I only kill mature bucks and usually 8 points are better but I think this deer is at least 4.5 years old and I might should take him if I see him even though he is only a 7 Point. What you guys think?
Still trying to meet up with him but we have been on different schedules.
Do you think he is taunting me? LOL...
This is a great shot of a nice buck I caught on my camera when I checked it yesterday. We are just North of St. Francisville.
Looking for a good guided place to duck hunt for a few days. Anyone have some suggestions on good places to stay and kills some ducks? Would be me and my 2 sons.
Would like to stay in South La. if possible Gueydan maybe???
We fished from daylight until 11:15 this morning in Pigeon. We caught about 45 bass total with 9 keeper size. We released all fish biggest fish 2.5lbs. We caught 4-5 between. 2 - 2.5lbs.
Overall had a fun day fishing. The water wasn't moving near as much today as last weekend.
We fished Fayette Res. in Texas on Saturday morning and ended catching a few fish. We finished with around 10 fish but all were over 3lbs. with largest going around 6.
Do you need to have a notarized bill of sale on an ATV sale in Louisiana?
I want to sell my ATV but didn't realize I had to keep the registration current. Do I need to get the registration renewed before I sell or not worry about it?
I hate to go to the DMV...
I know these guys are smarter than I am so please somebody tell me why you would start cutting the pipe from the bottom? Does it have tension on both ends?
I got this email from my cousin who works with these guys.
FRIENDS OF MINE WERE FISHING LAST FRIDAY AND HEARD A GUY SHOOTING A 22 RIFLE OFF IN THE DISTANCE AND DIDNT THINK ANYTHING OFF IT. THEY KEEP FISHING AND THE GUY KEEP SHOOTING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ONE OF THE GUYS HEARD THE OTHER ONE SCREAM IVE BEEN SHOT! A BULLET REFLECTED OFF THE WATER AND HIT HIM IN THE ARM RIGHT AT HIS ELBOW AND WENT ALL THE WAY THROUGH HIS ARM!
This happened in Belle River on Saturday. The police were called but never found the shooter. I know it was probably an accident but people need to use some common sense when shooting a rifle. If anyone knows who this is please let the police know or please tell them to stop shooting .22 rifles around fisherman if they are not sure where the bullet is going.
MEMO: A .22 IS A RIFLE AND CAN KILL SOMEOONE...
It just seems I have seen more big deer killed this year than ever before.
I will post pics when I get home today
My cusion and I braved the bad weather yesterday and
Decided to sit in a box together he shot a huge 13 point around 5 pm.
I can't find .270 ammo to save my life. Anybody know why it is so hard to find? I know it is hunting season but usually I can find some at least online. I have searched everyone with no luck.
I like to shoot x2703 Winchester 130 grain SilverTips but just find it very odd everyone is out of most all types of .270 ammo right now.
Ok I am thinking of selling my ATV and getting an EZ Go Cart(or another brand) golf cart with the lift and mudd tires made for hunting. Can anyone shed some light on if this is a good idea? I don't go through bad mudd holes but do hunt on a creek. I want something more quiet. How powerful are they? Expensive to keep up? Quiet?
I am going to Spillway in the morning and was just wondering what the water was like?
What tide chart location do you go by for Bayou Black area? Also, I am sure it is the best on the falling tide but anything else I need to know?
I am going Friday for the first time so any help to catch a few fish would be appreciated. Nothing specific just maybe a general location and what to look for besides moving water.
Any dangers in running my boat I need to be aware of?
Thanks in advance....
I saw the water is under 14' at Butte La Rose so I was wondering if anyone had been to see if the bass were biting or if the water was clear?
Sorry for the bad quailty pics.
What a hunt! I killed this deer yesterday at 4:10 in the afternoon. It was the 23rd deer I saw including 3 other bucks. I got on my stand at 3:00(which is late but I was working until 2:00)and the deer were moving non stop. I knew yesterday was going to be a good afternoon but never thought it would be this good.
