Just a little FYI... Game wardens are now waiting at the launches on this wma(especially Section 120) and handing out tickets for entering the wma before 4 AM. I was always under the impression you could not launch before 4:00. but this is not the case. There will be no more blocking the boat launches and waiting for 4:00 to launch. Just trying to help some people out before you all get tickets.

Looking to get some contact information for this club. It's located in Henderson near Sherburne WMA. I have a camp nearby and would like to see if they have opening or even a waiting list. Any little info is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was wondering if anyone could get me some info on any clubs or leases in the Atchafalaya/Henderson area? I don't mind getting on a waiting list if possible. I just recently got a camp very close to Sherburne WMA and would like to find a club in the area. I plan on hunting the management area meantime. Thanks in advance. Contact Dustin at

I had the pleasure of fishing today with a good friend, Sean Garic and new friend, Mr. Joe Landry. We arrived at Campo's around 6 and picked up 150 of their famous live shrimp. Hit the water and made the run out into the sound. Made or first stop and didn't have to move anymore. Managed to box 71 keeper trout with many mixed throw backs before running out of shrimp. All fish were caught either Carolina rigged live shrimp or shrimp under a popping cork. The fish are biting and they shouldn't be stopping anytime soon. Get out there and get you some!

Made a trip Tuesday night with a couple buddy's and the fish were stacked in the marsh. We shot 15 reds, a few drum, some sheephead and ended up shooting a 6 foot gar which I think almost caused more damage than what it's worth. We also seen a gar even bigger than the one we shot but didn't wanna risk tearing anything up.

Made another trip last night. Good sized fish with the biggest going 32'. Three man limit pretty quick, these fish are feeding like crazy right now. Starting to find plenty crabs in the stomachs of the reds. Also seeing more and more crabs as we are bowfishing. Good signs, maybe crabs wil be abundant this year.

March 08, 2014 at 6:32pm

Made a bow fishing trip Friday night with four buddies. we launched around 7:30 and was done witht he first limit by 8:30. We loaded the boat up and headed to get some food. we dropped the fish off and decided to wait around until midnight to make another go at it since we hated to leave the fish! We totaled 50 reds and a handful of black drum. Awesome night and some great footage taken with the go pro. This is my first attempt at making a video, so please give me some feedback! Thanks!

Well we launched at Venice marina and turned out into the beautiful GREEN colored Mississippi River. Yep I said green, for those of you that don't know, the river turn from that good ol chocolate milk river we all know to a beautiful free. During the month of September. We started out fishing some rocks in the river and caught a couple small ones. We then ran south to pass a loutre and caught a few keepers on spinnerbaits. Then around 9 I could tell the tide was beginning to pull out pretty good so we moved to south pass and starte throwing dead shrimp on the bottom. We threw against the grass line in around 4-6 ft of water and caught red after red all between the 16-20 inch range. The rocks are usually really well in the Rowe this time of the year but it seemed the water got alot more pretty around the head of passes area so maybe the rock along southwest pass could produce a little better. We ended the day with 17 reds and 1 sheephead. I will have pictures soon to come.

Headed out this morning to some platforms with the amazing weather. Was calm and beautiful! All fish were caught on Matrix Shad Green Hornet and Tiger Bait a few fish came off of Vudu under a popping cork. we had a blast and even caught a couple jack carvelles and Spanish mackerel! Finished with 29 very nice trout. We missed just as many as we caught! Ran up to some canal and bayous for reds on the bottom with cracked crab and only produced some cats. All in all a great and fun day. No wind was nice for the run but it sure got hot quick!

Just looking for a little insight on fishing cocodrie or DuLarge... it all looks the same on the map just have never physically been, guess I'm just worried about wasting my time. Any areas would help or if there's anything I should know about or be sure to stay clear of down there. Thanks In advanced.

This is the first father's day we have spent together in a long time. Got my dad to go buy him a brand new rod and reel for Sunday. Planning on spending some time just him and I in Hopedale. Only place I've ever fished in hopedale is the rock dam right out of Breton sound marina. I'm trying to make tomorrow a great Time with him and want to catch some specks. Can anyone give me any areas or ideas to try? I'm in my go devil so running really far is out of the question. This day will be great wether we catch fish or not just trying to make it best I can. Thanks everyone.

April 11, 2013 at 2:00pm

Made my trip to Delacroix Friday and I was hoping the Warmer weather would make for a good trip. Launched at Serignes because sweetwaters current boat ramp construction. Be ready to wait for the launch being everyone is currently launching here. Better Serignes or sweetwater had live shrimp so we got some cacahoes. Ran towards four horse and made a stop at lake John where we picked up one trout on live cacahoe and the started to run south hoping the fish are one the move south. Ran all the way to pintail flat and fished point there and along the where that I've had previous success on and came up empty. Just a rough day, the best report I had from the launch friday was 12 so I wish y'all luck and hopefully this warm weather turns the bite around. Thanks.

