I was lucky enough today to fish with Rick Brooks, Troy, and John from BR. These guys are great and really make a day at work like a vacation! We got on the big trout early and filled the big Skeeter fish box to the brim! 3-5 pound trout. On the way in we hit a redfish hole that I haven't tried in 10 years and scored big time!!! 15 casts, 15 redfish in the box! A great day with some great guys. It was pretty rough today but the big Skeeter handles rough water great. I've had a few folks that have fished in some Gravois type (wannabe a Gravois) boats recently and they say that the big skeeters and Rangers are head and shoulders better in rough water. They can't believe how dry and smooth these big fiberglass boats ride. And our live shrimp will live twice as long as a wannabe Gravois. Just saying. Lol

We have 5 boats available so call and come experience the finest fishing in the WORLD! Venice, LA

VENICE CHARTERS REPORT-I was lucky enough to take out David Gary and his buddies from Southern Marsh on Monday. These guys have a great line of fishing clothes and a barracuda wire sunglass strap thats really unique! We started out looking for redfish and the first stop was the ticket! The guys fished spinnerbaits and H&H soft plastic next to the rouseau canes for some serious action..In less than an hour, we had our limit of pretty reds and went looking for speck trout.. We found a few nice trout and finished the day with some Bass action! Venice grand slam, bass, redfish, and speckled trout all in the same day!!Give us a call @ 225-268-8420 or go to my site to book your spring VENICE CHARTER!

I took out Toby and his 10 yr old son, Isaiah. We got on the trout early on live shrimp and they caught their limit at the first stop. 8:30 am. On to the redfish hole. Easy limit there, quick. Isaiah caught some really nice trout and the biggest red of the day! He had a ball, but was ccomplaing that his arm hurt from reelin in all those redfish.LOL. We also had two big doormat flounder............We are pretty limited in the area we can fish right now from the oil spill closures. But the calm winds and great conditions are giving us a break and THE FISH ARE

My customers this morning said, 'We really like speckled trout. Don't really care about reds'. Music to Capt. Brent's ears. I pointed the big Skeeter up river and popped out near Ostrica. It didn't take very long to get back on the trout. I had a pretty box a few days ago off this reef, and they were there, BIG TIME. They limited there on Blue moon with Chartreuse tail Deadley Dudleys under Bomber Corks.. Nice trout in the 16-19 inch range.A couple of Lagniappe Juice enticed REDFISH, and a cold Kentwood, and we headed in.....Back at the Lodge now eating Capt. Larry's famous pork chops and fried cornbread!!!WE ARE STILL FISHING HERE AT VENICE CHARTERS. Call 225-268-8420 for

Smashed the reds yesterday with my trio from Atlanta. Kevin, Curt, and Taylor were catching from the moment the power pole hit the bottom. Boxed limit then caught and released a bunch. Probably caught 40-50 pretty and they headed back to ATL with sore arms and an ice chest full to the top with redfish filets. And a big flounder thrown in for Lagniappe. Jigs under rattle corks were best, but we caught some on spinnerbaits too. Booking up fast for the VENICE spring bite. Call 225-268-8420 or Captain Brent Roy

The weekend was pretty good to us in Venice. Friday was pretty tough, but a friend still limited out on nice redfish. I didnt get on the fish. But we really waxed them on Sunday. Fishing along the canes with Rattle corks and Deadley Dudley Terror tails with a little squirt of Lagniappe Juice saltwater attractant, my customers landed a nice limit of 15 redfish. The surprise of the day was, we also caught a dozen REALLY nice Speckled Trout, from 2lb -4.5lb. A great day on the water. Check us out at Brent Roy-225-268-8420

I had the pleasure of fishing with four great men from all over the country. These guys are in S LA as volunteers for Habitat for Humanity. They are building houses for the needy. Well, they wanted to catch a few redfish while they are here. I figured we might be able to catch a limit but I didn't expect to catch 50! We caught 4 limits easily at my first stop on rattle corks and shrimp. Left there when they slowed down. Well, spot two was absolutely infested with 25-40 inch reds. Every cast. The guys caught and released thirty or so more and we left em biting. Fun day at the office. If you are feeling the blues since hunting season is over and need an outdoor fix, give us a call. or call 225-268-8420... Three or four guys fish for only $200 each!

The redfish continue to be hot in Venice. Limits are easy and Capt. Larry reported a limit in only 20 minutes the other day. With the river influence still muddy, look for pockets of "cleaner" water. You may never find green water, but cleaner muddy water is all it takes sometimes. Often, the green water is just a foot or so under the murk. Chrt plastic tipped with shrimp has been the top producer, as usual. Duck reports are spotty. I talked to a friend that killed 20 one day and 2 the next, same spot. I think the high river and abundance of floodd crops up north really hurt us. Even the places I hunt in Arkansas have been poor this year. The birds are just scattered out.....We have two camps for rent for your next trip to Venice. If youre looking for more than a hotel or a FEMA trailer, check us out. Also have a couple of boat sheds for lease. Happy Holidays and hope you all have a great New Year!...Captain Brent for rental info or charter info...

