HUMMINBIRD LAKEMASTER---LOUISIANA DELTA
?Recently purchased this card and installed the card to my 898ci HD SI DI. Surprised to see that all land mass is now RED! Recently read somewhere(?) that someone had mentioned the ability to change the TRANSPARENCY setting so as to allow one to view old canals, bayous, trenasses, etc. Has anyone been able to do so...? I am recovering from surgery and unable to do so myself! Any and all info relative to this feature and/or the ability to replicate older images PLEASE COMMENT!!! THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE...John C.
This coming Tuesday, October 9, I lost a great fishing companion and a true friendâ¦JOHN GREMILLION/R.I.P. October 9, 2014!
Hope you are still catching those big speckled trout and staying away from those âstuuupid redthingsâ! i KNOW YOU ARE till throwing your Texas Tackle double rigged shrimp jigs.
Hope you caught that heavenly world record tarpon you and your uncle were always after. By now, you should have a 300 on your 24â² Blue Wave.
We all miss you!
Missy, hope you are doing well!!! John Castelluccio, Jr.
Read on another webiste, there was a massive fish kill which had settled along the beaches from west of Fouchon to Elmer's Isle! It was stated that the stench was horrible...prior to and during the incident pogie boats/spotter planes reportedly were working the Gulf within a mile of the beaches! At the time, days before the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo-were were no picture/videos.
Anyone hear and/or see this in person?
If indeed true...hope the media has the cahoonas to do some coverage and the after-math!?!
John Castelluccio, Jr.
NEED INFO: Can anyone post Pros/Cons for fishing the Grand Isle/Fouchon areas during the first two weeks of October? A group of us are planning an out of the ordinary fishing trip to Grand Isle/Fouchon---October 7th thru the 12th. Usually, we get together anytime between late May to July and we have never fished the area during the early fall months; therefore, we would like to get an idea of what to expect! Any/all info relative to surf fishing...Fouchon, Elmer's Island to 4-Bayous AND the north-side of the island as far north as Bassa Bassa, etc...THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE...John Castelluccio, jr.

Bad weather & high winds = no reports... so putting this out there!
Requesting ANY AND ALL input both positive and/or negative relative to the Minn Kota Saltwater/Riptide (Ulterra?) I-Pilot (36V w/60' shaft) with ALL THE BELLS/WHISTLES (handheld remote vs foot control AND the Auto Deploy/Stow features). I do realize that with these troll motors in 'anchor'/Spotlock' feature that the bow will always be into the wind and should stray from side to side due to both tide and winds.
ALSO...what about the 'Auto Deploy/Stow' feature?
We troll the MRGO, Trestles, Rocks, etc and wondering if having the foot control would give more 'hands-free' time as compared to constantly positioning with the remote!
We realize that the guides for the most part like the handheld remote due to the fact that they are assisting their client s and keeping them on the fish.
ANY/ALL INPUT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED...John Castelluccio, Jr.
ORIGINAL QUESTION----
MY ORIGINAL QUESTION: Which tidal conditions, incoming vs dropping combined with wind direction of less than 10 mph IS BEST for fishing the surf, whether from boat or standing the surf? Are tide predictions for Caminada Bridge combined with moon phase ALL are players in fishing Elmer's???
Hoping for lots of experienced suggestions/answers. Thanks, John C.

