Good afternoon all, Was wondering if anyone would be willing or know of anyone that might be interested in sub-leasing a pond in the Dularge area for Duck season. Hunted with a person last year who gave up the lease this year and we are stuck with 0. Let me know if anyone knows of anything. Thanks!
Hoping to get some wisdom on a motor issue...
Was running down Bayou Dularge 90% throttle and my outboard motor killed. It is a late 1990's 115hp Johnson. Well put it in neutral and tried to refire and get underway. Motor was real sluggish (like a dead battery.) I toggled to my other battery which was a little worn after 3 days out and both batteries were sluggish. I finally got it fired but the motor ran really ruff and would kill at idle. I opened it up to get to the launch as long as I stayed away from high throttle it ran but hi-throttle would kill it again. I didn't have time to mess with it Sunday evening, but I plan to check a few things out. Charge batteries, spark plug, check fuel, fuel line. I have been reading a little and hear maybe a rectifier or stator?
Any other thoughts or ideas.
Thanks.
Chris
Hey Guy's and gal's,
Anyone been perch jerkin yet? I am most familiar with upper Lafitte. I don't want anyone's spots but just an idea if they have come into the shallows yet or if they are still in deeper water... The weather looks good for a trip on Friday with the kids(ages 10, 7, and 3). Yes and they all love to fish. So any help would be great.
Hello all,
Looking at trying a bass fishing trip. I haven't really bass fished before. I have a lot of perch jerked and salt water fishing experience.
I am looking at maybe trying upper Lafitte. Bayou Gauche, Salvador, Des Allemands, or bonnet carrey spillway. Any info would be a help. Baits... presentation... deep water. shallow??? Looking at maybe going Sunday.
Not looking for locations. Just a little advice.
Thanks
Hello all,
I was planning on taking the wife out fishing this week in the boat. Kinda caught between a perch jerking trip and a redfishing trip. My usual spots are in Bayou Gauche for perch jerking. Curious if anyone is catching anything out there right now... The second thought was to go in upper Lafitte Salvador, The Pen, Bayou Perrot, or Bayou Rigolets if I go that rought reds would be the hunted.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. It has been a long time since the wife has been out and I just want something to tug on the end of the line for her...
Thanks
Hello all, Was wondering if anyone has been in the bonnet carrey spillway lately. I was thinking of makin a crawfishing/ fishing trip. Never crawfished before. Any thought's or recommendations would be great.
Hey Guys,
I was curious about the lafitte area. I haven't fished it in years. I was gonna try to make a run and fish Lake Salvador for reds, trout, whatever bites... Not looking for any honey holes. Curious what the action is like in the area. Are the reds and trout in there right now or do I have to run all the way to little lake?
or do I stick with perch jerking in Bayou Gauche? Went earlier in the summer and caught some nice perch and catfish...
Let me know what you think please.
Thanks to all
Taken a ride to Grand Isle the weekend of 6/7-10. I have been hearing the usual reports about trout on the beach. I was curious what the situation is with crabs in the surf. We have gotten skunked the last few years in June. Not looking for secrets just curious if anyone has caught any or not. A lot of extra gear to lug if there aren't any down there. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.
Hello all,
I am thinkin of makin a trip to the Grand isle fourchon area to fish of the side of the road.
Anyone know what the conditions are like down there right now, oil, fish, wind, gnats... I haven't been since october or so. Any info would be great. I want my sister and her boyfriend to hook up to something down there...
Does anyone know a place that is trust worthy to do a repair on a 1976 15hp johnson. I am not quite sure what the problem is. I had the carborator cleaned and fuel pump looked at. It just will not fire up. My next though is the spark plugs any ideas... Please.
Morning all,
I am making a trip to Grand Isle to fish Thursday. I was planning on fishing the pier at night for trout. I haven't been in a while. I was also gonna do some off the road fishin with my father in law and son in a 12ft flat. I usually fish the marsh by Fouchon and the pits. I have spots and i am not lookin for soemones spots. I am just curious if the trout and reds have started to show up yet. Any stories are greatly appreciated...
