Has anybody picked up any Swamp Swatter lately?

I heard they went to a larger bottle and recently started taking orders over the phone.

The hot chick holding a bass on their website is definately worth a peak. :)

Made a scout trip up to the old locks north of morgansa up hwy 15, saw a bear on 418 instersects 970. pretty awesome, didn't get a spectacular picture, but will post anyhow. Caught a few 2 lbs bass on rat l traps off the banks aroun d the rocks at the lock. Went on down to the outflow dam, watched several nice stripers jumpin in the rushin water as the storm passed. After throwing about 20$ worth or rat l traps to posiden, we decided to hightail it before we had to navigate the rocks in the dark.

A tube jig looks like the picture attached. Use a 1/16oz jighead and a small or medium weighted cork. Adjust your depth as necessary I start out deep 2ft or so then move up. Phone won't let me post pics, try this link. Or go to google and search crappie tube jig and click on images.

If I can remember correctly there was a prediction for the DOW to hit 10,000 by Oct 1 since the Messiah was going to save us all from ourselves... Where in the heck is Elle when ya need him!?!?!?

From TeBlow to tea parties, split tails to fish scales, ethanol gas to big fat bass, come on Gators, LSU is ready to whip that... Keep the posts a comin, I’ll keep the boat runnin, working for mine, to get time in a blind. We’ll agree to disagree and hammer fish in the sea. Laying fur down, it’s in the woods where we’ll be found. When the weather gets cold the feathers will fold, here on this site, good stories, get told. So let’s see a first fish, or a deer in a dish, to get outdoors would be my only wish.

Has anyone ever fished in the pockets along the south shore of Pontchartrain just east of Bonne Carre and West of Kenner. I was looking for a little more information on the area and wanted to make sure I wasn't trespassing in the search for some redfish and maybe a few trout. Going across I10 I always see several trucks parked at a little landing/camp and was curious if it was public launch? From google it all appears navigatable, but i want to make i am doing the right thing.

Thanks for any info fellas.

Before and After.

Fishdux, Nightfisher, and Miss em Mike let me tag along this past weekend on a redfish round-up down in Delacroix on Saturday.

We got a little bit of a late start but poked on down to Sweetwater Marina. Capt Jack, the owner, was there to greet us as we launched. I was tempted to buy some live skrimps, (especially since they were only 20 cents) for the journey but the boys convinced me none was needed.

We hit the water runnin' and soon we checked in at duck pond number #1. We turned the corner in the bayou and you could hear the reds tearing it up ontop. A few casts the skunk streak was shattered with some fast and furious redfish action.

The boys stuck with slurps and blurps in sparkle red or a white and I was in my normal routines of tying almost every lure in the box. I snuck 1 on a gold spoon, then a in line spinner, then I switched to what the fellas refered to as the pokemon lure and that was the ticket.

After the heat started to beat down on us like a fat kid on cake, we gace it a last stitch effort to finish the last 4 of a 4 man limit, but only put 2 more on ice.

Excellent day on the water. A big thanks to Team Florida (fishdux and miss em mike) and Nightfisher for putting me on some fish. I tell ya guys after Saturday's dinner my wife might actually give me bait money. LOL!

Good times and Tight lines to yall!

I went and bought several maps from there last Friday... Only pricing I saw was for $9.98 after several folks said they had them on sale.

They are actually $16.99 but no where on the shelf or in the aisle is it marked or posted.

I explained this to the manager and she was not concerned and basically looked at me like I was stupid (which is debatable).

The old pre katrina maps are on sale for $9.98. I would think this would be a safety hazard to sell out dated maps, but that's just me.

Good times and tight Lines to ya!

Hey Captain Paul! Will buying a new chip for my Lowrance give me better mapping?

I've noticed the current chip we use displays us driving over land in several aeras from Biloxi Marsh to Cocodrie.

Is there an updated chip you would reccomend?

June 23, 2009 at 8:47am

I may be losing it, but I could have sworn last year this time the Rigolets and especially Lake Borgne was a lot cleaner this time last year as opposed to now.

Would the closing of the Mr Gone have such an adverse affect on the out flow of the Rigloets, Lake St Catherine, Lake Borgne and keep these areas form getting flushed or am getting ahead of my regularly scheduled fish producing haunts in that area?

Two Saturdays ago we ran out to Biloxi marsh directly across from the train trussels to find clean water, but only produced a couple of trout.

We ran all over the place Saturday and could only find clean water in a bottle in the cooler.

Any Thoughts?

June 08, 2009 at 11:05am

Ladies and Gents the fishing in Grand Isle is on FIRE and at Bridgeside Marina they said it's only going to get better.

Bridgeside has boogie croakers and the big trout are unbelievably hungry. With all the shrimp in the water everywhere fish with a cork or bump the bottom with some live bait and you going to catch fish.

