just getin my computer back up but wanted to report from the last week of the season in manchac. They do have some birds but they are extremely hit or miss. Went 4 times in about 9 days if there was a front passing or the next day after one we killed close to a limit. But dont even bother goin if there is not 15 mph wind. Out of 4 hunts we had 10 twice, 4 one day, and 1 thanksgiveing morning.

AND A NOTE TO ALL if someone is ducking hunting and they are set up and you pull up 75 yards away and start putting out decoys expect to get yelled at, custed at and if its me and you stay there shot at!

I hunted the manchac prairie about 5 years ago but havnt been a a while. From what i remember we only killed ducks when it was windy and they had to get up off the lake shore, and i only hunted during the week. Are there any birds out there this year?

From what read it looks like you can go anywhere you can on the hunting area with an outboard just not with a go devil on big branch?

A comment titled: pull a tag in response to a report titled: 6 Point or better for LA

Me and a few of my friends were talking about this last night. now let me say i hunt swamp and wma. i shoot deer every year and friday i shot a small eight point (12 in wide), if you are willing to go after the better ones they are there. But this is what we came up with. 2 buck tags no size required and no does after dec. 10 ish. this way the people who just want a deer or two can get that, but most people will look for better bucks since they only get two especially if they shoot one early.

Untill today i have never really used this cite other than looking at pictures but i decided to give it a try. I have no problem with asking about area's on cites like this but i also think there is a big difference between just askin general questions and trying to get others ppl's spots. time is limited for most ppl so just a lil help like whether its is worth a trip r not can be a big help in deciding where you should spend your time.

thats about what i figured when i hunted there in pass years it was real hit or miss. i was just wondering if there were a few birds because i HAVE spend a few weekends scouting big branch, joyce, and hunting salvador which all have a few birds, just hadnt had a chance to get on the prairie and check it out. As far as knowing the land i did know it very well but im not sure how much it has changed with the last few storms and you will need a go devil, pro drive, or pull a pirogue wit and outboard and push poll once you get closer to the prairie because it is only 6 inches to a foot at the deepest.
