For those of you who may have been caught by surprise by the lead shot ban on WMA property and state lease land, I made a Facebook page. I am trying to get more people to contact their representatives. I have already been in contact with several.
Now I need to find the public information records to see what data they used to justify this ban. Wildlife and Fisheries say they made the change because of 'Outside Pressure'.

As some of you may be aware the State decided this year to ban lead shot for dove hunting on all WMA and leased land. You may not think this is a big deal but it is. Just the first step to banning lead for all hunting. Steel is a very poor material for shooting. Light, hard, and does not kill as good as lead. Plus it cost three times more than lead and you put your grandfathers gun up in the safe for good unless you have a lot of money to spend $2 a shot for alternatives other than steel.
They claim this is for the protection of wildlife from lead. I do not buy this. I have hunted on an area where people have shot lead for over 40 years for doves. Never cleaned a single bird with lead in the gizzard. This is political.
I am providing a list of contacts all of which I will be calling to and writing to so this can hopefully be reversed.

Going Fishing on Monday near Isle de Jean Charles. Thinking of Launching at the Marina. I have a small 12' boat with a 7.5 outboard. Never been fishing here. Anyone know of a good spot?
I have been wanting to go inshore fishing for a while. I live in BR so if there is a better spot closer for my size boat I am open. I chose Isle de Jean Charles because I heard it was good for Kayak fishing.
Looks Like a Common Water Snake.

Thanks. I will have to call before I leave. If not I will have to find another spot.
Thanks. I appreciate the info. This give me a little more confidence that I am not just going site see.
Very Cool! All of my old Dove Hunting spots are no longer productive because of what you mentioned about modern farming practices. Only thing alive on a modern farm is the crop. I managed to get six on opening day.
