New To Sportsman Network?

This is for Col. Winston Vidrine. How can you require a person to fill out a daily use permit but fail to keep them readily availably. I have personally watched a game warden give a humble man a ticket for teal season because he did not fill out a permit. The gentlyman stated to the game warden there were no permits in the box. the warden said well you should have drove around the WMA and found a box with one. Now that is foolish. Ppl do work for a living and having to leave a xtra hour early in case the box is empty so you can find one and make it to your hunt on time. Now the gentleman and the game warden were both standing 20 feet from the box. and the warden even checked the box and said that is not my problem. Now this guy got a ticket from a guy doing his job because someone else did not do theirs and replace the permits. Spring Bayou and Dewey Wills both have had empty boxes this week. So do i go hunting without one or do i drive aimlessly around the WMA hoping the next one has a permit. And you wonder why hunter numbers are declining. Now supposed this guy talked his kid onto comming with him and this happened. What kind of message would this youth have gotten. Also the guy did not fire a shot that morning. Did not kill anything and got a stupid ticket.this same incident also happened in Red River except the guy only got a warning ticket. Luckly. that game warden told him also to go to the next box. which was 8 miles away down a rough gravel road. now that is crazy. We as hunters only ask if you require it provide it for me.........

Has anybody heard of the huge Ducks Unlimited project going on in the Louisiana Delta north farms towards Jonesville. They are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to conserve land that belongs to the freaking greedy delta owners that are not even from La.. Georgia i think they are from.. when i say conserve i mean twelve months of dirt work building waterfowl impoundments and all the trimmings..and the delta can still lease it out to farmers and make their usual rent money.. so it is a win win situation for the owners.. Oh and the good part is that anybody can buy a share in this wonderful duck paradise for roughly $400,000. Thats right not just the rich can get in this honey hole. anyone with 400,000 burning a hole in thier pocket can get in.. Oh an another thing is they will provide a nice place to hang out with the fella and stuff.. They will have a rustic little lodge for you to hang those dirty wet hip boots at when you call it a hard day in the blind.. I think the rumor is 1.9 million for the logde..Shucks it is time a place like this came to my back yard.. Now i can get out of that expensive hunting lease i am in and join this one.. Hope to c ya their fello hunters.. hahaha Naw for real the dirt work have been going on for months now.. if you dont believe me just ask a delta farmer.. well guess i am going to watch this nice ELK hunt on the world of Duck Unlimited..Oh and tommorrow its a re-run bout fly fishing in a swift moving stream that DU is conserving. I don't lie. the sign on the bank of the fly fishing guys said "this steam is conserved by ducks unlimited" in huge letters. Who would of thought it. a 6 inch deep white water trout steam loaded with greenheads.. man i knew i been hunting in the wrong places wasting my time in cypress brakes and backwater sloughs.. oh well

A comment titled: Not their fault in response to a report titled: To LDWF

I know it is not the enforcement's faulr to stock the box but it is their fault to use proper judgement when no permits are present to not write a ticket. after all it is their Dept fault for not doing their job and putting new ones back.. they stay out for days and days not just a few...

A comment titled: read this in response to a report titled: flotation device

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Law Enforcement Division (LDWF/LED) is advising boaters to be aware of new boating regulations, effective July 1, 2008, that affect hand tiller outboard motorboats and towed water sports participants.

The LDWF/LED researched boating incident statistics to determine factors that would reduce boating accidents and boating accident fatalities. Based on recommendations prompted by that research, new recreational boating regulations were implemented by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission. From July 1 forward, anyone boating recreationally in Louisiana waters should be aware of the following:

Anyone onboard a vessel less than 16 feet (Class A), propelled by a hand tiller outboard motor is required to wear a Type I, II, III, or V United States Coast Guard approved personal floatation device (PFD) while the vessel is underway. A hand tiller outboard is described as an outboard motor that has a tiller or steering arm attached to the outboard motor to facilitate steering and does not have any mechanical assist device which is rigidly attached to the boat and used in steering the vessel, including but not limited to mechanical, hydraulic, or electronic control systems. This does not include any type of electronic trolling motor.

Anyone onboard a vessel less than 26 feet (Class A and Class One), propelled by hand tiller outboard motors in excess of 10 horsepower, is required to use an engine cutoff switch while underway, if the outboard motor is equipped with such device. An engine cutoff device can be described as an operable emergency cut-off engine stop switch installed on a hand tiller outboard motor and that attaches to the motorboat operator by an engine cut-off switch link. These regulations do not apply to sailboats and vessels engaged in licensed commercial activity.

Persons engaged in water sports, which includes but is not limited to waterskiing, towing a tube, wake boarding, wake surfing, etc... must wear a Type I, II, III or V PFD. An inflatable PFD does not meet the requirement. Vessel operators cannot tow a water sports participant who is not wearing a PFD. Certain exceptions are applicable for marine events that have been issued a permit by LDWF/LED and/or the United States Coast Guard.

A comment titled: DU Sucks in response to a report titled: Don't show your ignorance

All i hear from them is money money they need more money..Most of their member that do have a lil money are only in DU for the status. Thats crazy aint it. It is cool if you rich and are in DU. If you want to give your money to anyone besides me (haha) give it to Delta Waterfowl.. At least they do something about predator control on Delta Waterfowl maintained land.. Du said they do no predator control just leave the natural balance and put up some nest and everything will be fine..The first thing Delta waterfowl does is hire a professional traper to get rid of all predator to a duck within the laws.. I do like the fishing shows that DU has.. if you like trout fishing.. I saw one the other nite two guys fly fishing in a swift river bout a foot deep catching trout.. the huge sign at the landing said this river restored and sponsored by DU. I never killed any duck in a very swift rocky stream.. maybe you have..
