Louisiana has a good crop of hogs again this year, had a chance to pop a little 70 pound er this second weekend at Sherburne, first trip in da woods and only 30 minutes into a walk, spotted a small group of 5 or 6, all just under a hundred pounds, took steady aim with the ruger 10-22, down came dinner. all over with in less than 1 hour was back at the truck. yip-eeeeee, go get em guy's ( pic is of 325 taken at Sherburne a couple years ago )
24' Formula offshore hull, cuddy cabin is good condition, has canvas top that snaps to windshield, this hull has seen it's last days offshore, unless someone wants to rebuild the back end. i've pretty much stripped it and it looks like the hull would make for a nice cheap house boat getaway type hull, i have the papers on the hull, all good, it can be re-powered and fished again, or turned into a giant duck blind, camp boat, powered or non-powered.
there is no leaks at all, hull is in very good condition, original had inboard / outboard engines, then converted to big outboard, not no power at all, 500 for hull only, another 700 for trailer, trailer has no papers, will consider trades.
Holly Smoke, this is the BEST season opening in 30 years, two pol deaux limits and 2 duck limits in first 2 days. DUCKS AND Deaux's everywhere, i saw a group of a hundred deaux's in the bayou on the way in , ready for tomorrow's ru.n
i bought a duck stamp at walmart, because they told me i had to buy it through the wild life and fiseries with my basic license, then they went on to tell me that the wild life and fisheries would mail a real stamp to me, well here we are 60 days later and no duck stamp in the mail, i also find out the license is not valid after 45 days. now wlf tells me it's my `problem, if i want a current one to go on the post office web site and buy one, or don't go hunting until i get mines in the mail
just wondering if Lake Boeuf will have more birds than hunter's on opening day ? any reports form the lake, not that it matters a whole lot, gonna be there any way, along with a million orthers
How do i get a pass to launch at cloverly farms, i hear it cost ( $$$ ) now, how much, does anybody know?
Does any one know where i can check the Boat registration or HID #'s to see if they are clean, i want to buy a used boat but want to make sure i'm not paying for a stolen vessel.
Any info would be helpful.
Has any body ever tried to pull a 16 foot trawl with a mud boat ? , i'd like to know what to expect with my gtr 35 pulling a 16' balloon trawl.
House Bill 1082 by Rep. Stuart Bishop has passed the House of Representatives and the Senate Natural Resources Committee. HB 1082 would increase the Louisiana Saltwater License Fee from $5.50 to $13.00. This additional revenue would be used specifically for enhanced data collection and to implement an enhanced science based management program. It has been 15 years since Louisiana had an increase to our Saltwater License Fee.
This was on monday when the woods were quiet, the big ducks responded to call very well. could have shot a bunch of teal and woodies early but decided to wait for the big ducks, and it paid off good.
this is a Louisiana buck, could you even pick up your jaw if you saw this buck coming your way , old memories of jaw droppers. read the story of this giant in Louisiana, http://www.northamericanwhitetail.com/2010/09/22/weirdwhitetails_wt_ww1201walker/
FYI, i checked out sec 120 today, drug bottom all the way back, no water, only saw about a dozen woodies, don't look to good for Saturday opening.
i think I'll try the open water at indian bayou, saw greys, teal and plenty pol'deaus from i10 crossing.
try for head shot each time, the usually drop on the spot, only use a very accurate fast shooting .22 rim fire, bigger they are the harder they fall,
i've never seen these color's before, big as a banana spider. picture taken in the basin.
Last i knew if i bought a gun/rifle from a LA resident i did not have to register it, a few years ago i bought a 7 mag from a local lady, i called the sheriff office and asked if there was some sort of transfer we ( the seller and buyer )needed to do . i.e. apply for registration, i was told no, a simple signed bill of sale in between the 2 parties was enough, now i'm on the atf site and read this article below, did i miss something ?

i truly the mighty mississippi river holds more cats than anywhere else in the lower 48, but i also believe there are best and worse places, i found a good spot in near fort jackson, from 50 - 100 pounders caught often.
we got that, commercial live year round, email details, purdy dawg seafood.
Who ever hunts sec 120 is flat out desperate for a punishment from all sides. i'll never go back. i'm doing 100 times better away from that hell hole. At least i get my undisturbed limit every hunt now.
Damm, funny you ask this, it is by far the best, plenty people know that, and never any good because you have to stay within eye sight of it, or it will disappear fast..............
congrads
happens every year at this time, when will people learn, lock stuff up, put cameras and warning signs up, if you can afford get ADT.. Good luck.
isn't this place public land ?, j.s.
sunday hog walk, it was just after mid day sunday that the 70 pound pig fell, i hunt off feeding times, could be any time daylight for me.
woodland scent thermo-cell, a must have in the swamps, especially sherburne.J/S
here's my in take on hunter effort per kill, i consider myself a good to above average hog hunter, close to 100 kill's since 2000, no take maurepas swamp, i figure on about 60 to 70 hours effort to kill or even get a shot, n the other hand Sherburne, i can get a shot daily, about a 10 hour hunter effort per shot. ez math to me.
got a 70 pound sunday, only took 1 hour total, hunted from the road behind the boat launch.
Sherburne has a healthy stock again this year
they are there, M - swamp, not very many tho. alligators keeping the population down. better going to sherburne,
bottom line, is if the weather is very cold it will bring the flocks further south. period,
mother nature will control your season !
sherburne, save your self wasted time, there's way to many hunters at Sherburne for me, every 80 yards, a good hunter can call ducks and h=get them to break and swing, but before you would have half a chance at shooting, there is always someone else popping sky high shots, it sux there.
start with length of shaft verses transom height. , sounds like a 25 inch shaft with 20 or 21 inch transom, also bay boats run much different than bass boat hulls. and 1 more thing, while boat on trailer, try putting engine in level position, check indicator, see if it shows medium, it just might be showing you a wrong reading.
Hot, Hot, Hot, live bait
jack plate, needed, or needs adjustment
fall, the cooler temps bring em in, colder it get the more come inside
Purdy Dawg, thought it is best !