BTW: It was killed North of St. Francisville off Spillman Rd. and Hwy. 967.
You are bulking everyone in a group just like you claim in your post you do like when people do it. I fish Miracle Network tourney and that is all and I am against a no size limit rule.
And just like in your post why fish if you worried about money you spend? It is a hell of a lot cheaper to buy fish in the store than to go catch them so just do that! I am not against keeping fish I do it from time to time as well but I do not keep any bass with size or more than 5 a trip its just my way of preserving some thing for future generations. Again, if I was so worried about the money it cost me NOT to bring home fish I would just make a run to Tony's seafood and buy all the fish I want!
and having a different opinion then you they are considered 'crybabies'?
Way to have a mature conversation about the issue!
I could do the same to you let me try:
I don't get these people who feel the need to keep every fish they catch because 'They spend money fishing'! Wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy your fish instead of wasting all the money and time trying to catch them?
White/Chart/Blue is a can't miss in Verret and Spillway but sometimes all white is what they want as well.
I have been extremely happy with mine so far in the 4 years I have owned it. I think a Z8 would be a great boat as well so don't let the bulletin boards scare you off. As long as you have a dealer that is good then you will be fine.
Water is real muddy in most areas but water temps are:
At Attakapas Landing: 58.5 degrees
In Bayou Sherman: 63.4 degrees
If the cows are in the green fields no use even hunting there because the deer will not come around. I know in other areas deer and cows feed together but at our place North of St. Francisville they do not! Not sure why but I have been there 10 years and it has always been that way...
I say about 17-18' inside.. Tines are long and have good mass(depending on where you hunt of course)...
I think this is the deer from last year I was meaning to post!
200lb deer where I hunt is a BIG deer...
I killed an 8 point earlier this year that was 198lbs and it doesn't look as big as this one.
Now last year I had this man on camera in the same spot but yet to see him this year...
BUT they do not hunt close often nor do I worry about that to much. If they kill him they kill him nothing I can do about it.
I was just more thinking about if he is declining yet...
I hunt on a private 230 acre plot where only 2 people hunt. We have no box stands or management program I only kill mature bucks because we are lucky enough to have a good population of deer. I see no reason to kill deer that are not mature WHERE I HUNT! Everything is relative. I am not sure what you are getting at.
Everytime I fish that area I have about the same results. Alot of fish but no size. Then by end of March Pat's bay is grassed over.
I sure wish I knew where to go in Lafitte. Seems like a lot of bass are caught out of that area but I have never fished there and have no clue where to even start.
The time is an hour off. 5:45 is really 4:45pm
He is there during shooting hours and when I am there I hunt from 2:30 - dark. I hunted Thursday-Saturday without seeing him but it is still early in the season I will catch up with him sooner or later...
I sure hope I meet him soon. I knew he was there from last year but this is the first time I have seen him this year. Hopefully I am better prepared in this area to hunt him now. We will see!!!!
He is probably talking about the canals not Channels. I know of only one channel in Verret itself and it is only around 7' deep.
We went a few weeks ago and pretty much all of Pat's bay is choked with lilly pads.
You really trying to compare False river with the whole La. Marsh? Yea, they JUST alike and have exactly the same issues!
Well it looks like guys that fish only to eat the fish will get their way so will see what the area looks like after 3-5 years or after one low water spawn...
Personally I bass fish because I like the art of bass fishing and figuring them out while catching nice fish. I am not against keeping fish but if that is your first priority it just doesn't make any sense to me. Like I said before it never pays for itself to catch your own fish. So if that is what you are after and are not passionate about the sport and art of fishing then just go to the local seafood market and buy some.
I'm done with this conversation. I just can't understand this kind of logic so I guess I am just in the minority. I'll just start fishing Toledo Bend/Sam Rayburn more.
BTW: Go try and catch a nice bass in the Tank Pond this year!