We fished Saturday and Sunday and kept 123 fish between 3 people. 79 of those fish were between 18 and 24 inches caught on croakers on the bottom. The bite is on, the shrimp are there, the trout are hot on their heels. If you can find an oyster reef or some structure with some moving water you'll catch fish. I watched trout after trout gobbling up shrimp under the lights on the wooden bridge.

If the bite gets any hotter I'd be coming home with blisters on my hands.

Final tally... 2 days 3 dudes 200 shrimp 200 live croakers = nine one gallon bags of trout filets.

I may have to sleep in my truck or on the beach but i'm definately headed to the Speckled Trout Rodeo this weekend.

My nephew broke a 7 pounder at the boat trying to swing that sucker in the boat. He was trying to keep the porpoise from taking it. Longest trout I've ever seen at up close and personal.

Good times and tight lines to yall.

I was unfortunate enough this past weekend to take a trip with my father to Ft Lauderdale, FL, from Baton Rouge to attempt to purchase a 2300 bay Ranger, 225 optimax 160hrs, power pole, minn kota 101, etc. Little did I know this person(s) was trying to sale a boat that did not work for 30k. It seemed like a fair price for the rig and every assurance was given by the seller beforehand that it was in good working condition.

I'm not sure if anyone else is in the market to purchase a bay boat, but please do not waste your time dealing with these people. Betty and Chuck Bauman have evidentially made a living out of duping unsuspecting women who know little about fishing (see but it's not that easy to fool someone into purchasing an inoperable vessel.

After waiting 2 weeks for the bank to come thru, pleading with my boss to let me off on a friday, and then driving for 15hrs to get there, I was beyond excited and ready to fish, but that's when things began to go even farther south than I already was.

After looking over the boat there were a few things to be discussed, large chip in the hull, large chunk out of the lower unit on the motor (they made a poor attempt to hide), trim tabs not operating, gps not working (which my dad fixed), no batteries for the trolling motor, no way to tell if it even works, and immediately the seller wanted to hear nothing of the sorts and yelled out "I'M NOT COMING DOWN ON THE PRICE ANYMORE. YALL CAN JUST GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM!" Now at this point I should have grabbed my father and said let's get the hell outta here, but instead we gave them the benefit of the doubt (respected profession blah blah). Ok so we changed tune and requested that we could drive the vessel to which was again retorted by "I'M NOT WASTING ANOTHER 10MINS OF MY TIME UNTIL WE TALK MONEY!" In my head I am screaming WTF 10 minutes of your time. I just lost a days pay and 15 hours to come look at this POS and you're telling me how valuable your time is.

After looking at the boat for another 30min trying to run down wires and check fuses to make things work I finally looked at my Dad and said this isn't right we need to step back and think long and hard about the sh!t we are about to step in. The seller didn’t know we had left, I guess they went inside for another drink or were smoking drugs (because you’d either need to be high or drunk to try and pull this off), yet when they discovered we had left they were super ready to get the boat in the water. I am not exactly sure why, I guess they wanted us to see that it floated.

To make a long story short they repeatedly assured us the problems were minor, just a fuse or something, but they had no idea where said fuses were. For 30k I better be able to hook a boat up, take it to the dock, and put it in the water and fish. Not give someone 30k so I can spend another 5 or 10k making sure it works. I guess to make it worse was the lady had two weeks to take it to someone to make sure everything worked. This was never done. Being a business woman she could have easily said hey I haven't had this boat in the water for 9 months I don’t know if it'll even run. This was never said. If this entire transaction is any reflection of what kind of business they run, I can't believe they are still in business. I think the best part was that when we mentioned no trolling motor batteries the guy says “We didn’t mention it in the ad”, what makes this hilarious is that the spare tire that was pictured in the ad had been removed. (We are about to haul this thing 1000 miles and the idiot didn’t think it needed the spare tire attached as the “ad” appeared)

Betty mentioned she had another buyer from Louisiana interested in purchasing this boat. God I hope he looks at this site. This isn’t to slam anyone, but the people selling this boat cannot be trusted to be honest in any shape or form.

If you wipe your @ss with 100$ bills then this might very well be the boat for you, but I wouldn't trust these people as far as I could throw a 2 ounce weight on 4lb test line on a Barbie Doll pole...

This deer was harvested in Oak Ridge, Tennessee by a Watse Management truck. As much as i would love to tell a fish story about how I sat in the freezing rain for 16 hours and this sucker stepped out 475yds on the next ridge, and I tracked him for 13 more hours, I just can't tell a lie, unless it's about how a fish I caught...

I was on my way to work when I saw this haus on the side of the road. It had just been hit and I had just twisted the neck off at the base of the skull when animal control showed up to pick up the body. I only had a 3 inch pocket knife and was running 20 minutes late to work or I would have had spent a little more time getting the head, neck, and cape.

