Garfield on the oil crisis

A lot of folks can't understand how we came
to have an oil shortage here in our country.
~~~
Well, there's a very simple answer.
~~~
Nobody bothered to check the oil.
~~~
We just didn't know we were getting low.
~~~
The reason for that is purely geographical.
~~~
Our OIL is located in
~~~
ALASKA
~~~
California
~~~
Coastal Florida
~~~
Coastal Louisiana
~~~
Kansas
~~~
Oklahoma
~~~
Pennsylvania
and
Texas
~~~
Our
DIPSTICKS
are located in
Washington , DC!!!
Any Questions???
NO? Didn't think So.
Capt. paul
I have recently purchased the lowrance i finder h20c,
also purchased a standard horizon eclipse dsc gx 1000s
vhf unit w/ the distress feature( oh crap button)
the salesperson said that the units will hook together
to send out my gps location and information via vhf signal
when you hit this switch.
there has to be more to this than tieing the units together. I think this is the NEMA feature.
Any info? Thanks , Bob
The ad in the classifieds about shrimp for sale is a joke being played on someone.
the name and number belong to someone who doesn't shrimp or sell shrimp. He is looking for which of his (friends) posted it.
Please don't call!!!
A comment titled: Barfish in response to a report titled: Anyone know how to make striper taste like sac-a-lait?
A bar fish is a white bass. smaller fish than stripers or hybrids.
Hybrid is a cross between white bass and striper.
Hybrids have broken lines (stripes) down the sides.
stripers have unbroken stripes.
i think barfish have the rough patch on the tongue
like kentucky bass do.
I dont have the problem of spooking da reds or worrying about my cast.
Get a fly rod.
Pink charlie or flex o crab or spoon fly .
Set it in front of a red and hang on. if you miss pick it up and set it down again. (2 secs) no reeling in to cast again.
Get your soil tested first But fertilize once after the acorns fall and again in the spring as they are starting to form. you can do it 3 times a year just start when the acorns fall and go every 4 months
A comment titled: oaks in response to a report titled: Foodplot Seed
J B
When fertilizing any tree the prefered method is to
look up at the limbs and draw a circle on the ground just inside of the outer limbs . Then draw another half way between this circle and the trunk.
get some 2" or bigger pvc pipe cut in to 2' pieces.
drive a pipe into the ground . it will fill w/ dirt. pull it out . and pour fertilizer in the hole .
Do 4 on the outer ring at N. S. E . W. then do 4 on the inner ring 45deg off of these.
Deer will walk thru piles of acorns to get to the fertilized ones. White oak is best if ya got some.
Brer rabbit,
it was distroyed by a hurricane . i read story about it.
i think only 4 or 5 folks survived 100s were killed in the storm and the whole island was erased.
Was a great story , i wish i could remember where i saw it.
Us folks w/ more advanced minds have trouble remembering things . I guess they get to full. Bob
A comment titled: Fishing newbie in response to a report titled: WHAT AM I DOING WRONG
i know it may not be the answer you want to hear ,
but the best thing you can do is hire a guide . Tell them you are new to the game and they WILL teach you.
you figure the cost of gas and bait for a few trips where you don't catch . Take that $$, find you 1 or 2 others that want to go and split the cost.
you will learn enough on one trip if you pay attention
to pay for the trip.
capt k,
you and i both know those trout make a feeding circle following the bait.
I have seen it on a small scale in some of the sand pits around G.I. There you could move w/ them . I've also seen it in barataria and it may take 3 days for them to make the circut.
A comment titled: mix in response to a report titled: Foodplot Seed
plotspike makes a mix that will grow in the shade . Great for planting in those small clearings in the woods.
Round up the area wait 3 weeks mix seed and fertilizer ,
broadcast and rake into the soil w/ garden rake.
watched this stuff grown in pots under a carport in a corner, No sun and it grew great.
A comment titled: rye in response to a report titled: Foodplot Seed
fence man,
i didn't say it was not good for the deer . i said it saps all the minerals out of the soil.
Look at alot of the fields that were planted in rye for 5-10 years for cattle and nothing grows but i think its called broom sedge?
If you fertilize every year or two rye will work but i have seen trails thru calf high rye that lead to a field planted in clover or deer mix.
Cattlemen plant rye because its cheap and it requires minmal soil prep.
