Louisiana Sportsmen's Coalition shared a link. · Bob's Bayou Black Marina Inc is facing being shut down because the landowner adjacent to them wants to put a permanent gate on the canal that Bob's Marina customers use to access the Intracoastal Waterway. This is just another example of the water access issue we have here in Louisiana threatening small business, as if they need anymore trouble after 2020! We are asking that you call/email your legislator (use the special page linked below) and ask them to fight for water access this legislative session. https://www.joinlasc.com/speak-up/ *** What's happening to Bob's can easily happen to Reggio, Hopedale Marina, Sweetwater Marina, Delacroix Island, Campo's Marina and many others!

Here is 'another' video (by Tommy Vidrine) for the cca to view and AND NOW---cca 'DO' WHAT---TELL US !!!!!! We as licensed Louisiana recreational fishers are allowed to' keep ONE redfish over 27',..' but these FOREIGN BOATS ARE ALLOWED TO CONTINUALLY KILL MANY, MANY BROOD-STOCK REDFISH, TROUT, BLACK DRUM-AND DEPLETE/RAPE A VALUABLE FOOD SOURCE FOR REDFISH, SPECKLED TROUT, DRUM, etc-----WHY? $$$ WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND/OR INPUT ??? SHARE THIS VIDEO !!! PS: The ' O N L Y ' ACCOUNTABILITY from these two foreign companies is WHAT THEY THEMSELVES submit. Last year they 'submitted' a figure of a 'TWO BILLION' pound of catch (WITHOUT a Federal/State observer? aboard)!!! ****Their 'allowable' BY-CATCH IS 5% OF TOTAL CATCH...(BY-CATCH SET/APPROVED BY BATON ROUGE POLITICIANS)!!! ***NOW, GO FIGURE 5% of two billion pounds and estimate the number of DEAD Redfish, Trout, Drum, Croaker, etc that is dumped back!?!

Read on another webiste, there was a massive fish kill which had settled along the beaches from west of Fouchon to Elmer's Isle! It was stated that the stench was horrible...prior to and during the incident pogie boats/spotter planes reportedly were working the Gulf within a mile of the beaches! At the time, days before the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo-were were no picture/videos.

Anyone hear and/or see this in person?

If indeed true...hope the media has the cahoonas to do some coverage and the after-math!?!

NEED INFO: Can anyone post Pros/Cons for fishing the Grand Isle/Fouchon areas during the first two weeks of October? A group of us are planning an out of the ordinary fishing trip to Grand Isle/Fouchon---October 7th thru the 12th. Usually, we get together anytime between late May to July and we have never fished the area during the early fall months; therefore, we would like to get an idea of what to expect! Any/all info relative to surf fishing...Fouchon, Elmer's Island to 4-Bayous AND the north-side of the island as far north as Bassa Bassa, etc...THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE...John Castelluccio, jr.

Bad weather & high winds = no reports... so putting this out there!

Requesting ANY AND ALL input both positive and/or negative relative to the Minn Kota Saltwater/Riptide (Ulterra?) I-Pilot (36V w/60' shaft) with ALL THE BELLS/WHISTLES (handheld remote vs foot control AND the Auto Deploy/Stow features). I do realize that with these troll motors in 'anchor'/Spotlock' feature that the bow will always be into the wind and should stray from side to side due to both tide and winds.

ALSO...what about the 'Auto Deploy/Stow' feature?

We troll the MRGO, Trestles, Rocks, etc and wondering if having the foot control would give more 'hands-free' time as compared to constantly positioning with the remote!

We realize that the guides for the most part like the handheld remote due to the fact that they are assisting their client s and keeping them on the fish.

ANY/ALL INPUT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED...John Castelluccio, Jr.

🐟 POGIE HEARING ON WEDNESDAY. The House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment will hear Rep. Joseph A. Orgeron’s HB 535 at 9am Wednesday morning in House Committee Room 4. Baton Rouge, LA

PERSONALLY: I think there should be a THREE MILE BUFFER ZONE ALONG THE 'ENTIRE' LOUISIANA COAST---easier to enforce!!!

To say, 'FISHING IS IMPORTANT TO LOUISIANA” is a Huge Understatement. Culturally, fishing is a staple of our way of life and an undeniable cornerstone of the Louisiana experience. Our rich estuaries provide some of the world’s greatest recreational fishing destinations. Economically, fishing is a $3 billion industry supporting nearly 24,000 jobs across the state. While we always think about the big fish we’d love to catch, the little fish they depend on for food are important too. Menhaden, or pogeys, are often referred to as “the most important fish in the sea” because of their role as a food source for countless other species. Louisiana is the only Gulf state with no geographic buffer zones on menhaden harvest. That means that industrial fishing boats, which take about 1 billion pounds of menhaden annually, can operate in sensitive shallow waters. In addition to habitat damage, the nets they use also pull in 20 to 30 million pounds of bycatch of species like trout, redfish, drum, shrimp, mullet, croaker, catfish and more. Fortunately, Representative Joe Orgeron from Golden Meadow has introduced legislation, H.B. 535, to help protect our favorite Louisiana pastime and our coast for years to come. H.B. 535 will provide much needed protection from industrial menhaden fishing for our surf zone where many of our favorite fish species and iconic Louisiana wildlife spawn, nest, and feed. The bill creates a half mile buffer across the entire coast, with special one mile buffer zones in specific areas, and a three mile buffer zone off of Grand Isle. Tell the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment that you support Rep. Orgeron's bill that provides common-sense regulation of industrial menhaden.

