Dear Capt. Paul: I recently wrote to you about the data card on my Garmin 182c not reading and you posted the article in the April La. Sportsman so, I am wrting today to give you the results. Fist let me thank you for all the valuable information you wrote about backing up routes and waypoints, this was very helpful and beneficial. After writing to you last month I was flipping through the Sportsman and I saw the add for Sea-Trac out of New Orleans so I thought I would give them a call. I told the technician, Todd about the unit and the problem and he said he thought they could fix it thinking it may have been a bent pin or something minor on the card reader, so I sent the unt to them and he called me then next day that he had it fixed stating that a wire had come loose off the card reader and he soldered it back together. I recieved the unit yesterday, 3/28/13 and everything is working fine. They did not loose any data, routes or waypoints while repairing the unit and also upgraded to the newest software version. I am very pleased with the repair done since I was able to reapair a $1,000.00 color GPS for $150.00 including shipping and labor. I guess this would be beneficial to your reader because I am sure there are a lot of GPS owners that just buy new ones because the manufacturer no longer supports these units. I strongly suggest checking with Sea-Trac in New Orleans before buying another unit in this situation. I know I saved a lot of time by not having to run new wires and install a new unit in my 22' bay boat. Again thanks for your time and information and hopefully this will healp another boater or fisherman, because they said they fix many of these units. Hope to see you on the water one day,

Captain Paul I have a Garmin 182c that is not reading the data card with Topo Map source on it. I have 2 friends that have the same unit and their units are reading my data card. I tried their cards in my unit and my unit dose not read their cards. I called Garmin and they sent me the data card 6.0 update to update my unit but it would not work in my unit, so I called them back and was told the data card reader in my unit is bad and they no longer support this unit. I was wondering if you know anyone who can fix the unit or where I may get another unit 2nd hand because I have all the attachments and really like the unit. This unit was purchased in 2001.I just thought maybe you had a good idea on what to do since I like the unit so much. my e-mail is randave1@bellsouth.net
I am looking for GPS fishing spots on Lake St John in Concordia Parish, Louisiana. I have never been there, and will be taking my wife and son there in a few weeks. Do you have any good spots on this lake for bass fishing? Or know how to get a good map of the lake?
thanks

Hi Captain Paul,
I am interested in information on your Individual Tutoring sessions. I recently purchased a Garmin G.P.S. for my flatboat but have not yet used it. I fish mostly in Hopedale and plan on doing more in the Chef and Rigolets areas this year.
Many thanks!

I would like to have a gps that sounds like chris rock. A funny comedian with black lingo. It would be so funny to here my gps telling me what to do in his crazy black man language. can it be done?
Do any of these the Lake mechant, lost lake, and sister lake areas of dularge? William.Abke@c-a-m.com
I bought a used Garmin GPSMAP 76Cx to use in my kayak so that I can find my way into and out of the marches, as I fly fish. It came with the old BlueChart MicroSD data card for the Mobile to Lake Charles area that is dated July, 2008.
Would I be wise to upgrade to the new BlueChart g2 chip? (The GPSMAP 76Cx is a compatible device ... at least for now.)
Thanks!

Captain Paul,
I am looking to fish out of La France Marina near Waveland, Ms and fish Blind Bay, False Month Bay, Kennedy's Lagoon and the Northeast part of the Biloxi State Wildlife Management Area. Which set to waypoints includes these areas? My E-Mail address is donsailors@windstream.net
Thanks,
Don
Captain Paul: I understand that you have had some health issues, and hope you are doing well.
I spoke (via internet) with you about a year ago regarding problems I had with my Garmin GPSmap62st.
I am still not able to use the Garmin--maybe I'm to old for that. Are you able to provide "one to one" tutorship at your home as I recollect that you did before your health problems. If so, I would like to spend an hour, perhaps 2, so that I can finally figure out how to use the Garmin.
Thanks

Captain Paul,
I have been following and waiting for the Captain Paul GPS waypoints for the Venice area. I saw that you said you may have them complete by the end of the summer but I do not see them on the website. Are they finished, if not, do you have a date of when you think they will be complete? Thanks so much. My reply email is ryanretif@gmail.com. Thanks again for all the work you do in the Louisiana area.

Hey Captain Paul. I remembered your saying Garmin was one of the better GPS units, so I went out and got one. It's an e-tech 20, with those little sd cards. DO you deal in the micro SD stuff ? If so, can I get detailed maps for just southeast Louisiana ? I called Garmin, but they want over $100 and want to give me the entire southern U.S.. I don't need all that. Lake Pontchatrain, Louisiana Marsh, Hopedale/Shell Beach is about all I need. Just for fishing. Not sure how much memory maps like that would take(or how to load it up) but this thing has a 4GB SD card. I think that should hold what I'm looking for.
I'm snipe401@bellsouth.net. Drop me a line if you get a chance
