There are good, simple forum formats all over the Internet that allow you to select the post you wish to see, and to follow posts that interest you. This is not one of them. The Texas Hunting Forum is an excellent example of a user friendly forum that attracts a LOT more users and activity than does LA Sportsman. I suspect the format makes a big difference. Hereââ¬â¢s my EZ Fill corn feeder with a built in ladder. The build required five 8ââ¬â¢ treated 2x4ââ¬Â, two 10ââ¬â¢ lengths of ýââ¬Â EMT, two 24ââ¬Â lengths of angle iron (to anchor ladder legs) and a handful of üââ¬Â galvanized nuts & bolts, and 16D galvanized nails.

Here's a neat short YouTube video from one of my food plots on a lease near Greensburg, LA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB4UgZg-TWc&feature=youtu.be
My son and I fished the Lake Coquille area this morning. Got our limit of 18'/20' Reds by 8:30am. But you couldn't buy a Spec with a bag of diamonds.
That is all. When someone puts an ad in Reports rather than Classifieds, it should be deleted immediately.
This is a pretty neat guide. I figured someone out there might appreciate it. I have it saved as a MSWord.doc. If anyone wants it in that format click on 'Contact User', send me an email, and I'll send It to you.
Is there such a thing as a simple basic GPS that is reasonably inexpensive without a lot of bells and whistles that will get you from place to place in the marsh?
Hey guys, how about posting the date and parish of your first 2017 fawn sighting.
I have three cameras out in St. Helena Parish. No fawns yet as of my last check on June 25th., but lots of big bellied does.
It sure would be nice if 'Last Post', 'Replies' and 'Views' were added to the forum pages, as shown in the picture. It's a common feature of most forums.
As it is now, it's very difficult to tell if comments have been added to a topic you have already viewed.
The title says it all. A half-hour of on-line research turned up lots of opinions but little in the way of facts. Evidentially neither the State WL&F or DEQ test or publish recent info regarding the Mississippi River.
What say you? Do you eat them?
You can probably straighten the shaft with a piece of heavy angle iron that's a little shorter than the shaft, and a big 'C' clamp to push the bend flat into the angle.
Glad you survived that Mande. I've never thought about something like that happening. I think I'm going to rig a kill switch on the wire between the battery and motor.
I agree. I hardly come here any longer because the format stinks. I offered that opinion shortly after the changeover. Clearly usage and participation by the average Joe has declined. Perhaps the name should be changed from 'Louisiana Sportsman' to 'Louisiana Fishing Guides'. ???? There are so many good forums out there (for example the Texas Hunting Forum linked below) that it's hard to understand why this site persists with this unfriendly and unattractive format. https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forum_summary
Yep. The old format wasn't great, but was a whole lot better than the current mess. It's difficult to understand why LAS doesn't go to the format most forums use. One only need to compare the traffic on the Texas Hunting Forum (https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forum_summary) to the the traffic on the LA Sportsman forum to see how significant format is.
For effectiveness on whitetail deer, there's not enough difference among the three to make any meaningful difference. Just pick the one that tickles your fancy. Good quality ammo is readily available for all three and price differences are negligible.
.Pine woods - St. Helena Parish. Ten guys/900 acres/20 small plots.
I have never seen a crab with a net. Most of them have claws. It's hard to hold a net with claws.
Very little movement and few sightings at our lease in St. Helena Parish.
Hog.
I agree with 40lbDuk in general. If you usually hunt mornings and evenings set the feeder to run at first light and an hour or two before dusk. If you typically hunt all day, add a run around mid day.
Neat pictures LetUmGrow. Those are some healthy looking gals. Thanks for posting.
That's a darn nice mess of lip smacking goodness Bateau Boy.
I would guess Bobcat. Where about is that? I once watched a good size Bobcat creep up on a mature doe feeding on one of my food plots. It was in a start-and-stop low crawl until it got to about fifteen feet from her. Then she spotted it and bolted. It took off after her and was still fifteen or twenty feet behind her when they both disappeared into the woods.
I'll take Sheepsheads over specks any day of the week. Not as easy cleaning as trout, but the best eating marsh fish there is.
That's a mighty fine buck LastCast, and a fine looking young man. Congratulations to you both.
Love fish tacos. I prefer to use reds, drum or (the best) sheepshead. I don't break up the filets like that though. I cut the filets into long 1/2' wide strips before cooking. Then place the all strips in a bowl, drizzle on a little olive oil and season them well with Paul Prudhomme's Seafood Magic, tossing them around in the bowl to make sure the seasoning coats all sides. Then sauté them in a hot cast iron skillet. I like a little color on the cooked strips. But just about any way you do them, fish tacos are great.
WOW! Who would ever expect something like that? Glad you guys had a happy outcome.
Thanks for the report JTROUT. I wish others were as generous with such information.
I don't understand why Bayou Junkies Nation has not been banned from this site. No other forum puts up with such stuff.
Yeah, his posts are a bit much, and bumping them all to the top like this is offensive. I just pass over them these days. Maybe the LA Sportsman page needs a 'MathGeek Videos' page like the Weather and Classifieds pages. That would keep his clutter off the regular forum.
