Great to have Tim Downing from Indiana and his daughter Lea back on the DU for their annual Labor Day fishing trip. They fished 3 days catching over 60 fish. They always enjoy their stay at the Lakehouse Lodge and this year was no exception. Capt Ricky Brondum took them out the first day and I followed up with them on Sunday & Monday. The reds cooperated as usual and the father/daughter team whacked the reds in all shapes and sizes. They already booked for next year and I look forward to their return to the DU! Day 2 with John Byers & crew found them on board the big Triton with Capt Ricky Brondum. The crew whacked the reds and left them biting. Easy limits for the guys as the reds averaged anywhere between 16-29 inches. Some days are better than others as every day on the water is different. Good luck fishing.

More great redfish action for John Byers and crew ! Capts Alden & Brady fished with the guys the first day whacking the reds . The reds were finicky and a lot of water was covered to fill the boxes. One here one there for most of the day until Capt Brady got on a good bite around noon. The guys enjoyed their stay at the Lakehouse Lodge . John has been fishing with us for years and we appreciate his business. Good luck fishing.

Joel Crow and his son Logan from Texas joined me for 2 great days of catching redfish. They enjoyed their 2 night stay at the Lakehouse Lodge as the food is hard to beat in south Louisiana. Both days we beat up the reds pretty good catching nearly 50 fish . September is the month to catch big numbers of fish as they are stacked up in the holes the entire month. Give us a call at 985-637-3712 to reserve your date. Good luck fishing. Capt Bill Lake www.captlake.com

Mr Aldo has been trying to get to la. for years now. “ Louisiana is where you go to catch plenty of fish.” Well they can’t wait to do it again. Big surprise when a “ redfish” popped up and was a big ole mean alligator Gar. Fun times with this family. Everyone had a blast catching reds! Big thanks to Capt Ricky Brondum for showing this crew a good time.

Enjoyed a beautiful morning on the DU fishing with 13 yr old Evan Valicevic . Evan’s mom Becky joined us but did not partake in the fishing. We covered a lot of water looking for reds as Evan had not ever caught a redfish.... until today. It was a strange morning as most of our highly productive honey holes were not giving up the bronzebacks. However, we did fish one location where the reds were stacked up and hungry. Evan caught at least 12-15 reds on just about every cast. We actually left the fish biting to look for smaller slot reds. Probably a good thing as Evan needed a little break from the fast and furious action. Evan loves to fish and he never put the rod down all morning. I’m looking forward to fishing with him and Betsy again in November. I’m betting Evan will sleep good tonight. Good luck fishing. Capt Bill Lake

As per Capt Andy Bean...What a day ! Redfish was on the menu for Mr. James Fairchild and his crew. This crew is such a blast to fish with like always. Nonstop action, caught our 25 slots and went play with a few bulls!!! Can?t wait to do it again! Thanks Capt Ricky Brondum for running the second boat. Everyone had a great time catching fish! The Lake Mechant/Sister Lake area is loaded up with hungry reds right now. Next month the trout will be migrating into the lakes . Give us a call and we?ll hook you up!

Capt Brent Boquet had a crew from Alabama that wanted to bust up the reds. They arrived at the Lakehouse for their 2 night stay and headed out at daybreak . Capt Brent and the crew whacked the slot reds catching easy limits by mid morning. The weather prevented the guys from going offshore looking for trout and they enjoyed a catch & release bull red trip in the afternoon. Always a good plan B on the DU!

Got a call from Cris Gibson who was looking to take a crew to south Louisiana to catch big bull redfish. Chris is from Florida and 2 other members were from Ohio. I fished with Cris Gibson, Corey & Connor Gibson and Frank Diecidue. They really worked over the bulls catching 70 plus fish in 2 days. They enjoyed their 3 day stay at the Lakehouse Lodge and they rated their catch and release adventure 5 stars. Looking forward to fishing with this fun crew again soon. Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712

The redfish action was a little slower last weekend than we’ve been experiencing . John Pittman from Arkansas brought in 2 different groups to tackle the bronze backs . They enjoyed their 2 night stay at the Lakehouse I & II. Leonard did a superb job with the meals as usual. Capts Brady and Alden helped out with the big crew both days. No limits of reds either day but we caught enough to keep everyone happy. Thank you John Pittman for your business the past 15-20 years!

Dr. Monroe Howell from Thibodaux, La. brought Mike and David to get in on the fantastic trout bite over the last few days. 60+ specks, 20+ white trout and a big ole bull red( released) found their way into the box. The trout were caught on double rigs and some under a popping cork. No live bait was needed. Good company, good times, good fishing. Big thanks to Capt Ricky Brondum for showing the guys a great time on the DU!

