Scott Abbott and his son Mason from TN were back on the DU today. The father/son team wanted reds and mission accomplished! We had no problem busting up the fish in the high winds. Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712
Bill Stewart and crew from Arkansas arrived at the Lakehouse for two great days of fishing. They wanted to tackle the bronzebacks and they got what they came for. I fished with them yesterday and we started off with bull reds and some big drum. Finished up the day catching a bunch of very nice slot reds. Capt Alden fished with the crew today catching more nice slot reds. The guys enjoyed their 2 night stay at the Lakehouse and they already planning another fishing adventure in the near future. Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712
Another great redfish bite! John Harrington and his friend wanted to catch some reds . They jumped on the big Skeeter with Capt Brady and the rest is history. The guys busted up the reds in high winds and a strong current to boot! The reds averaged 16-27 inches . Big fun on the DU today as everyone caught fish. Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712
Bobby Hernandez and crew fished with us last year and they were back on the DU for 2 great days of slamming the reds. The guys fished with Capt Andy Bean last year and wanted some more action on the Blazer Bay. Capt Andy put them on the fish both days with the crew reeling in hungry reds each morning. No shortage of redfish here on the DU! Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712
Great redfish bite on the DU! The stiff winds didnât stop Mr Woody Rust and crew from coming down to Dularge to bust up the fish. Woody fished with us last year and this year he brought some dads with their teenage sons to whack the bronze backs. The guys enjoyed their 2 night stay at the Lakehouse and theyâre already planning another trip!! The youngsters had a blast reeling in slot reds all morning which they thought were big until we got them on the 20-30 lb bulls. The bull reds had the guys running all over the boat trying to keep up! Great crew to spend the day with catching fish. Big thanks to Capts Andy Bean and Brady Giroir for their help taking great care of the guys. Good luck fishing!
Big thanks to our customers fishing with us the past week including Brian Kane & crew, Tim Read, James Bishop & crew, John Hutchinson & crew, Jimmie Daniel and Jim Enoches and his daughter Margaret. Everyone had a great time catching reds and speckled trout although the winds were screaming every day. Big thanks to Capts Alden & Andy for helping out with the customers. Looking forward to the month of May!!
Freshwater fishing has been off the charts the past 2-3 weeks. Fishing the Gibson area out of Bobs Bayou Black Marina has really heated up as the water is finally receding at a slow pace. Weâve been busting up the bass on mostly chartreuse/white Hum Dinger spinner baits in the ponds and canals. Perch are biting like crazy right now on your favorite jigs fished 15 inches under a cork. Now is the time!
Last week before the latest cold front (yesterday) the fishing was as good as it gets. Water temps in the 70âs had the fish eating up big time. Our week started off with Tim Haberberger and crew from TN. Capt Brady and I found 80 plus trout with the crew on Sunday. I followed up on Monday with 100 beautiful trout with Mark Fontenot and crew right before the other cold front moved in. Toward the end of the week it was another 75 trout along with a productive night catching frogs with Capt Alden and Andy. On Saturday we hit the bass hard with some nice fish out of Bayou Black. Rescheduled trips yesterday and today and hope to be back on the trout by Thursday. Enough of the cold fronts please.
Easy as it gets right now Down Dularge. Lawrence Brown, Chris Lake and I had a great time this afternoon with Gary Krouse . Lots of boats out today with everyone catching fish. We caught 72 trout in about 3 hours. The trout turned up their nose to our bunker swim baits which was a first. Pulled out a 3 inch LSU Bayou Chub Minnow and it was on big time with triple hook ups once the tide switched. Should be another greatâKeep On Castin Fishing Showâ once they put it all together. Good luck fishing!
The great Dularge trout bite continues as we enjoyed another productive day. Capt Alden fished with Dale and Roger from Arkansas . Big thanks to John Pittman for sending them our way. I fished with Heinke Trapp and George McCoy of Houma. Both boats had a good time reeling in hungry trout as we caught 150 nice fish between both of us. Bunker swim baits did the damage tightlined slow on the bottom. The fish averaged 12-17 inches and tide was falling hard. As usual good times on the DU. â

Great morning trip on the water for Capt Ricky Brondum and Billy !! 50 specks along with a couple bass hit the cooler. All fish caught tightlining â bunkerâ swimbaits. Great to finally get back on some specks. The trout were eating up on a falling tide with a very slow retrieve along the bottom. This trend should continue right on through the end of December. No place like the DU!