ONCE AGAIN...the cca is NOT CONCERNED/INTERESTED IN THE COMING ANNUAL REDFISH/TROUT DECONSTRUCTION of our coast---RE: nothing proposed by that organization for this year's Louisiana's Legislative Session---as of past Friday 3-26-21 sessions' record. Contact/telephone your respective House of Representative and Senator AND EXPRESS YOUR DISAPPROVAL OF THE UNCONTROLLED WASTE BY THESE TWO FOREIGN COMPANIES. We the fishermen suffer from their greed and money making tactics. IF you belong to any local/State conservation group ask them what their stance is on this topic and you should act accordingly---if not in agreement with your opinion say so and/or discontinue being a member and offering that group/organization money when they are NOT REPRESENTING YOUR POSITIVE INTEREST IN THE WELL BEING OF OUR LOUISIANA FISHERIES AS RECREATIONAL FISHERS WHO SPEND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS ENJOYING THESE GOD-GIVEN RESOURCES!

From the March, 2020, edition of 'Sportfishing Magazine' (nationally syndicated)---GAME FISH-Menhaden Seiners Killing Louisiana Red Drum-State allows rampant destructive pogy reduction fishery. By Doug Olander March 2, 2020 'When pogy boats target an area, all sport-fishing boats can do is stay out of the way as huge seines are laid to pick up tons of pogies and nearly everything that swims... ' said Benson Chiles! '...Except for Virginia, not a single Atlantic Coast State allows any reduction fishing for menhaden, having recognized it as an ecologically destructive industry. In the Gulf, ditto for Florida; Alabama, Mississippi and Texas have at least some restrictions on the books. But Louisiana imposes few limits on pogy boats! Hopefully, sportsmen's organizations will become increasingly engaged with this issue in coming years. It's certainly on the radar of the Teddy Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and the Coastal Conservation Association. A very active group that has made a difference in the issue of menhaden-reduction fisheries in the Atlantic, Menhaden Defenders is, at press time, developing a campaign to deal with problems in Gulf reduction fisheries (menhaden-defenders.org/gulf). It's past time to limit foreign commercial netters in the Gulf from getting away with murder. As Newman says, in reference to the menhaden-reduction operations: We have an amazing sport fishery here in Louisiana. But if this keeps happening, Sportsman\'s Paradise is gone! ***CLOSE TO A YEAR NOW: WHERE HAS THE LOUISIANA CCA BEEN and WILL THEY ACT ON BEHALF OF US RECREATIONAL FISHERMEN OR BATON ROUGE POLITICIANS???\r\n\r\n\r\n ENTIRE ARTICLE FOUND UNDER GOOGLE.... The 'new-owner' has done nothing (in the past two years) to improve anything at this $10. muddy backdown launch. Was there last week...had to walk in slop/mud for nearly 10 feet to get to the walkway. The walkway/ramp has boards missing, especially last 3-4 at the farthest into the canal area. There are deep holes in the backdown area making it difficult to get trailer even so as to put boat on trailer. Now, during hunting seasons, parking is very limited. IT IS JUST A BARE MUDDY BACKDOWN LAUNCH!!!

As per article from 'SPORTFISHING MAGAZINE ARTICLE: '...The OTHER ACCOUNTABILITY from these two foreign (Canada & Africa) companies is WHAT THEY THEMSELVES submit. Last year they submitted a figure of 'TWO- BILLION' pound$ of menhaden/pogey catch (ALL without a Federal/State observer? aboard)! '...Their 'allowable' BY-CATCH IS 5% OF TOTAL CATCH...' Go figure 5% of two billion pounds and try to estimate the number of redfish, trout, drum, etc which ARE killed/dumped back!?! Menhaden/pogey is supposed to be the number one food source for our trout. Wipe out that food source and there will be a drastic decrease of trout in our coastal waters. BUT THEN, the LAWLF is under the impression that we recreational fishers are over-fishing the trout...REALLY?

What is your source that pogeys are used in the making of fish oils for human consumption? I believe, for human consumption, the FDA only approves and allows oil from cold-blooded fish,,,tuna, salmon, etc!!!

ANYONE with a 'DRONE' during the times any of those boats (NEAR OF OUR COAST) are killing our fish---record the net deployment; retraction of that net and ESPECIALLY THEIR DISCHARGE OF THE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF DEAD FISH which will eventually wash up onto the beaches!!!

Tony, you were the one who told me you personally talked with cca's Cresson relative to a talk/meeting he had with the parties involved in the menhaden debacle...nothing has been publicly presented and/or written to that affect---ANY RESOLVE AND/OR MORE 'PROMISES??? BETTER ON PAPER-OTHER THAN SMOKE??? Tony, you can keep us all up to date date with the 'actions' of cca!!!???!!! BPitman86 : Our crew was originally 21...now down to 7 originals: 'Blue Dot' came aboard later along with Bobby S. Original location/camp (1988-2005) was at the end of Foster Lane (Judge Herb Gautreaux)---camp was totally destroyed/gone by Katrina...one remaining piling still there as a tribute/memory The new land owner (last name Vidrine) has built a one of a kind 'camp' close to 4,000 sq ft. - 6 bedroom, two story with 3rd level sun-deck area. He actually built a beach between his ground-floor slab and the water alongside a section of his very well lighted 300' oval pier/deck. We were staying in a 'local' sheriff's' camp which recently has been sold. This year we are in a bay-side camp past Elmer's Island. If you know Dot's number...give him a call...may be able to come down spend the day and have just a few drinks and unlimited food!
