Hi all,
We have a rodeo every year where a bunch of us take kids w/ CF and their familys out for a days fishing and at the same time we have a tourney for all who are interested in fishing.
The tourney is held out of BSM and this year it will be on apr 18th 2009. registration is $35 per fisherman and prizes are awarded . last year king fisherman won 2 round trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S.
We also have food and drink for all fishermen and lots of door prizes.
This year there is something new to help raise $$$ for the louisiana cystic fibrosis chapter.
I have gotten 4 guided trips donated and we will be raffleing them off at $20 per chance. only 2500 tickets were printed and thats all that will be sold. so ev1 has a decent chance at winning.
winners will be drawn at the tourney and you do not have to be present to win.
If anyone wants to purchase tickets please contact me at or contact me thru this site.
All donations are tax deductable and we hope ya'll will come on down and fish w/ us.
If any capitans are interested in donating a trip to help out this cause PLEASE contact me and i will give you the details and discuss this w/ you.
Thanks Bob

A comment titled: hmmmm in response to a report titled: Anyone an electrician?

Don't know the age of your house or who wired it but alot of older houses were neutral broke switches. there is allways 110 volts at the socket and the neutral is broken at the switch.
Turn the breaker off and pull the switch . If the white wire is at the switch on both screws this is neutral switch. the omly way to kill 110 at the socket is to turn off breaker. other than that call an electrician to come trouble shoot the circut. i had one the other day that had no power in the bath ,1 bed room and the hall. when i finally got the homeowner to tell me that he had changed a outlet in his bed room i checked it and he had hooked the wires up wrong, Lucky he didnt have a big problem.

Check out harbor freight for a wagon. Also, Check out a garden cart. Got bicycle wheels and will hold your ice chest and gear and you can make a pvc rod holder that will clamp to it for the rods.

rick ,
i agree w/ you except what you are quoting is federal law . The louisiana courts rule that the landowners can post the waters and that means that they own them and that means that just like my front yard. If someone gets hurt i'm liable.
That's one of the reasons that everything has been posted in the last few years.
Stae waterways are owned by the public . waters that are posted are owned by the landowners and if you get hurt on their water they are liable.

April 15, 2010 at 9:44pm
A comment titled: Hmmmmm in response to a report titled: kicked out again need help, info

We all know the laws need to be changed and / or clarified.
I do not own land in the marsh and am totaly against the posting or gating of flowing waterways.
I go as far as asking any guide that i am considering a trip with if they fish in gated areas? If they do ,I find another guide to fish with.

BUT! In changing the laws . The landowners who own the land and are claming the waters Will have to be absolved of the liability if someone gets hurt on the water that flows through their property.
That has to be the first step in the change.
On the other hand ,any land owner who gates a waterway should be held liable for injurys if someone is out fishing at night and runs into an unlighted gate.
I will never believe that any landowner owns flowing ,navitable waterways . But we have to understand that the way our state laws are written landowners are liable and they don't want to get sued either.

My Protest
I will re-up with the CCA to be eligable for the Star Tournament only. I am boycotting the several banquets I usually make b/c I disagree with the CCA's stance on the gated canal issue and the bowfising for redfish issue.

Beast, from your post, it is obvious you do not think bowfishing is "fishing". As I see it, bowfishing is fishing and the CCA's stance is seeking to take one method of fishing away from me

If you sign up the star tourney then you support CCA.
can't have it both ways. Either you support them or you don't.
I hope i catch a tagged redfish so that i can post it and show cca that there's one less for everyone that enters to catch.
IMO, without the star tourney ,CCA could not stay viable in Louisiana.
There deep pocket landowners (LLA) and others are only going to give so much.
and before any of you bash me on this ( which i really don't care ) Ask cca if they are willing to not hold the star tourney for 1 year.Want to bet dollars to doughnuts what their answer would be?

Bayou thunder is a natural bayou and is no way shape or form posted. Now the area around the gated area just to the north has allways been posted and there is / was pilings on the boundrys of their property.
I have not been in that area since the last storm so i don't know if they are still there.
The area i'm talking about is west of La.1 there is a spot where there is a road going into the marsh w/ some kind of white structure in the back that is gated. This area has pilings on the boundrys and has been activly posted for at least the 40 years i've been fishing down there.
Now the rest of that area is bayou thunder and other natural bayous that go all the way to the gulf . None of these canals are man made. There are oil field canals off of this bayou that are man made and therefore could be claimed as private. I can put my boat in at the first bridge on bayou thunder and stay in natural waterways and
pull up on the back side and be surf fuishing on elmers isle right where it meets the fourchon property w/o ever going thru a man made waterway. So there is alot of water to fish around there w/o going into the posted area.

A comment titled: Hmmmmm in response to a report titled: Your turn to impact legislation

Since it has gotten deleted on another post i'll try again.
I have finally figured out why CCA / LLA is trying to ban bowfishing for Redfish.
LLA is all for the gating of public waterways and we find out today that CCA is in bed w/ them.
If you gate a canal you can keep all the fishermen in boats out except air boats. They can go whereever in the marsh they want in an airboat.
If you can't stop the airboats you stop the reason they are there.
This is just another CCA Back door blindside of the louisiana sportsmen that used to support them.
