, floor, trolling motor, etc) and will go 25 mph (GPS)with 400 lbs of men in it. I've had it up to 28 with my wife on board and a tail wind.

Can you still get a two stroke?

I was thinking about the other gun control post lower down (1022). I went to the NRA website and saw that it's current. Thanks for posting the info.

That's the same email that's been going around for a few months now. I'm not saying that congress isn't going to try to pass gun control legislation, but there's nothing on the table right now that I'm aware of. Trust me. When it gets to the floor, we'll know about it.

A comment titled: Correct me if I am wrong please in response to a report titled: Gun Registration Question

When you buy a new or used gun from a dealer, your name and address, along with the guns make, model, serial, etc, are logged into the dealers 'bound' book. Those records are supposed to be kept forever. The background check paperwork (NICS)is supposed to be destroyed after a certain period of time.

If you buy from an individual, then no records or background checks are required. That is what is referred to as the 'gunshow loophole'. What many politicians want to do is make it illegal for individuals to transfer firearms without the use of a dealer and having the background check performed.

In my opinion, if you buy or sell with an individual, you should at the very least get the information from his/her drivers license.