A nice redfish trip was enjoyed by all for Kenny Walz and his crew from Alabama. Big thanks to Capt Andy Bean for showing the crew a good time. It was a little windy to get off the coast for trout so plan B was chasing the reds. This trip was earlier in the week. We have the best of both worlds right now down here on the DU . Redfish or trout .. we can hook you up! Good luck fishing. Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712

Tim Leblanc and crew from New Iberia drove in to the Lakehouse and enjoyed whacking the redfish ! The action started off slow but ended with a fast and furious bite! We just had to wait out the tide and it was on fire! Easy limits for Tim and the crew. A fun crew to fish with today! Big thanks to Capt Andy Bean for helping out with the second boat. Good luck fishing. #redfish down Dularge #lakehouselodge

David Simpson drove in to sample our fishing “Down In Dularge”! They jumped on the Blazer Bay with Capt Andy Bean and headed south at daybreak. The fishing was slow during the early morning hours just like yesterday. The bite picked up later in the day and they whacked the reds enjoying double and triple hook ups. Exact same pattern as yesterday. Capt Andy said they caught all nice slot reds with only one fish over the 27 inch mark. Happy customers for sure and they already planning a return trip to the DU! Good luck fishing. #Bayouguideservice#Lakehouselodge# fishbayoudularge#southlouisianavacations#Louisianaredfish

What a day with the Purdue family!!!! Knew the bite was going to be later so decided to let the traffic go and pull out at 8 am. Started off with a crazy drum bite then headed for the reds and wasn’t disappointed. Winds were bad but the fish are hungry. Capt Andy Bean showed this crew a great time on the DU catching redfish. The girls enjoyed sleeping late and were pumped up and ready to catch fish ! Good luck fishing. Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712

It’s been a few years since Alex Dempsey and crew had fished on the DU. They were back at the Lakehouse the past week and what a good time they had catching reds and trout. We fished Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning , Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Capt Brady helped out Wednesday as we chased the reds . Thursday morning we crushed the trout catching 100 nice fish on double rigged glow/chartreuse Bayou Chubs. The action was non stop with hungry trout chasing shrimp . The trout were not the only thing eating up big time as the crew enjoyed shrimp/okra gumbo, jambalaya, potato salad, fried speckled trout , shrimp stew along with all the usual fixings. A great time was had by all!! Good luck fishing. 985-637-3712

Dr. Emile Barrow brought his daughter Chris & hubby Tony back to the Lakehouse for a 2 day adventure. Emile’s 2 previous trips were redfish trips and the weather was perfect to chase the yellowmouths. Saturday & Sunday we caught hundreds of fish and had to go through plenty of throwbacks. The crew caught 97 trout that we could keep as the weather was picture perfect both days. Double rigged Bayou Chubs In glo/chartreuse and LSU did the trick. The crew enjoyed their 2 night stay at the Lakehouse ll. Emile is looking forward to another trip in October. Good luck fishing. Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712

Fun day on the water with Randall Johnson and crew from Monroe, La. Big thanks to Capts Brady, Alden and Andy for running with this crew on Saturday morning. The crew enjoyed catching trout and reds. We had to run and gun a bit today to find fish. Double rigs with assorted colors worked best. Leonard Adkins took care of the meals for the guys. Started off with a steak supper, breakfast and sandwiches on the boats and followed up Saturday night with a fried seafood extravaganza here on the DU at the Lakehouse! Everybody all smiles !!

Scott Quimby and his friend Brian from Stuttgard, AR drove in to the Lakehouse for their 2 day adventure. The guys could not have picked better days to fish. Capt Andy took them the first day and the guys whacked the slot reds catching easy limits. I took them the second day and they wanted the big bronze backs /bull reds since they caught the slots the previous morning. It was “ fish on” at our first stop as Brian & Scott had all they could handle with the bulls. The fish averaged between 22-38 lbs and it was every cast for the first hour! Whole crabs did the trick on a Carolina rig. Sure was fun fishing with Brian and Scott and Capt Andy and I look forward to their next trip to the DU! Capt. Bill Lake 985-637-3712

Great redfish and trout action for Gary Hughes and his friend Mike. They drove in from Texas and went straight to work catching the fish. On their 2 day adventure with Capt Andy Bean they loaded the boat both days with trout and reds. They caught and released bull reds after filling the boat with slot reds. No shortage of fillets for this crew to bring home. Big thanks to Capt Andy for showing Gary and Mike a good time on the DU! Good luck fishing. Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712

Yes guys she is one tough lady and we thank you for the good thoughts and prayers. It's been a challenge both mentally and physically for Jean to overcome this horrible disease. Chris and I are truly amazed at her spirit and strength in fighting this cancer . We are truly blessed to have her back in the boat again, driving her car again, playing in the flower beds again and doing things that we all take for granted. No more wheel chairs and walkers for her!! I am truly blessed to be able to go to work again doing what I love and yes God is great!! Miracles do happen as I feel we witnessed one first hand!

No live bait Tony! Only use plastic, chick on a chain wedge tails and LSU Bayou Chubs. Cajun pepper working good too.

Plenty of small fish on the inside but you will have to move off the coast for larger fish and much greater numbers.

The trout we caught yesterday were still in a winter pattern in the canal systems to the north . Stick to the winter pattern until mid march.

Trout have been in Decade since mid October! Weather conditions dictate when you can catch them or not. The trout can be finicky in Decade as they are either 'on' or 'off'. You gotta go to know!! If you launch at Jugs at end of road you can catch all the trout you want in Bayou Seveur right now! It's on fire!!