Any guess on a score? G2's are 13 inches. I counted 25 points.

Folks if ya plan to go on the water and are after some of the fish in the S.T.A.R. tournament and have NOT already purchased a S.T.A.R. ticket, please do so. We landed a 198lb tuna this past weekend that would have probably won the tuna division, but we didn't have a S.T.A.R. ticket.

I know. I know. But I was one of those guys that said awe heck I'll never catch anything that'll place. I don't work for CCA, but I am a member. I tell ya, I feel like a slight dumb @ss for not spending the 10$ or 20$ for the ticket. I could have had a 5000$ blue water tackle package.

Well good luck and tight lines.

Yes. Excellent your relationship will stand the test of time.

No. Your relationship will not last because she will never understand it and will always complain about how much time and money you spend of senseless stuff instead of her.

You can go to norco and ride the spillway levee to a lil park playground, nature trail, and fishing area with a small pier.

Mandeville has a pier called sunset point. There is a pier that goes quite a-ways out into ponchtrain. Its lit at night and people fish. I was there 2 weekends ago and they were catching right before dark, few trouts and reds, shrimp on the bottom. also u could go madisonville and go to the end of the road where the tfunctche (sp?) river meets lake ponchtrain. (Maybe flooded for now) We also saw a sea otter when we were at sunset point.

There is seabrook/frank davis pier. They are doing A LOT of construction and I couldn't find it on a hermit crab hunting trip. (Long story. lol)

Slidell is probably the next closest, chef pass around the hwy90 bridge. Lots of traffic be careful if ya bring young uns, make sure you have a license too.

Rigolets marina may habve live bait, get some, bring/buy an aerator n bucket to keep your bait alive, or bring a cast net and catch your own. Good luck.

Last Saturday my nephew caught a 5 footer off the dock at the rigolets marina around 1130p last Saturday on a finger mullet carolina rigged. Two guys in a boat tried to net it and it busted straiht thru their net. You take a left as soon as you comw out of the marina and go about 500yds in the canals and grass on the right hand side, before it opens up to a big patch of water. Seen a bunch when we fished that afternoon, saw some monsters bustin the top.

Get ya two metal rods, or two pieces of bamboo, run to walmart and getcha some jug fishin line or some strang, buy some chicken necks, or castnet some mullet, cut up mullet, attach mullet/chicken neck to string in 1 ft increments. Tie one end to one pole/rod/stick run 6ft to 10ft line tie to other stick, rod, pole. Check line at 20min, then every 10 to 15min afterwards. Pull string up slow with appropriate net underneath as u work the line to capture crab.

Or get strang, tie chicken leg to the end, throw chicken leg as far as u can, slowly pull string in, net crab.

That's is a fantastic idea, but the only problem is that if they do not have a hunting license they cannot legallly possess the meat from any animals considered game in LA. If they don't have a fishing license they can't legally accept and possess the filets.

That's a ticket iwould have to take, but thats my own humble opinion.

There is a place in rudduck, la, off of hwy 51, you launch under i55. If you are coming from tx on i10 taKe the second La Place exit then take a left on to hwy 51 north. Pass up the on ramp for i55 and about 4 or 5 miles down there is a public launch. Come out of the launch go west under i55 and take a left and run beside 55 south about 3 miles and on the right there is a bayou that's pretty wide, its deep at the mouth and dead ends a short ways down, but about 300 yards it has a smaller bayou on the left that has quite a few log falls, but after you run it a few times you can pretty much run wide open, follows this bayou and a mile there a short cut to a well head on the right, but if you stay straight about another 150 yards it opens up to a huge bayou to the left and right at this t for 800 yards on either side by about 75 yards long. LOTS OF GRASS. I believe it may grow over in the summer. Saw some gigantic gar and carp fishing day and night. You should be able to see it good on Google Maps .

Good luck, whack n stackem.

A comment titled: optimism is appreciated, thanks in response to a report titled: Thread locked, but discussion can continue

650 million spent so far? Do you not understand that figure isn't squat to BP? That is exactly 0.271 PERCENT OF THEIR TOTAL PROFIT FROM LAST YEAR!!!

IF you asked me to spend 2 billion dollars to obtain 20 BILLION dollars I would do it EVERYTIME.

Does a single person know HOW LARGE the reserve actually is? Apparently it is HUGE.

Why is it impossible for people to understand that BP is going to pay out VERY VERY LITTLE and thier BOTTOM LINE is not going to be affected even if they spent 9 BILLION DOLLARS. Which is the amount they made WITHOUT this particular well PRODUCING ANYTHING.

9 BILLION is about the TOTAL Exxon spent. Are they out of business, Heck no they aren't. When the last time it stopped you from filling up at an exxon station?