I purchased (2006) my custom made all aluminum and SS trailer from Sport-Trailer Trailer Co., located on old Hwy. 90 in Bay St. Louis, MS. Someone hit my trailer in the Bonnabel parking lot two weeks ago...damaging the left metal upright-guide pole and the U-bolted bracket! I made an appointment with the owner of Sport-Trail Trailers-Kevin Desalles and brought it in yesterday morning. A new bracket was welded on, BOTH metal uprights were replaced, LIKEWISE ALL four of the U- bolts, nuts and washers. They inspected my trailer, tongue assembly (under, around and over) and found a stress fracture in the step-up next to the fender and welded that. Accompanied Kevin into his office, he handed me two t-shirts and AND he apologized that there was not enough time (11:00am employees' lunch time) to lift my boat off the trailer so as to chemically-wash my trailer as a courtesy . I was gratefully surprised at what he 'charged' and a handshake. SPORT-TRAIL TRAILER CO. is doubling it's size AND will be the 'official' trailer manufacturer for BLAZER BAY BOATS located in Pensacola, FL
Took my boat into Pontchartrain - shakedown for trip to Grand Isle this weekend. Noticed GPS unit with flashing message...\'HIGH VOLTAGE INPUT\' and then noticed my Yamaha instrument gauge showing 17.4 - 17.6 volts while running 4000 rpms. Stopped boat put motor into neutral and instrument gauge showd 13.6 - 14.0 volts. I was seriously concerned that the over charging could cause the battery to explode and/or damage something else---instruments, gps, motor, etc. I called a few mechanics and one asked if battery was bad or very old...NO! Battery is less than 2 years old and I charge it on trickle charge after every trip. Now I am wondering if I have overcharged/damaged the startup battery. My motor is a 2006 Yamaha ZR200TRX HPDI. Does anyone have any input and/or related/similar experiences??? Thanks, John Castelluccio, Jr.
TOTALLY A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF W H Y A L L INCUMBENTS SHOULD GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Forgot)...let's us know how you all did...John Castelluccio, Jr.,
pizzatv: Likewise we will be 8-10 fishers in the Grand Isle area from Sunday thru maybe Thursday. I seriously do not think that the predicted forecast will be favorable---Sunday...20-30mph North and Monday thru Wednesday 15 -20mph NNE and Thursday 10-15 East! The Mississippi river is rising and with the easterly-winds Empire and Grand Isle gets dirty!?! ADD high probabilities of rain...more eatting, drinkING, cards and Judge Judy TV? And can you FACTUALLY inform all of us just 'how much that...'... most people don't realize how much natural resource (fish) are waisted by commercial fisherman and not even a hint of penalty for it'. Please share with us all that you are aware of...very curious! John Castelluccio, Jr.
By having the fishing license requirement for anyone over 17 years of age...allows the WLF the 'PROBABLE CAUSE' to inspect those fishing ANYWHERE for violations! As stated above, there is a larger percentage of bank fishers who violate size/limit requirements!!! John Castelluccio, Jr.
REMEMBER...this coming NOVEMBER ELECTION---DO NOT vote for any incumbents whether Democrat or Republican!!! John Castelluccio, Jr.
Cauht1: As Capt. Rory Rorison mentioned previously---
FIRST OF ALL...we have a size minimum and a per fish limit on all saltwater species which is authorized by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries in conjunction with biological data to substantiate/allow these limits!
SECOND OF ALL: There is statistical proof that NOT EVERYONE catches their allowable limit(s)...I BELIEVE that figure is around 10%!?!
THIRD OF ALL: Those catching 'limits' are most likely chartered trips---AND THOSE HAVE BEEN FAR AND IN BETWEEN! This is evidenced by the LACK of fishing (bragging) reports.
FOURTH OF ALL: I hope you come OFTEN to our bountiful State to share its beauty, co-mingle with our residents, AND REAP SOME OF WHAT OUR STATE IS KNOWN FOR...ie: FOOD - FISHING - FRIENDS!
LASTLY: Until you witness the damage that the bogie-industry is doing to a basic-link in our saltwater fisheries eco-system ( REMOVING unrestrictedly that link to sustain our fisheries offshore)---pogey/menhaden! That is the very reason almost ALL of the entire Atlantic seaboard States have basically disallowed the pogey industry to harvest in its States' waterways!
Sincerely...John Castelluccio, Jr.
N O W... Is the time to start contacting our 'Legislators' (both House and State Reps) in reference to restrictions on this industry which is depleting the basic ecosystem for sustenance along the food chain which is alternately depleting the redfish, trout, jackfish, etc species. This type is industry is running rampant with very few restrictions IF ANY....Billions of dollars to the few!
The Gulf Coast Management Association has a 'hands-off' attitude as compared to the Atlantic Fisheries Management which has seen the devastation to their fisheries industry and has started/continues to stringently control the pogey industry along the eastern seaboard.
We should remind our ELECTED officials that THEIR FUTURE IS IN OUR HANDS and they should listen to what we have seen, what we are saying and what is being indicated by past events and the affect on our future fisheries.
