Since June 22 I've worked 156 days and until the morning of December 18th I'd only been able to get in the woods one time. I managed to sneak away from work early on November 3rd and catch the last hour of daylight, which allowed me to score a nice, big bodied 8 point. The texts my uncle-in-law had been sending me about deer movement and pictures of his harvests had me itching to get back out though and I took a week of vacation, from the 18th to the 25th of December, to hunt and enjoy Christmas activities with family. On the morning of the 23rd, I was getting frustrated with the muggy 70° weather and mosquitos and was about ready to call it a morning by 9:30 am. I persevered and at 9:45 am it paid off. A nice, big 9 point came in range of my TC 30-06 and I was able to take a shot. He didn't give me a broadside opportunity so I had to take a neck shot and dropped him at about 150 yards. He's the largest buck I've taken. I'm very thankful and, now back at work, I've showed everybody that'll look my pictures with a big smile on my face. Can't wait to hang him on the wall!
