Help out Capt. Marty with a big Texas crew. We started out redfishing but got a call of a few trout being caught. My crew were dead set on trout so we made it happen. We changed zips and started out really slow. We made another move and started catching good on double rigged Matrix Shad. We held out as long as we could, but had to head in for safety reasons. Day 2 with The Phillips family from Arkansas. The crew got a good night rest at the REEL INN Dularge. We made a last second play change, just before we got to our 1st stop, and we found the gold mine! Shrimp running for their lives in every direction! Mike and Kevin brought their wives down for a little fishing R & R. We started out a little slow, mostly due to other boaters trolling and big motoring across the fish. Decided to move around off the pressure and it was on! Kevin decided to throw topwater and stuck over a dozen studs! We used the topwater bait to get the big fish going and then threw double rigged Matrix Shad in the same area, doubling and tripling up on some hammers! I had Justus and his buddy Joshua onboard. Justus is a regular saltwater fisherman, but this was Josh first time catching speckled trout. I had the Cox family onboard. We met early but ended up not being able to start fishing until around 9. The storms just wouldn’t stop building up on radar so we decided to be patient and wait them out. We didn’t know what to expect getting out much later than expected, but it didn’t take long for the fishing to get hot! When the smoke cleared the box was full of silver! Hulett and Jerry came down for a little fish therapy. We surely had to work for them! Funky water, and PLENTY of discourteous fishermen, made it a little challenging. I was fighting with my good and bad side on where our last stop would be; finally, I made a decision and it was the right one! Finally getting back to catching up on posts. I have been VERY busy the last few weeks fishing. The fishing has been AWESOME when Mother Nature let’s the winds lay down. We decided to leave a little later and chase bull reds first thing. The bull reds didn’t disappoint, as we were quickly hooked up! They were truly amazed at the power of our big bull reds! We played with the trout the rest of the trip and they did not disappoint either!
