Water was dangerously low in catfish lake today, managed to come home with a few. All caught on bait shrimp under cork
Launched at catfish lake this morning. Ran to the lake and was welcomed by diving birds as soon as we get into the lake on some oyster beds. Fished there till bout 9:30 left with 43 nice trout. Left to go catch reds with 1 bull on a beetle spin in the marsh. Came back around noon to the same spot we caught the trout earlier. Ended up catching our 3 man limit by 3 PM. All of the trout caught in holy jolly matrix shad and shrimp creole 2 foot under a cork. Everything on plastic today. What a fun trip.
Me , the wife, and son went today to delacroix. First stop point fenne, nothing. Headed to lake John got 3 then nothing by 10 30 headed back to point Fenne. Ended up catching 14 more and one 20 in red. Wind was blowing hard n.e. Had a lot of fun. I plan on going back soon.
Yesterday me, my wife, and my 10 yr old son decided to fish catfish lake on my only day off. Really wasn't thrilled because I knew what was ahead of me with a 2 hr drive, fish all day, 2 hr drive back, etc. My wife really wanted to go so happy wife, happy life. I'm glad we went. We launched at the public launch and cut across catfish lake. We fished the marsh on the east side and a few rocks. Caught fish all day. Tons of rats and hardheads. Ended the day with 9 reds, 3 trout, and a drum. Awesome day on the water. Ready to go back. Most keeper reds were on minnows. Couple on bait shrimp.
Me and the wife had a free weekend to ourselves so decided to go give it a shot. I knew it would be cold but not windy as bad as it was. Launched out of sweetwater headed out. Water temp this am was 48 degrees, didn't get a bite till 10:30 when we found 10 feet of water fished the bottom with live shrimp pick up 4 specs and 1 drum , bite slowed down so headed to the launch around 12ish. Stopped at 1 more spot on the way in, boy was we lucky ended up catching 39 specs from around 1-4:30 this evening. Water temp then was 51 degrees. We left them biting because I didn't want to get stuck at dark coming in. Ended the day with 43 spec and 1 drum.
Also have to give a shout out to the staff at sweetwater. Very nice also backed my boat down and parked my truck for me.
