still hammering the greys and occasional scaup teals seemed to have vanished but I even got a great big green head such a relief to shoot a few birds

November 25, 2014 at 8:43pm

Hunted this morning till 1100am we all shot a few which is great that's all I need is to have a few shots unlike last year. when I made 8 hunts and never shot anything. so was a great day. I talked to a friend they had 8 men in there group in PAC WMA they all got there limit. That's a good sign for sure.

November 15, 2014 at 6:37pm

Folks can't say for certain they were headed to Venice but they were sure flying that way. Yesterday while doing some blind work in leeville saw wave after wave of south bound high flying ducks. Someone in Venice should have a good hunt. P.A.C. WMA is also loaded with good ducks. That's all I got hope it helps.

November 14, 2014 at 6:06am

October 31, 2014 at 5:52pm

Hunted Thursday morning. Saw three teal shot three teal. Rode for a hour saw maybe a dozen. Widgeon grass hydrilla every pond chocked full . Saw two pintail and lots of mottle ducks. Folks I have been hunting this area for years. Oh well it is what it is .

September 26, 2014 at 8:47pm

September 11, 2014 at 1:20pm

Well Mr Allen Miley Landed his first red fish yesterday and several more after that. Red fish were eating minnows on bottom in leeville 01/10/2014. I think another boy might be hooked on red fishing.

January 11, 2014 at 7:40am

I really am not trying to keep the debate going. I am just curious as to how someone comes up with a number to how many ducks La. kills each year the only time I have been asked was at the HIP part of the lic. and now you don't even get asked they just give it to u. A friend from way down south told me if the you get that info off HIP Cajuns love to brag well so do red necks and so do rich folk when it comes to hunting and fishing. Just curious.

December 31, 2013 at 10:13am

Here is a leeville report. Nothing we have made 8 hunts and not fired a shot. Two were opening day. I am glad for you guys that have leases that usually hold ducks and that you have been getting some. In leeville we usually get the scraps and I am good with that. But no scraps this year. I never thought I would say this but I am done for the year. Sure its not all about killing, but there is a limit for every man and I just reached mine. My son working on a job in Kansas says there are even more ducks and geese and no one shooting them. He is making contacts for me I think I will just take a week off next year and get it out of my system up that way. But the fishing very good this year gonna work on that hope everyone has a great new year.

December 28, 2013 at 10:01am

well my son is still in Kansas on a job through all the ice and weather the ducks have stayed in the fields and flooded areas> he said every field and pot hole is loaded. just passing it on.

December 09, 2013 at 8:35pm

Well three blinds 1 grey heard one pond in the marsh at Leeville shot consistently. Nothing in the air. Oh well had coffee in the boat and fried sausage. wasn't a total loss. Got to have the 8 million BAD DAYS TO APPRECIATE the very few good days that are left way down south.

November 09, 2013 at 5:03pm

October 31, 2013 at 9:00pm

I try to make a hunt here every year I have found the people respectful and helpful in the interest of the sportsman brother hood here is some info from the FDWF I think you will find it the way La. used to be give it a try one year

Duck Hunting

In general, waterfowl hunting in Florida is permitted on any water body that has public access, unless it is closed for a specific reason, such as being in a park or in an area where the discharge of firearms is prohibited. Wildlife management areas (WMAs), water management district (WMD) lands, and national wildlife refuges (NWRs) that offer duck hunting may have special permit requirements and restrictions on when and where you can hunt. Regional offices of the FWC can provide additional information on WMAs and other duck hunting areas. Please check with local law enforcement agencies for specific firearm discharge regulations on public water bodies prior to hunting.

September 20, 2013 at 12:10pm

well me and the girls hunted baptise colleit there were about 3 or 4 boats across from us that shot all morning. Happy for them one teal came in all morning. oh well at least we were out.

September 14, 2013 at 4:07pm

Ok guys I went to venice today baptize colliet and around. Man the grass looks great this year. But we rode to all the places we hunt and rode and rode. I burned 7 gallons in my gator tail. found 1 small concentration of a couple of flocks. And I am sure the other folks scouting found the very small group. last year we had no grass and no birds this year grass and no birds. Yes I am going anyway. Sorry wish I had better news.

September 12, 2013 at 9:12pm

A comment titled: Go else were in response to a report titled: Warning

Boys boys boys !!! Except it greed has about killed sportsman camaraderie. If your able save a little vacation time and hunt other states all other states in the nation if you can get to it by water not land but by water you are not trespassing land is private but not water . If you get out of the south which I do love you will find land owners who welcome you the way it use to be before the almighty lease began. I joined a small lease and I still can't bring myself to try and run off a fisherman. I had the time of my life this year hunting out of state. Never paid a penny to hunt on grain fields. Didn't know the folks before. Flying is cheap and so are rentals. I hunted pheasants geese grouse and ducks all limits and no fees except out if state Lic very cheap not like la and ms. Met new hunting friends they couldn't believe you have to pay to hunt.

A comment titled: state collecting in response to a report titled: duck stamp by vendor

from what I was told in my phone conversation it all has to do with the lic issuing company contracted to the state. the people that issue the lic is a private firm or so I am told and the federal duck stamp is being bought through the same contract. Does the state get any of the profit I don't know but according to the state and the lic issuing company, it starts through the state.

A comment titled: youth hunt in response to a report titled: Please tell me about post-season Youth hunts

well I had talked to maybe you or someone expressing my desire to have the youth hunt stay the week before in the costal zone. but the last two years we haven't done much ducks not there. When I first started hunting in the late 80,s I hunted a lease at hackberry and the youth hunt was two full weeks after the end of regular duck season. that was great. ONE week is not enough if at the end let it needs to be at least be two weeks after

A comment titled: very few in response to a report titled: Leeville Marsh

We have a small 1000 acre lease in leeville used to do ok some days very good. I have yet to kill a duck this year. Hunted fronts in the rain etc etc. the few grey ducks and teal we saw seemed to be suffering from PTSD in fact I haven't fired a shot. Got checked by the game wardens for the first time in 5 years they thought I was the spot that has been shooting and shooting when no one else has been shooting. pointed them in the right direction. very polite and professional.

The biggest problem is the water is now as salty as the gulf no feed of any sort. marsh is washing away by feet every year. hope that helps in your question

Well not that would surprise anyone but our 1500 acre lease in leeville had no ducks. Of course we have no feed left at all its completely saltwater and loosing ground every year. but we usually have a few greys by know was on the lease at dark and daylight saw a band of hoodies was it. Ducks galore says my truck driving friend in the mid states. the flooded corn and bean fields are full.

A comment titled: gator tail in response to a report titled: Prodrive vs Gator tail pros and cons

well I am old 55 I am on my 2nd gator tail will not go back to a long tail unless I hunt in a swamp were there is lots of Cyprus then I would go long tail. a gator tail in Cyprus will be your arm to death. I bought my gator tail because of instant reverse pro drive is a good motor I have two friends that have them. and I can back up at the landing with ease. I have never needed full power reverse and they don't use there because it seems to be a hassle. but it does work. and I hunt a lot there is plenty of power in my reverse to do all I need it to. its dependable and service after the sale has been great.
