My 7 year old caught his first bull red all by himself. Casted out with the Calcutta and within 1 min he had the redfish on the hook. He didn't want any help in getting him in, only help with the net. Proud dad :)

KENTWOOD AREA!!!

To the people that stole all of my hunting items. Don't let me find you.

I hunt to be able to spend time with my 3 sons. They are 11, 7 & 5. You stole from them. The 2 two man ladder stands. The umbrella covers, the feeders and the cameras. ALL FOR THEM!!!

It's a very sad time in our lives that we can't leave items in the woods because 'trash' will steal them.

I worry now about bringing my sons into the woods because what if I run across the people who stole and they get scared and start shooting. Not worth it to me. So if it makes you sleep better at night to steal from 3 kids and their father.....then you need the items more than me. May God have mercy on your soul. Eternity in Hell is a very long time.

Gun season hasn't even started yet and I'm done hunting this year. Hope your proud!!!

All,

I have been fishing saltwater my whole life and want to try out catching freshwater. Specifically, right now Sac-a-Lait. I have an opportunity to go to Stephansville, La next week. Are there any reports on catching Sac-a-Lait down there?

More importantly what ya catching them on?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

All,

I am a seasoned deer hunter, but a new deer hunter in the Kentwood area. Are there any speculations out there on when the rut will kick in (dates)? I have been hunting out there a bit this year and haven't really seen to much activity. I also hunt in Alabama, and a bit before the rut kicks in the deer don't move around to much (mostly December). We have a late rut in Bama. What are other hunters seeing in/around this area? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I shot this 9pt the last day of the 2012-2013 hunting season last year. This is my first 'Mount' to shoot and I was more than enthusiastic!! This buck walked out while I had 2 does in the field. I knew he was a shooter as soon as he stepped out.

I hunt with my good buddies in Alabama and if it wasn't for them allowing me to hunt with them it would have never been possible. Great friends, great comradely, & always great food. Special THANKS to Big Bama, Capt., JoJo & Royal Rob!!

Also thank you to my beautiful wife for allowing me to enjoy the great outdoors.

Bring a friend into the woods, it will change their life!!

I took my 10 year old son (Riley) to Alabama for Youth Weekend this weekend and there was success. A nasty, raining Friday and Friday night led to a foggy and warm Saturday morning. At 8:00 am Saturday morning a spike walked into a lane, but stood behind a limb. It taught my son patience and to wait for a good shot. After 5 minutes (prob not that long) the spike turned broad side. Riley shot and the deer dropped. He made an awesome shot. He said he felt like he was in the Arctic, he was shaking so bad. He also stated he couldn't breathe....I explained to him the 'Buck Fever' we all love. Between the two of us in the ladder stand the whole tree was shaking. Having my son with me in the stand and having him kill the deer was INCREDIBLE. This was his 3rd deer to take, as he took 2 last year. I have 2 other sons (younger) and cant wait to get them into the stand with me. Hunters bring kids in the woods with you. It will make your day seeing the smile it puts on their face.

Fellow Sportsman,

I am looking for suggestions for a good quality, affordable rifle & scope for my boys. I have 3 boys (10, 6, 4) and want to buy a deer rifle for them to use and pass down to each one. The older two shoot the .22 (with scope, very well). My older son shot 2 deer last year with a youth .243 (1 @ 110yrds other @ 85 yrds)
What brand/model would you recommend I get that will last for them to use. I need it to be affordable. As with many people, funds are tight right now.
We all remember our first gun. What should theirs be?
Thanks for the information!!

Guys,
Why is it so hard to get into a hunting club?? I have been trying to find a good club throughout this last year and have been unsuccessful. I bow hunt and rifle hunt and would love to find a club to join for myself and my boys. I have 3 sons that I want to teach them how to hunt. I have hunted on friends property for the last 8 yrs and now that option is not available to me.
Any suggestions would be helpful. If you know of any clubs looking for a responsible hunter please let me know. Lodging is not a problem, I have a camper that I can bring during hunting season.
HELP PLEASE!!! SUGGESTIONS NEEDED!!!!!

I put out my deer feeder only to find out that I am feeding the local Coon family. Is there any food that will attract deer and NOT coons?? How do I rid the problem? I have Deer Protein Pellet mix in the feeder and Rice Bran on the ground. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

A comment titled: Thanks Guys in response to a report titled: STOLEN by POS from 3 Boys!!!

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm better today and not as PO'd as yesterday. Still not pleased though. I went today and bought a ground blind we will hunt in. I will pour corn out and keep my fingers crossed.

Ya know it's a sad day when you can't leave a stand in the woods.

Thanks again all!!!

He used a .243 and loves it. He has killed 3 deer with it (2 last year and 1 this year). No kick and very accurate. Good luck!!

RWRAY,

Did you leave the scope on the 243 that you bought or did you change it out? I know some/most of the package scopes arent the greatest. What are your thoughts?