Oh yeah and how bad are the gnats... My son is 4.5years old.
If ya catch my drift.
Chris
I was thinkin about fishin the Bayou Gauche area. I fished there 8months or so ago and got scunked. I have a 12ft flat. Any ideas of places i can go and get my son and wife in one the fish.Catauchie, Des allmends, spillway,????
Thanks,
Chris
yeah Dredger... rough start we had a couple birds here and there this weekend. Shot a pair of widgeon. Hadn't seen a widgeon in years 20+. Perfect conditions on Sunday just nothing moving and no one hunting. Strange... and we have that slime u talking bout.
Nicely done!!!! Still gives me goosebumps thinking about my first hunt with my son. Was it all greys u guys saw or teal also? best of luck for the season!!!!
Guys, I am looking for a pond not trying to sublease a pond to someone. Sorry I think you misunderstood.
Thanks for the update. We gonna try this weekend in the weather. With all the SE wind we should have plenty water. Will update. Saw some birds last time out no one out hunting by us though.
Good huntin!
Hey dredge, u guys still seeing birds down by ya'll? We made a trip last week and shot a grey and a teal (blue wing) between my son and I and didn't see to much else around. Good opening weekend of the first split but we been slow lately...
Good to see someone had a good hunt out there. Last weekend was terrible. We have a lease in deer bayou/bayou fred area. Where are you guys located? Was contemplating whether or not to go this weekend after last weekend. Only shot one grey in 2 hunts.
Thanks for the help guys. I ended up bringing it in to the shop. Hopefully with a painless result. I am still hoping to hit the next hunting split. My son shot his first duck and is pretty hooked...
Thanks and be safe on the water.
Plugs and battery are good. Runs ruff still at idle. Carb clean?
Hey Hunter,
Personally i would stick to the bridge as long as the tide is moving. If the fish are there you will see them in the water. Another thing my kids really enjoy is to walk the beach at night with a flash light and catch and release fiddler crabs. It was hilarious last time they did it...
Good luck and enjoy.
Yeah went down 2weeks ago. Trot line (w/ chx necks) in the surf on a falling tide yielded about 4 dozen in the afternoon. All were nice and full.
Good huntin...
Well weather was beautiful. Got a late start around 11:00 or so. Water was nice but the bite was slow. It was there but real slow. Live worms 2ft under a cork. The kids had a blast as usual. We fished till about 3 or so. Caught about 20~25 perch. I think if we would have been there earlier bite may have been better. Still a little early in the year also.
Good luck to all.
Going run out of Des Allmends tomorrow. We will see. Gonna bring the wife and all kids so wish us luck.
Chris
Anyone fish further up in Salvador area lately? Trout, Redfish, anyfish... ??? Any luck.
anyone been out in Bayou Gauche lately. Haven't been since late May. Fish still hungry? Might try on Sunday with kids.
Bayou Gauche has been good. live worm under a cork about 2'. My kids caught about 30 nice ones in about 2.5hrs. Let me know if u need more info. I can get ur little one happy with plenty of fish.
I ain't given up... Just regrouping. Thanks to everyone for there input.
Didn't make it down to Temple. Saw the water in wildlife refuge and couldn't pass it up. Fishing in 3~4ft of water and looking at the bottom. It was gorgeous... I agree I probably would have needed to slow down just a hair.
Son and brother-in-law still had a nice time out.
No luck guy's. Decided bayou gauche. Water was nasty in normal perch jerking spots. Fished some other long isolated canals. Water was beautiful but u could walk across the boats. And no fish. Tried for Sacalait, bass,...
Should have stuck with instinct and run to salvador. .
Anyone have any luck???
Thanks for ur help. Any help is appreciated when ur a 'rookie' bass fisherman.
jb what water depth should i be looking to target?flats or a little deeper water. Ur comment about redfish makes me want to chase them too. :)
Any thoughts on Sacalait?
Very nice on the pintail. Yeah we haven't fired a shot in two hunts. I agree definitely, more birds on non north wind directions also more water. We had no water at all last weekend. Not good. Think we are taking the weekend off this weekend and gonna roll again final weekend...