Thanks to Capt. Bill Lake for taking a little R&R in Fla. Capts Andy Bean, Eric Pellegrin and myself got to take Danny Domangue and crew on âthe best trip of their livesâ. From first cast to last, 4 hours later, these guys were on fish. All 3 boats combined boated over 100 fish. And if it could get any better, Chef Leonard had boiled shrimp and crabs when we got back. Fantastic day!!!
Chris, Ron, Nicole and Brian was on a catching spree with their adventure on the DU! Capt Alden put the team on the fish catching just about everything that swims in our waters. They caught over 40 fish, reds, drum, sheepshead and a couple of trout. Shrimp under a cork was the ticket. Nice to go catching instead of fishing.
I got a call from Gary Benoit who wanted to break in his new gator tail boat. We stayed close and fished behind the Lakehouse Lodge in the marsh and natural bayous. The north wind was not a problem and the fish cooperated for us. We started off the morning catching trout in a cut with falling water . Every now and then we would catch a red and a bass mixed in with the trout. We caught 28 fish before the bite played out. Made another move and got on the trout again. We hit one more spot which was a point with moving water and picked up 7-8 reds. Called it a day around 10:30 with a full box of fish. Garyâs gatortail ran like a beast and was clocked at 31 mph. Really enjoyed this trip deep in the marsh and never saw another boat all morning. Good luck fishing.
Another awesome day on the DU as Capt Alden and I whacked the trout. We actually caught our 50 fish in 40 minutes leaving them biting every cast. The winter pattern is set and going strong! Although there are still some good fish to be caught in the lakes most have pushed north into the deeper natural bayous and pipeline canals. We have been catching trout, reds and bass on bunker swim baits reeling with a steady retrieve along the bottom. December will be another great month to fish between the cold fronts when temperatures start to moderate. We have mostly weekdays available as weekends book up first. The trout have been very nice with 15-19 inch fish on average. We can hook you up!
Capt Bill Lake
Dr Chris Erickson and crew was back down on the DU for 2 days of fishing. They caught 50 reds in 2 days with Capt Ricky Brondum . The guys enjoyed their stay at the Lakehouse Lodge . Shrimp under the Horseman cork did the trick. Looking forward to their next trip. Thank you Dr Chris for your business. Good luck fishing.
What do you do with a last minute charter cancellation and the weather is perfect? Of course you go fishing! My son Chris and Capt Alden joined me for a quick trout slam!
75 trout in only 45 minutes!! The trout were eating up big time on our bunker swim baits. We had the fish coming in the boat every cast 3 at a time. The tide was falling hard and the fish were hungry . Another great day Down Dularge for sure.
Capt Bill Lake
Bruce, Will, and Andy Blanton had a great time busting up the reds with Capt Alden Yesterday. This is Andyâs second trip with us as he canât get enough of the DU. They had their 20 reds by 9:00am. Spent the rest of the day catching and releasing over 30 more fish. Happy Customers for sure. Great job Capt A!!!
Got a late start due to some early morning showers. Joining me for this trip were Joe LaPorte, his son Spencer and Kaija Johnson . Joe and his son fished with me last year about this time and they had a good time catching specks and a few reds. Today it was all reds and a few sheepshead . The crew reeled in fish one after the other for over 2 hours until full limits were iced up. Yes the biggest one got away but I wonât embarrass the person who lost it. Lol Just another great trip on the DU and a pleasure fishing with these guys.
Brian and Kelly Mauldin from Ms. joined me a few days ago to chase the speckled trout. This was the 2nd trip for Brian to the DU. The couple was ready to go after a relaxing night at the Lakehouse Lodge. We chased the trout and we caught them as they were eating up our bunker swim baits on a slow falling tide . A little slower action than the previous days but the couple were patient and it paid off with a full box. The trout averaged 14-18 inches today. We fished from 8:00 till shortly after noon. Another great day on the DU!
