We took advantage of the calm waters on the July 4th weekend and it paid off all three days. Harvested our limit of red snapper, mangroves and a few vermillion. Water was beautiful out of South Tim.

Had an awesome trip in Cocodrie Saturday. Left Coco marina Saturday morning and picked up 40 plus trout inland as we waited for one rain storm to pass. Then headed south to the rigs looking for lemons. The water was crystal clear and smooth as glass. Stopped at several rigs along the way and finally found the lemons around 50-60 ft of water. They were in groups of 3-4 per rig. Caught our limit within a few rigs and picked up some mangrove snapper on the way in. Finished the day with some frozen bushwackers from coco marina.

Anyone notice the Cobia starting to pile up at the rigs in South Tim and Ship shoal platforms? Thinking about going for Labor Day weekend. Thanks

Bigg Catt member Erwin Pradat wasted no time slowing down the hog population in kentwood this past weekend. Nice kill !!!

We are scheduled to go on a charter trip tomorrow out of Reggio and the guide is telling us the fishing is not good right now. I've been hearing good reports about the fishing. Can anyone elaborate on the fishing? I may need to move to another guide.. Thanks

High winds and high tide proved to be beneficial for some great marsh fishing this weekend in Cocodrie. Fished around rabbit bayou and the Lumcon area and caught plenty trout, reds, drum and sheepshead. Live shrimp was the main bait but they were hitting on minnows and dead shrimp too. I'll take the higher winds over the gnats any day..

We had good luck with the trout from July 4 - July 7 out west at Whiskey pass. Fished the north side of the island using live shrimp and minnows. Good Luck..

Nice fish... We went back last weekend also and fished the same rigs I fished a couple weeks ago and had a repeat day of lemons. I didn't notice any large groups but there were 2-3 at the rigs again. I used cut bait and sardines for them. Every lemon we cleaned had a catfish in its belly.

Thanks for the input. Guess I'll be heading out there this weekend and maybe get a little extra trout for the freezer before hunting season starts.

I personally don't support the poisoning of the hogs. its unfortunate that the hog population has become so far out of hand that we have to use chemical weapons. Not only is it inhumane, its not clear if other animals or people could be impacted by this. The state could apply a bounty on them to be taken by traps, rifles or other means of hunting device. Land owners and ranch owners could also encourage the taking of all the wild hogs a guest can shoot and simply donate the meat to charities.. it could serve as a tax deduction for them as well. Our club currently does just that and the local communities benefit from the free meat we give away.

Yes in Delacroix. Reds and trout are the target. I was just wondering if the guide knew what he was talking about or maybe he had other plans. I thought we should be able to get on some fish tomorrow. i'll report on how we do. Thanks for the reply..

HeyTravis, I'm taking some kids fishing this weekend for the ' Take a kid Fishing' Jeff Fish fest this weekend. Any tips on where would be good for trout and the bull reds you caught? they would have a great time if we could find them. Thanks

Hey Marty,

Thanks for the tip you gave me Saturday morning pertaining to the dirty water outside. We ended up with a nice limit of reds around the Bayou Dulac area and Rabbit Bayou. The water outside was still dirty Sunday. Thanks again, Bigg Catt

I have been doing good in the small bays behind Lumcon and close to the ship channel. All the marsh area close to hwy 56, rabbit bayou is good too.

Hey Tommy, Thanks for the Cocodrie update. you always seem to be on the fish. I fish out of the Coco marina and plan on going this weekend with my family. Just wondering if you suggest fishing in the east for best results? I'm not that familiar with the eastern side like little pass but would like to get to know it better. Seems the fish start off east and migrate west. Any hints on where we may be able to pick up a few? Thanks