Our sport, recreational and chartered industry contributes more to our economic businesses than what this pogey industry minimally gives back to Our State's Economy! J
REMEMBER THIS DURING OUR NOVEMBER ELECTION PERIOD!
John Castelluccio, Jr.
Taken into consideration: Thank you BOTH! ...NEXT!!!???!!!
Any pics/videos??? Just that!
STRANGE, statement/postS by charter Capt. Carpenter; pics from 'FantasyIsland'; video by CeeDub; Capt. Ty Hibbs; Chris Macaluso (Baton Rouge ADVOCATE) and even on 'Paradise Louisiana'...there was mention (during Grand Isle Rodeo week) of fish kills and rotting fish on the beach(es)!

Guys I'm not trying to pick up another torch because I have enough of them that I am trying to keep lit now and run a business. But here is my tale of the last 48 hours. ......
.
Fished the beaches of Fourchon yesterday and caught a limit of trout before 9AM. As I was fishing I was looking toward the gulf and I observed the pogie fleet exercising their fishery, they were working the area hard. Fast forward to today .......
.
Fished the Fourcon beach again today and about mid morning noticed the crowds of boats coming further west. Reports were that there were hundreds of dead 'breeder reds' floating in the surf, washing up on the beach and the smell was horrible. I was west of it and the wind was out of the west so I did not notice it.
.
On the ride home to Grand Isle I passed hundreds of dead mature Redfish, Jack Cravelle, sharks and mixed in with them were 6 inch long pogies that could have only come from one place. There were hundreds of dead Reds and jacks washed up on the beach along the way.
What you can?t see in the pictures and video because of the glare are the hundreds dead fish rolling in the shallow water below the surf line...

MATHGEEK: SOOO correct...just see how quickly FLORIDA handles their smaller situation!! Costing the State tourist $$$...VERY QUICK RESPONSE(S)! LOUISIANA...NADA---oooh welll!
DR. SPOT: DOUBT SERIOUSLY river water cause(s) DUE TO OVER THREE WEEKS OF WESTERLY WINDS keeping river water EAST of the mouth of the Mississippi River!!!
PLS...be sure to take pic and videos!!!!
Capt. Rory...THANK YOU for you input! especially from someone who is on our waters over 10 months a year!
ps: Have you heard from Ed McIntyre??? John Castelluccio, Jr.
Just checked THE WEATHER CHANNEL forecast for Grand Isle...FRIDAY: 40% Thunderstorms SW 5-10; SATURDAY: 40% Thunderstorms SW 5-10 AND SUNDAY: 20% STRAY Shower SW 5-10!
Like my dad used say...Predicted 5-10 mph---you add them up and get 15 mph!!! John Castelluccio, Jr.
'There are some people who can't spell BOAT correctly three times in a row...LET ALONE OWN A BOAT'!!! 'THEY are Everywhere... LMAO
THAT INCLUDES one charter captain in particular who fishes the Trestles, Lake Borgne area, Castle and Biloxi-marsh areas! He will pass between you and the Trestles while you are casting towards the Trestles-out 35'-50', pass within 20'-25' of other boats fishing the Castle-area so as to anchor alongside another charter boat (numerous times)!!!
GREAT, THANK YOU...the kids enjoy getting into the water and 'running' the two 150' lines with 25 baits on each! Especially, for 8-year olds, the 'adventure/thrill' of getting into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico (especially during SHARK WEEK) LOL, experiencing the unknown and capturing crabs from the water is captivating to all! Think about, this---how many people don't have the freedom of stepping into these waters---SO MANY LIFE-LONG LOUISIANA RESIDENTS have yet to just visit Grand Isle let alone walk into its' Gulf waters!!!! WE ARE SOO BLESSED AND PRIVILEGED (definitely not ENTITLED)...John Castelluccio, Jr.
BBQKing: Sir---many, many pats on your back and my compliments for YOUR PROFESSIONAL DEMEANOR! IF that guide's crew for that day was not family, possibly they were embarrassed to the point they will not choose him in the future and make that known amongest others/may even make social media posts themselves as per their discomfort---there are too many guides to choose from. Sincerely, John Castelluccio, Jr.
