I recently spent some time in Delacroix and decided to make the run to Venice. I was able to use the dock to dock auto routing from my iPhone and sync it to my Simrad. Pretty cool stuff for sure.
I've never fished out of Slidell, LA Any tips on areas to avoid. It looks shallow according to my Navionics Boating App.
I am a redfish angler but I also like to keep up with what the Bass guys are doing as there are many similarities. Josh Douglas, FLW Pro, just released this new YouTube video. I'm not very tech savvy so this was great information for me and I thought I would share it for anyone that's interested in Navionics which is the card that I use.
Is anyone having any luck catching Reds in the Hopedale area during this hot weather?
Does anyone have or know where I can find the maps of the levees in Terrebonne Parish? I fished there last week and it was horrible trying to find a way to get to the other side of them. The red line is one of the levees I encountered. I'd like to add them on my Navionics app as a community edit so I have them marked permanently.
Thanks in advance!
I just stumbled across this upcoming webinar. The guy is out of Charleston, SC but he's pretty knowledgeable from what I can tell. It's on the 30th of this month. Just wanted to share in case any of you would like to tune in and see what a charter captain from Charleston, SC has to say about catching redfish in their waters. Reds are reds so I'm hoping for some new technique that the reds here aren't used to. They are pretty smart and seem to be getting really used to my gold spoon.
Since HB391 was voted down does anyone know where you can find a map of the private lands?
Any tips for catching some monsters before this storm hits? I know that when the pressure drops the fish tend to eat more aggressively so any suggestions for artificial baits would be greatly appreciated!.
What is the best app that you have found for an iPhone as far as navigating the marsh?
I spent last week in the Hopedale and Delacroix area and covered a lot of water ... too bad the weather didn't cooperate on Saturday. I just got a new Simrad evo 3 and put the Navionics 907p+ on it and was able to connect it to my iPad and IPhone. I snapped a couple of photos of what I was able to do while hanging out in the Delacroix Lodge at night using my Navionics apps and chip to sync the data so that I could hit the water and have definitive routes to follow the next morning. It was a life saver on Wednesday. I found two guys that were lost and injured and was able to get them back to Hopedale in record time following one of the routes that I had created the night before. Tight lines and be safe out there! There's still a ton of crab traps even after the clean-up.
I just had this show up in my inbox from Navionics. I use the Platinum+ maps and I love them. I think you can buy them online at www.navionics.com and I know that Bass Pro and West Marine have them. I use the 907p+ and it has all of the offshore wrecks already programmed in on the maps.
So in case your interested here is the info on their sale according to their e-blast.

I am getting ready to take a trip to Louisiana and I want to fish the Biloxi Marsh while I am there. I have been studying my Navionics App and Google Earth and have found some good places to try. Are there any areas there that are off limits? Thanks!
If you are new to boating or just need a little refresher I am presenting a webinar tomorrow night covering the Rules of the Road at Sea. This webinar is sponsored by Navionics and Simrad Yachting. Click on the link below and get registered today. Itâs FREE!
Navionics has a new chart installer version which will update your charts even faster. I just updated mine and it's incredible to see the difference.
This is a pretty sweet deal if you are buying a new plotter for your boat this spring. https://www.navionics.com/usa/lp/rebate. I found out about it at Bass Pro. You get $50 back when you purchase a new plotter from Lowrance, Humminbird, Simrad or Ray Marine and a Navionics. card. That drops the price down to $99 on their regions card. Bass Pro is also giving $30 off of the cards during their spring sale that is going on now so that makes the card only $69. Just thought I would share this with you.
Miles 'Sonar' Burghoff is giving a webinar on chatterbaits tonight. You can register by clicking on the link I have posted. I've watched several of his webinars and have learned a lot.
