ok i was looking into buying 2 new rod and reels, so i can keep fresh water rods and reels seperate from saltwater...
Has any of yall EVER TRIED ANY OF THESE RODS/REELS.FOR FRESHWATER.

*note i really like both shimano's dont know which to get or to get both? i reall like the daiwa since it has a finesse bar?

i have a question. which do you prefer? minn-kota or motorguide?
i have heard some goods and bads about both, just wondering what you rather.

talked to a guy today and he said motor-guide runs on 1/3 the battery that minn-kota runs. is that true?
i have minn-kota for all my trolling motors, just wondering what is better.

ok i recently purchased a eagle cuda 300. i like the actual system but i have been using it ( i mainly use it for depth and structure) but i am confused as to where it shoots. does it shoot out in front of the boat? (it is on the trolling motor) i want it to find stumps for me but when it does show a dip in or a ledge i dont know where that would be. wether it is shooting at a angle or is dead out in front. if so in the front, how far out do yall think it is sonaring?

i know you may not understand what i am asking but any help would be appreciated!

well how did everybody do? was there any good boat launching stories?? i know yall are in by now :)

well yesterday morning before the wind came, i hit a a honey hole and landed one big ole pig! she weighed like 3.92 ( 4 lber pretty much) came home and took pics then turned her loose. missed 2 other ( 1 i just plain out missed, 2nd i got hung on a stump and he got off)

today- went to the same hole this morning, didnt do so well during the morning. so came in and worked with my dad around the house. went back around 3( man were there some boats!!) and ofcourse there was 100 boats (launch was jammed pack, even the free one). after battleing to not get hit by ski boats, i went to my hole and worked on the way to it, and caught a small one, then caught another, and another, then finaly got to my exact spot, and caught about a 3 lber and caught 10 more lil ones! they were hungry this evening. a guy who lives by my hole came out with his boat, and stayed behind me fishng with a lizard and only caught 2. he finally started talking to him and then he asked what i was throwing so i gave him 1. and he caught 2 offthe bat.

best bait at the hole. ended the weekend with around 16 bass all released. didnt take any pics of the 14 today, but i do have pics of my big ole pig i pulled out. so i will post pics later. kept trying to get my dad to come, but i guess he missed out on the fun today!...

bout to go to a party so didnt have time to fish today. did run the trot line and didnt catch nadda squat.

what are in yalls oppinions some of the better crappie rods (preferbly long rods with reels)

im in the market for 1 or 2. someone on the river told me there is a guy in westlake,la that makes custom rods..anyone know his name?

any help with rod suggestion is gratley appreciated.

i have a garmin 76csx gps is this gps able to show maps of waterways and be able to mark them? such as big lake? ive seen less quality gps's that could do this so can mine?

if it can without buying anything to download onto it where would it be under? waypoints? the only thing under marine section is tidal stations.

here lately i have been running the river alot and have been seeing so many ducks it is unreal! talked to my neighbor and he said this time of the year is the best time to see ducks! unfortunatly you cant shhot em! but you can watch em.

went behind my house to a mud flat and to my surprise it held water! was about 30 yds away when i heard a hen quaking up a storm. looked up and 2 teal were lighting to go see her. worked my way closer stood and only seen 2 ducks a greeny and a hen, get 10 yds away,everything in the world gets up! had to atleast be 100 ducks in there everything from woodys, teal,wideon,mallards(rarely see them here),greys,and 1 pintail(have never seen a pintail where i live) it was awesome! talk about a site! especially when they are only bout 8 yds away

ever since doug caught that pig in watermelon bay area, there has been more people on the river everyday since the article was in the paper. my buddy went to watermelon bay area and said there was a few people fishing that area but just the trafic and all of them are either bass or aluminum boats. luckly for me i dont need to go to watermelon bay to catch 3+ size bass.had a 4 lber get off at the boat today =[

was gunna run a trot line across the river but then a friend pulled up and we went and tryed a few honey holes missed one and thats it.

after not being able to wait any longer on my jug pile i decided to come up with an idea. take 2 of the normal size water bottles. tie the together with your main line at the neck, then run your line down!

pretty slick huh?

im going to try them with my trout line this weekend.

total from yesterday was 8 fish (6 bass and to sac a lait)
all caught on secret bait. at secret holes =]
would have limiited out on bass but some had eggs.

the ones i caught did not have eggs i dont know wether they were males? or not but they didnt have eggs even when i cleaned em.

pics within a few hours idk but definatly in a lil bit.

ok yall think it would be dumb to put up limb lines on a public accesible river? would that many people check em??
my dad says a ton of people would see taht there is something on them and check and take the fish.

here it is boys

today came home load up the boat with the tackle and hit the river. went to a honey hole wharf with some shiners caught one slab. full of eggs let her go.

went back home grabed the bass rods dropped the shiners off and hit the honey hole. first cast WHAP! 3.52 lbs acording to rapala scale =P
casted more caught 4 more all weighing in 1.5-3.52 lbs

came home and let them go and took pics.

went back to another hole just to play around missed 2 right off the back. then hooked 3 more 1 lbers. then called it a day.

today- as pretty of a day as it was i havent even did my homework since ive been on the water. but anyways
had a tough time finding the biguns
cought 5 lil ones

was coming back into canal when i decided to fish the canal
with a bait someone gave me 30 min before since he as been catchin the mess load of bass on it. first cast had a hit set the hook it was a friggin monster! got him to the boat couldnt beleive the eyes. i had landed a 3.82 lb bass! hurryed and tied the boat up and ran to show the mom. even brought it into the house..boy was she pissed.
anyways so we took a few pics . then release her since she had eggs.

post pics when my mom gets home from grocery shopping. what a blast even tho i didnt catch that many big'uns i cought this memory (3 rd best personal record) the personal record goes as follows

1-5 lbs 2 oz (on the wall)
2- 3.85 lbs
3-3.82 lbs
4-3.63 lbs

thats my record for the river. thank goodness for secret spots and baits

ok pulled the card out and it turned on saying acessing files. now it wont turn off or do anything. what should i do?

does anybody know about the swamp on the west side of the west fork river? its across from south perkins. is that marsh public to hunting or fishing? does anybody know the owner so i can contact them?? Also any tips on white perch in that area. i live on the double set pipes and catch them on shiners there. but wondering what baits i should use when i travel away from there. jigs? if so how yall fish them?

any help greatly appreciated.
