I've noticed that there are plenty of fellow saltwater fishermen that live in Baton Rouge, but I don't see any group for sharing much needed information. Since we have a long drive wherever we go, it would be good if we could coordinate, and not blow a weekend on the wrong location. I would start a Facebook group or whatever it takes. Some towns even have weekly fishing seminars/meetings. If Baton Rouge fishermen had a monthly chat, that would be an improvement. Tight lines gentlemen!

Does the Edge system work for Lowrance Hook 4? Also, do I need to get a separate micro SD card for this?
Hey, I'm a newbie to fishing around Lafitte. I went out February 17, and tried to access the Southern part of the Pen, but there were these signs that said 'obstructions do not enter'. That kind of scared me off. That probably doesn't apply to me since I'm in a 14 ft Jon. Does anybody have any ideas?
Is it okay to launch at Elmer's Island, and if so where? How about near the beach?
I've been fishing everywhere I can for a year, but I still don't think I know where to go and when. I've fished myrtle groove, the riggolettes, delacriox, bayou villars near lafitte, bayou lacombe, cypremort point, and the marsh near grand isle. I have a 12 ft jon with a mud motor and a beveled front for breaking waves (but I still get beat up on open areas on windy days). My 14 ft jon is pretty flat, but I want to run it too. I thought delacriox is for winter and Grand isle is for summer right? Any help is appreciated.
Hey guys, I created a Facebook group. Anybody that wants to join is welcome. No SPAM though. Here's the link:

Speaking of Shell Beach, isn't Campos Marina free if you're kayaking?
Thanks so much for the swift reply. I think that's the route I took when I saw those signs. I guess I just got scared off too easily.
I think that's more of a C.J. Melancon issue than a voting Democrat issue. Republicans dominate in Louisiana (Mississippi too), and our results have been horrible (look up the statistics and you'll find it depressing). I'm not really a fan of blue dog Democrats aka Republican lite, but they are not all like Melancon. Let's just keep the focus on Melancon.
Live shrimp are expensive. How is the bite with frozen shrimp?
Wow, you did Venice in a plastic boat? That's brave. I heard Venice was dangerous.
I tried Myrtle Grove, Sunday, but I got out there too late in the day (11:30 am) and spent too much time scouting. So I just got catfish, but I clean and keep those too (hard head, gaffe top, or channel still gets fried). I'll try to get out there earlier next time. In the meantime, I'm eager to get back to Delacroix, and try some of these places that folks are suggesting.
Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
I went ahead and made a group. I'm not sure how I'll spread the word though. https://www.facebook.com/groups/884914611669168/?ref=group_header