YES, to you and me 650 MILLION DOLLARS is a GIA-NORMUS amount of money, but that figue only represents 7% of the PROFIT they made in the LAST QUARTER.

YES, right now BP is not making a HUGE profit, but they are still making money off this well. They stand to make more money off the well if they can figure a way to contain it. THE **FIRST** and ONLY things they have tried are to contain it NOT STOP IT.

Why is it hard for anyone with limited intelligence to understand these people DONT CARE whether you like them or not. I DRIVE A CAR, MY CAR NEEDS GAS, GUESS WHO I HAVE TO GET IT FROM IF THEY ARE CLOSEST WHEN MY LIGHT COMES ON?

THESE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE FISH IN THE OCEAN. They care about the money underneath it.

Wake up and smell the sweet light crude, because it is coming to a beach near you from florida to manhattan. IT IS NOT A MATTER OF IF, BUT WHEN.

I appreciate the optimism, but common sense is common sense.

I'm just calling it HOW I SEE IT, and it is not looking good, for any party involved.

A comment titled: pressure in response to a report titled: Thread locked, but discussion can continue

Edit: they Are also collecting natural gas at a tune of over 7 million cubic feet in the last week. So again tell me why in your right mind you would stop that kind of cash flow? Oh right they are suppose to care about the enviroment, an enviroment that has nothing to do with oil production. Lmao!

Let me ask you a question drew/mike... if you had a cow that everytime it farted you made $125,000, but it burned down 1000 acres of your neighbors crop that won't produce any more crops for decades. Weeks go by, you're rolling in dough and smell like manure, but your neighbors are starving angry and they're livelihood is obliterated for decades to come. The guberment tells you to clean up that cow! So you spray toxic perfume to make it smell better but your cows flatulance continues. You're making money, life is good for you because its not your fault, but the gassey cow. Would you cork the cow or drag your feet and feed it less broccoli so it still farts, just not as much? Now you tell the guberment that you've tried sticking everything up that cows butt, even your own head and nothing works, you'll just have to let the cow fart into balloons or shoot the cow. Are you going to shoot the cow dead or let it fart as long as possible? Anyway you sniff it, it. Smells pretty bad to me. Smart feller or fart smeller?

Question for the people with some real smarts... 10 (20, 50, 100) ton solid steel plug in the shape of a top won't stop this thing? Huge rubber stopper or Cypress tree whittled into a plug, like a wine cork.

Why can't you pour cement ontop of it till it makes a mound like a volcano, then put something over the top?

Sow a mile long tube of fabric with lead weight on the bottom to contain it to one area?

When it is stopped people will say 'why wasn't this the first thing that was done?' It is because until the cost of cleanup exceeds the profit of production nothing will be done. if the punishment included losing all current and future oil holdings in fed waters then this thing would have been shutoff the next day.

Make a mile long tube bigger than the piper to go over the pipe to contain all of it.

Drew, What the fox is wrong with you? Are you aware that they have a tube pumpin oil to a barge/tanker on the surface? Are you aware they have collected about 500,000 gallons JUST IN THE PAST WEEK FROM THE WELL ITSELF?!?!?

It doesn't take a complete idiot to understand that 500,000 gallons divided by 42 gallons in a barrel that makes 11,904 barrells at 70.04 dollars a barrel is $833,756.16 A WEEK.

I'm no rhoades scholar, but a million dollars a week is better than no dollars a week, production is production.

People don't understand that for most who have lived off the seafood, ie reastraunts, will have no recourse against BP. People think they will get compensated, GUESS AGAIN. IT TOOK 17 years for people in alaska to get paid after the exxon valdes, and you know what the majority of them got
4000 to 5000 dollars.

Don't be naive about the motive of people with dollar sign in their eyes. BP doesn't give a rats patoot about fish, shrimp, oysters or the fact that ENTIRE COMMUNITIES WILL BE DEVASTATED. They will throw as little money as possible at the problem, they will fight tooth and nail against these claimants to the point many of them will go awaan estimated 9 billion was spent on total cleanup and claims of the exxon valdes. BP makes that in FOUR MONTHS. People are calling me ignorant and an idiot. IT TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE. I'M CALLING BULL SPIT. LOVE IT OR HATE IT THE FIRST IDEAS AND CURRENT IDEAS ARE ONLY TO COLLECT AND 'CONTAIN' the oil. IF THEY WANTED TO STOP IT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST THING THEY TRIED. I MAY BE FROM FLORI-DUH, but I refuse to be naive about what actually happening. If you would like, drew, be a mushroom, by all means, but you're not going to keep people in the dark and feed em a bunch of bull crap for long before they tell you it stinks and tastes like crap.

They aren't capping it or shutting it off because if they did that they would not be able to 'siphon' off the oil and process it. They are more concerned with keeping it open to profit off of it then they are about protecting the water. They don't make money off seafood or fishing license.
