I really liked your post!. Anytime you can take kids fishing it will be time well spent. Your pics are priceless and the time you shared with boys will always be a part of who they are. They will be proud to say they know how to fish and you should hold your head high knowing you were a part of that experience. I always enjoy taking kids fishing. The young girls are always fun to introduce to the outdoors too. You would be surprised how many kids never get to experience the smell of the marsh on a early morning while the sun is coming up in the sky. Get your rest and get back out there! GO WOLVES!
Why do you put a barrel swivel on the decoy end of your string? In my experience, the swivel will get hung up on the decoy bag and will rip your bag. You should eliminate the swivel all together. Also, those nuts you are using will rust and leave rust stains on you decoys and boat.. I know it sounds like I am being critical but years of experience have taught me that nothing beats 'tangle free' and lead weights designed for tangle free line.
Depends on if you are a Bama fan or Tiger fan. LOL.....

Your plan of attack has merit. I am aware of how it goes hunting in that area too. The early morning first light flight of birds can be ok but the shooting sharply declines after that. I am yet to try a late start but judging from your success it seems like the way to go. I got tired of paddleling in to my spots only to have other hunters setup close by and attempt to 'sky bust' ducks that were considering landing in my dekes. I know the effort it takes to get away from other hunters but not convinced it is worth all the effort. Its getting late in the season and I keep telling myself I am going to try a new approach. This might just be the weekend to give it a try. Good luck TC.
I have been out quite a few times in that area myself and have found low water conditions most of the time. No limits taken this year as I get only a few shots each hunt. Have shot more wood ducks this year than past years. I don't hear much shooting going on either. Overall it has been a lousy season in that area for me.
