I missed this nice buck on opening day of rifle season but I didnât want my son to know I had missed a big buck so the story was I shot at a coyote.
I hunted just about every day since hoping to get that seldom second chance, and there he was at about 180 yards at 5:35 pm when the hunt was normally over. I hit him low and took out the heart with my Browning 243. No blood was found anywhere. He had disappeared into the night. I just knew he didnât go far. My son had just gotten out of his bow stand when he heard me shoot. We waited a good hour before letting our Curr dog, Honey Badger, track it, and within minutes there he laid about 50 yards from the shot. I was so proud to have gotten that second chance in Tensas.
