I just bought my new duck gun, a Browning silver 3.5. I've shot some #2 steel through the factory chokes but have holes in patterns at 40 yards. Let me know what chokes and ammo work for ducks in your gun. I think I'm good for decoy range but need a 40+ yard choke tube and steel shotshell combo. Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm going to retire my old beat up 11-87 and buy a new duck gun. Please give me a few to check out and what you like about them. Thanks.

Anyone have a conservation hunt scheduled? I want to book a hunt if you know of a productive guide/area. Thanks.

Made a hunt Sunday morning in the Amite river swamp. Only got one Drake Woodie and only seen about 10 ducks total. Maybe next season....

Do y'all shoot fast or slow steel. I've tried it all in various choke tubes with mixed results. But for the last few hunts I used some cheap 1&3/8 oz 3 '.#2 steel and the few birds I do get a shot at dropped dead. I'm using a Kicks modified. I know everyone says speed kills but I'm having fun with these slow loads. I

We hunted a wood duck hole in the Amite river swamp yesterday morning. Seen a lot of Woodies and hoodies but way too high. Should have went Friday when the wind was strong, maybe could have got some in range. Good to see the ducks are there at least. Good luck to those hunting today.

I'm going to meet four buddies in the morning for the east zone opener at King George bayou in maurapas swamp wma. One buddy scouted earlier this week and seen lots of wood ducks at daybreak and the blue wing teal showed up around 7AM. Should be a good shoot, I'm going to start the day with a light modified tube and fast #3's. What is your opening day choke tube and ammo?

A co-worker of mine has been doing good on the reds around the black river outlet West of the lighthouse. He's using a black split tail grub on a lead head bouncing off the bottom back to the boat. Hope this helps and good luck. Lake P had been peaceful lately with this hot weather.

A root beer colored vudu shrimp on a slip cork works on the trout in the surf April through September. I'll be in the surf in May. Good luck.

The turkey population doesn't stand a chance of making a comeback due to the feral pig infestation. We have to eradicate the pigs so turkey nesting can take place without eggs being eaten.

City park. You don't need a boat and it's close. I've never caught sac a lait but lots of bluegill and cichlids. If you use shiners you may catch a sac a lait if you can keep the bass away. Lol.

Hunted Sunday in the Amite river swamp and shot five times for zero ducks. Looks like the Woodies are gone and the hoodies moved in. Yuck!

Not much action this morning. We seen about 10 ducks and didn't fold any. I only pulled the trigger twice! We're going to hunt some private land tomorrow morning. I didn't hear any shots near us, we needed some wind.

Hooded mergansers are pretty common once December arrives. By then we switch to long range tubes and #2 or #1 steel. Usually we'll get a couple of teal opening day though after the Woodies stop flying.

We hunt close to the hwy 16 parking lot. The area is only about 1/4 mile walk through the swamp east of where you park. Last season there were hunters to our north, possibly near the private launch. I think it helped us out because it kept the ducks flying back and forth the bayou.