A comment titled: Re: Sherburne WMA in response to a report titled: Sherburne WMA

Y'all are hitting the nail on the head!!! The new staging area turned in to the intersection of bayou Manuel Rd and whiskey bay highway. They blocked Manuel and it seemed like the drive back there was okay but once the boats launched people were trying to pass each other in the runs and if you ever been out there that extremely dangerous. If this keeps up you will see some people get hurt. What made me mad the most is the agent let some people go with no ticket thy morning and after I questioned him he tells me he was going to their homes to write citations after. Are you kidding me? I'm not a moron!!! If you are giving out tickets everyone deserves one that is there or no one gets one. I just asked for equality. #hunterslivesmatter

A comment titled: Re: Sherburne WMA in response to a report titled: Sherburne WMA

You are exactly right. There's not area designated to lining up or staging for the 4 am race to the launch. This will just make some other area congested and cause even more problems in the future if everyone does follow the rules. And yes I was told the same in the past by wardens that we just couldn't launch before 4:00. So what are you supposed to believe?? How is it fair to the honest hunters that try and follow rules and regulations of not being at the launch until 4 when hunters that are not as responsible for checking on the regulations will be out there at 3:00 and leaving the honest hunter no where to hunt because the wardens are not enforcing the rules enough. It's just kind of aggregating.

A comment titled: Re: Sherburne WMA in response to a report titled: Sherburne WMA

Well they are getting super strict out at sherburne and checking you for everything. I've been hunting out there seven years and we have waited at the launches until 4 and never heard a word about it. Kind of thought that was the rule. I was wrong and they game warden let me know. Not even giving us a warning for during something that has became a normality and partially their fault for not enforcing those rules in the past.

Canal Bank is the bar room that kindly lets us host these tournaments and we thank them very much. Canal Bank is on the Diversion Canal and connects to the Blind River water systems.

The best maps by far are the ones made by Legend Cartography. You may not like the price but it is basically google maps/google earth brought to your unit. It is the best thing for inshore fishing, or any south louisiana angler.

February 22, 2015 at 6:41pm

I have a camp out there and we do okay. It's not one of the best places in the state to hunt but there are ducks there. Only problem out there is it is limited on area to hunt. What I mean is, there is only so many holes to hunt and the birds get very educated out there. This year there was a ridiculous amount of people, especially on weekends. You can forget finding a hole far away from anyone, unless you feel like getting there at midnight or before. The weekdays are not as bad and that the only time I will try and hunt it now. It seemed to be over run with youunger crowds that I guess people are calling the 'Duck Dynasty Generation' of hunters. Just to let you know an outboard is out of the question and a go devil or surface drive is a must. And no you shouldnt have problem with locals ripping your motor off or slashing tires, atleast i have not heard of that happening yet.

A comment titled: Rental in response to a report titled: ATV Bushhog?

Im not sure as to what exact location you need to get to, but AAA Rental rents out a brush thinner that is self propelled. If you dont have a ridiculous walk this thing is great for cutting trails or clearing spots in the woods. I used one on my lease this year and was very impressed!!! Cuts down anything you can get it on top of. If you can cut evrything in a single day i think the rental was less than $100 a day.

A comment titled: Sorry in response to a report titled: Wednesday Evening Tournaments

Sorry for the late response. We had a little over 30 boats show up and fish last Wednesday, which was a pretty good showing. 10.70 with 5 fish was the winning weight and i beleive the big bass was caught by a different team and it went a little over 3. These tournaments will be held at the same place and same time every Wednesday. We are shutting the tournament down this week becuase of high water and property damage risks to residents on the river. We will resume the tournament next week April 16. We are also giving everyone credit for this weeks tournament being it is an uncontrollable issue. Any questions or concerns contact Dustin @ 2252814443

I dont have any pics of my set up. My boat is only 16 foot and i have a small setup with all halogens at the moments pushing almost 1800 watts. Im going to be switch to hps(high pressure sodium) lights very soon. my buddy has a set up with hps and it penetrates the water like you wouldnt believe. Go to you tube and check out my video called bowfishing madness. We made it a few weeks ago if you have not already seen it. That is my buddys set up with hps.

I went Sunday and left with 5 nice reds and 5 good bass... There was boats all over if you can find a run out with some moving water with around 6ft water the reds and bass are stacked.. We also hit some shallow ponds with secluded grass beds in about 2 ft of water and reds were holding in them just have to present the bait without getting all in the grass.

A comment titled: HPS in response to a report titled: Bowfishing Madness

That is a friends boat and that is HPS in the video. I've bow fished with HPS, LED, and halogen. HPS is by far the best when it comes to water penetration. While the rave is about LED and them running on batteries, I found that it reflected more light off the surface than penetrates. I would rather plain old halogen over LED. Only this about HPS is they are fairly heavy but at the same time you can buy some 150 watts which are about the same size as a 500 halogen and put out just as much light. Every one has their opinion and this is mine... HPS all the way, I'll be switching all my halogen soon.
