quick trip to Lafitte

June 09, 2015 at 7:28am

Had a chance to chase tarpon from a yak this past week in Florida. Full report @

June 10, 2014 at 7:09am

Was able to break away and took a stroll down to Golden Meadow. Water was clear in most areas, water temps were 53-54 degrees, overcast, and raining at times. Started in the pond by the pump station, landed somewhere around 30-40 trout in an hour, but could only keep about 1 out of every 10, then the pumps turned on and shut the entire area down. From there moved to catfish lake in search of more trout and some reds. Picked up 5-6 trout on the way to the lake on topwater, some good size, some tiny,(see pic), also found a nice little hole on the way out that was full of reds, didn't take 45 minutes to land 8 reds, and I kept 5 of them. Moved around the lake a good bit picking up a trout here and there and then the rain came. Started my way back to the launch around noon 30 with a solid bag of fish. Ended with a limit of reds and 21 specs for the day. Caught specs on matrix shad tiger bait on jig head, spook jr, and some on a corkey, caught all the reds on a matrix shad, site casted every one, had to sit it on the bottom in front of them, they wouldn't take anything moving, had to crawfish it through the mud right up to em.

cold, wet, fun day

Good fight with a red and then I was surprised with some fins in the distance and then a small tsunami as it approached..

December 25, 2012 at 6:34pm This is a video put I together from 2 trips within a 12 hour period last week. thanks to wingman for accompanying me to leeville and going in blind, and thanks to my brother for mustering up the courage to take your first kayak fishing trip. Sorry we didnt get into the the 40 inch reds as promised, but that sheepshead and black drum gave you all you could handle from my POV. HAd a great time and saw some new waters, looking forward to another Leeville trip and one to the MINES as everyone calls it very sooooon. Merry Christmas to everyone, hope you enjoy.

Good evening in the lake with my daughter. Was able to set up an extra chair in the back of the yak and my daughter had a blast realing em in. I can remember when my dad used to check me out of school early, this one will be memorable. All on artificial keeping it right about the grass about a foot and a half off the bottom. Reasonably fast retrieve, chicken on a chain cocahoe and H&H glow with chartreuse.

I am considering hitting the rocks this week in a kayak, I know it maybe a challenge , I am wondering how strong the currents around the split of the Mr go and intercoastal and will the rocks be fishable from a kayak. Or am I out of mind to even consider this approach. Thanks for any help. Ur reports have been great.

Yep that was me. I put in off 39, it was a hike, especially being against the wind all the way there.

Most of them where caught on the shoreline of lake borgne around alligator point, and a few reds were caught in lake catherine. Some where caught on gulp shrimp and some caught on avacodo and red tail cocahoe. A few reds on spoons and beetle spins.
