Which bow sight would/did you put on your bow? Just purchased a Hoyt-Carbon element and want your input. I shoot 27 1/2' draw length @ 70#, Easton Axis 400 arrows, QAD Ultra rest-HD will be part of the setup. Need input on stabilizer & sight. Thanks in advance.
Lookin for info on ammo out of the 35 Whelen. Remington Core loc's or Hornady? 200 grain bullets. Anyone experienced both?
Anyone have any experience with the new Thompson Center ICON or the new 30TC caliber bullets?
Can anyone tell me the pro's-cons of a 35 Whelen vs a 45-70 on an Encore-they are legal in MS during muzzle loader season, and was wondering which is better all around. Distance, knock down, accuracy, bullet drop, etc. Any experience is welcome.
Hit the pipeline @ 0730. Watched the blizard and the deer until the branches started cracking @ 9. This nice 8 stepped out on a hunter well deserved. Good job son. Proud Pappa, Kernge.
I'm in the planning stages of a 2009 Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, or Missouri archery deer hunt. If anyone has any good or bad experiences with outfitters or lodges that they've visited recently please share them with me. I'm looking for a 5-6 day hunt with meals and room included. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Laila's first buck taken 12-28-08. First time in the stand by herself. One shot from her .260. Congrats-Love Dad
No blood trailing this one, Encore 25-06 does the job.
10AM 1-14-08 Central MS.
Had a great huntin season so far. Missed a big buck in Illinois but got a nice 8 in MS. and my daughter Laila got her first deer. Jeremy's still looking. Glad to get us all together for a couple of hunts.
Looking for someone to load some .260 caliber bullets. Any reloaders out there. Need about 150-200 bullets, 129 grn. Please email response.
Looking for a lower unit for a 48 Johnson or Evinrude, any year they were made will do. Call Milton @ 985-764-7742
Saturday morning 10/8/05-Got a shot with my new Hoyt Vtec, a pass through on an 87lb doe @ 25yds. Shoulda waited 30 seconds more before I shot cuz a 130lb old grey doe and a hundred pounder came in and stopped @ 18 yards brodside without a clue I was up there. Didn't get greedy but it was real tough to hold back. My buddy got a 90# doe with his crossbow that evening. Both deer in an oak patch. Happy Hunting.
Anyone have any suggestions for a quality dropaway rest for a Hoyt Vtec bow? Thanks in advance
Looking for an old 20' to 30' travel trailer of fifth wheel to use for a hunting camp. Call Kenny @ 985-817-1242
Switch to ALL free & clear or Purex free, it's the same detergent, free of dyes & scents & it's a great deal cheaper
Been shooting ST magnums for 3 years and luv em. After the Muzzy, Thunderhead,& mechanicals, etc were off from my field points I made the switch. Dead on every time & absolute slug holes in the deer. Good move!!!
Bought my 9 yr old daughter a Browning Micro hunter in the 260 caliber 10 years ago, she still uses it and will probably never buy another. She uses Remington ballistic tip 120's. I love it for when it is really cold and I have a lot of clothes on. It is sweet to shoot at the rifle range, very mild kick.
Shot the Encore with the Hornady 150 grain bullet and it is sweeeeet. Not a little recoil, no recoil, and fast. No more flinching and 3000 fps. Shot it 18 times and was ready to shoot it some mo. luv it
Hornady makes a 35 Whelen lite mag in 200 grain
Thanks, thats the kind of info I'm looking for. Sounds like the 30 TC was made for me. I'll let ya'll know how I like it.
Thanks for the info. How big a bullet you shootin in that thing? Who makes the better bullets for it? How fast out of the muzzle? I'm at work and can't look it up. Thanks in advance.
Helps a little, the 444 is also an option.
Rain by itself isn't usually enough, A couple of days of east wind does wonders.
What ever happen to Crash88? I never did get the story. Nice velvet 8.
I use a bungee cord from the stirrup, behind my ankles,to the other side of the stirrup for climbing.
The odds of killing a mature buck (3 1/2 years old & older) go way down if you smoke. Sure there's a lot of luck in deer hunting but if you hunt the wind, in my opinion, you won't see a mature buck down wind even if you take all of the precautions in the world. I may be watching too many hunting shows & reading too many magizines but they all say leave a stand alone if your scent is blowing in the direction you usually see the deer. I quit smoking on 10/31/02. Since then I've got 1-4pt, 1-5pt, & 4-8pts
I bought one at Northern Tool called the "Boominator" broadcast sprayer. A 26 gallon sprayer with 2 nozzles. One sprays a 20' stream and the other is a 14' wide spray. It works better than I expected and it was on sale for $179. We also used some weed killer which is called Eraser and it too worked great. Just spray it and wait 3-4 weeks. This eliminated one whole work weekend with the bushhog & disc and some gas money for more big boy toys.
Got me a QAD Ultra rest for my Hoyt Vtec & love it. Thanks for all the info. Hoyt Vtec $580, QAD ultra rest $99, 1 dozen Easton Axis arrows $89, Copper John Dead nuts C-4 sights $65, Fuse stabilizer $50, Scott Caliper release $50, Doskicil Pro 44 Bowcase $50, 6 Thunderhead 100 grn. broadheads $35, 4 arrow Kwikee Kwiver $25, 3 Lumenocks $23, 35 days till opening day & hitting the bullseye @ 10-40 yards consistantly, PRICELESS!!!
Bought a QAD Ultra rest drop away and it's absolutely great. 2-5 inch groups at any distance up to 40 yards. Will shoot @ 50 tommorrow but only for practice. Thanks for the info. Hoyt Vtec bow $580, QAD Ultra rest $89, Copper John Dead nuts C-4 sight $65, Fuse stabilizer $50, Easton 400 Axis arrows $89, Scott caliper release $50, Doskocil Pro 44 case $50, 3 Lumenock lighted nocks $24, 4 arrow Kwikee Kwiver $25, Thunderhead 100 grn broadheads $35, Hitting the bullseye consistantly @ 10-40 yards, Priceless. I bought my daughter a Browning micro-hunter 260. It has all you need and I love the knock down power. He will be able to hunt with it the rest of his life. It comes in 120, 125, & 140 grain bullets.
Scout in August? I think not. Wait until the first cool front in September, scout one full day, and stay out of the woods until bow season.
What is Broadhead planeing? Also, I just bought a Hoyt Vtec and am looking for info on a good setup. (rest, sight, release, arrows, & broadheads) My old bow shot Thunderheads 100, with a TM hunter rest, & Sightmaster sight. I had to adjust my bow to shoot my broadheads. They shot 4' to the left of center with my field tip setup consistantly. Anyone have this problem? I just got used to it.
