Has anyone been doing any Bass fishing in Spanish Lake? I went when I was a kid but haven't heard anything about the lake since. Not looking for anyones honey holes or secret baits. Just want to know if I'd be wasting my time going out there. Any word is greatly appreciated.

I'm looking at buying a 6'10" Falcon Cara rod. There are two in a heavy action, The Head Turner and the Grass rod. The descriptions I have found according to the Falcon site are Identical except the Head Turner has a split grip. Has anyone fished these and is the grip the only difference? Any info would be appreciated.

Has anyone tried the E21 Carrot Stix yet. Like the feel but read a few bad reviews about durability. I understand a good sensitive rod is not going to be an Ugly Stick, but I don't want to be snapping rods on the hookset either. I would appreciate any info if anyone has tried 'em.

I have never had the pleasure of fishing Miller's lake before. Me and a buddy are gonna head that way on Saturday despite the predicted weather. Any tips for luring ol' Bucket Mouths would be greatly appreciated. And can you run anywhere in the lake of is it on a bouy system?

Just got back Sunday. We were bass fishing most of the weekend but my buddy caught some big slabs in the back of San Miguel. They were around the buckbrush with grass in them. Rain didn't seem to mess up the fishing for bass or sacs.

I caught an 8 inch polywog while carolina rigging a ten inch worm out of Charenton Beach last year. When I set the hook I thought I had missed him.

I don't mind seeing guys keep a few bass for the freezer. What I don't care for is ignorant people who don't realize that when they keep big fish during the spawn, they aren't just keeping that one fish, but the hundreds of offspring that it could potentially hatch. Not only are they keeping the numbers down, but they are killing the potential for big bass on the waterway. Then when a lake gets fished out, they are the first ones to cry about not catching. It is people like them who give sportsmen a bad rap. Conservation is what will keep the sports that we love alive. I know I won't change anyones mind who won't listen without critisism, but I will continue to do my part and hope that others will do the same.

The Best fish I've caught this time of year have all come off of cypress trees in the lake. Spinnerbaits work well and if they are spawning on the roots it's hard to beat a brush hog. Also try a Fluke around the boat docks and in the back of the grassy pockets. I have always heard the bass fishing is better in Saline so if you have the fuel to run there it might be worth it.

Thanks guys. I'm lookin at the 6'9" mh rod for pitchin. what do you guys think about it. I'm not big on long rods as I am not a tall fella. 6'8" to 6'10" rods are what I prefer.

Sorry to hear the "bass guys" where you're from may be @*&holes, but just as there are bad apples fishing for greenbacks, there are plenty willing to slow down, wait their turn at the launch, and gladly share tips and pointers at the landing. Bass fishing takes a skill that anyone who isn't avid about it really couldn't understand. Everyone is entitled to catch the fish of their choice and more power to them. But I certainly don't appreciate you, Best Hunter Alive, or anyone else talking down on us because of our favored species.

Don't let this get under your skin. Saltwater fishing is just glorified bream fishing. Anyone who says bass fishing is easier hasn't spent many days fishing for 'em. And stocked ponds don't count. And to you, Best Hunter Alive, If you don't think bass fishermen are hardcore, you don't know any real bass fishermen.

Man I love to fish San Miguel. Haven't had a chance to go yet this year but from what I'm hearing the buck brush will be out of the picture. If they are still spawning, head to the back and find some pockets with grass. Flip the plastic of your choice or throw a senko or wacky worm. A Fluke can produce well too if they are chasing bait fish. If the fish have begun to move out, try the flat on the north side of San Miguel's mouth. Also, the old 1215 Hwy will hold some good fish. Can't go wrong with a carolina rig or a big crank bait.

We Were fishing on the back side of that front and struck out til around noon fishing the trees. We started flipping the docks by the launch and that's where we caught all 4. Our biggest was just shy of 4 lbs. but all seemed to have spawned already.

I have to say I love the new Curados. I would definately say give it another chance to get used to the small size. If it's still not for you, I would try the 300E. It has the same body as the 200D. You cant go wrong with Shimano and you can't beat the Curado.

I shoot the same rifle and I have tried a few different loads. Best one so far is the 160 grain nossler partition by federal. I have shot deer as close as 50 yards with it out to 250 yards. None have taken another step. At both ranges the bullet mushrooms beautifully. 7mm entry wound, 3 to 4 inch exit. Hope this helps I know i'm a little late.

There was a kill but I don't think it was nearly as bad as Rita. We caught a few bass in January and Febuary during the warm spells and put a few in the boat a week ago. It is muddy but the water level is perfect. by April and May I expect to see a lot of short fish again and hopefully a lot of 2 pounders that grew a few inches from last year. Best thing I can tell you is find some clear water and work a jig or sweet beaver SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW.