Really pounded the big specks this morning downriver. I had the owner of Sammys Grill today with three boats. He treated his Managers to some of what VENICE IS FAMOUS FOR!! We caught around 200 really nice, large Venice speckled trout and a bunch of reds on Billy Bay shrimp and live Venice Marina shrimp. Great group of guys. The guy that owns the restaurants really knows how to treat his employees. They went home with sore arms and full ice chests. RENT- TURNKEY,NEW 2br,2 bath, sleeps 5. Had my good friend and client Mr Boone again today from HBURG. Chased the teal yest pm with no luck. Told them I'd make up for it with a limit of trout this morning. Started with a bang with 11 BIG specks hitting the ice quick, like 11 casts. Then, a LARGE bullshark ate a 4 pound speck boatside...Trout and bullsharks apparently don't coincide. That shut the bite OFF. But with a little persistence and a ton of patience we figured out that the trout had gone deeper. Once we found em, that was it. Caught the rest of a 3 man limit on H&H plastics and Deadley Dudley terror tails....of really big specks for this time of yr. Topped it off with a 3 man limit of Teal this afternoon and had a ball working my new dog Dixie. She has picked up over 60 teal so far for Venice Charters. She is 1.5 yrs old...She'll be wanting dental and full medical soon, shes a hard worker...Booking Oct-Dec trips now....Cast and Blast trips are 225-268-8420

I've got a few open sheds if you are looking for a place to keep your duck boat this duck season in Venice. We offer 40x14 galv steel boat storage units with concrete floor and electricity. Rent monthly or yearly, your choice. Fully furnished camps on site, as well, for rent nightly.

Fishing has been great down in Venice. Been catching a bunch of tripletail and saw one boat bring in 10 big one in the 15-20 lb range. Tuna bite has been great and the inshore fishing is still good. We sight fished redfish over the weekend and caught limits each day. My crew had 60 pretty specks on Tuesday.

VENICE CHARTERS UNLIMITED, LLC- Captain Larry Averitt and I had Marty Mangrum and his group yesterday. We started off in an area where we have been catching some big trout. The stiff SE winds had stirred that area up, though, and we ended up going to the east and fishing the canes. We got on a great bite with a little assistance from our friend Jimmy Boyce and put 100 trout in the boats quick. The big trout we caught Wednesday are still there, just need calm conditions to catch them. All fish yesterday were on live shrimp or Chrt plastics under a rattle cork..Both boats had a few redfish mixed in..

Had a great group of guys out this week from the Baton Rouge area. All four boats caught redfish and a few black drum and trout. Saturday, we had Jason Mcmurray and some friends down for a Bachelor party and the 4 guys caught over 140 redfish that morning. I scouted a little while yesterday afternoon and found the trout. They are getting close to really busting loose. Couldnt get a bite under a cork, all bites on purple/chrt paddle tails cranked on 1/4 oz heads. Today will probably be a redfish event with wind forcast to be 15-20 SE. But it's not blowing too bad right now down here. 5 kt SSE. A comment titled: I flew down to Venice yesterday in response to a report titled: The official Isaac thread

Andy, I flew down yesterday in my friend Windy Gladney's seaplane. We landed in Tiger Pass and tied the plane up at Venice Marina. There was really not that much damage at the marina. Some sections of the fuel dock and the board walks were missing but the store and restaurant looked untouched. Most of the houseboats were ok, with some minor roof damage seen. The condos looked fine. Brent Ballay said there was about two feet of water in the lower part of his condo, which means a 6 ft surge or so..Nothing like the 25 ft surge we got from Katrina. Paul at the marina was kind enough to let Windy and I use his truck to drive and ck on my properties and Windys big Donzi. My camp had a few shingles blown off, but all of my rental boat sheds and rental camps are fine, with damage only to one shed door! We will be back fishing as soon as the water is off the road at M Grove and the power is restored to Venice. I guess 10 days to 2 weeks. My heart goes out to those folks in the Braithwaite area. We flew over and they really had a big surge. Hope this info helps you guys that love Venice like I do. Keep the faith, we will be fishing again before ya know it.

A comment titled: Simply the best. in response to a report titled: Front to Back Boat Services?

Ive done business with the Trolling motor shop(Front to Back) for years and they are top notch. Great service and unbeatable knowledge of trolling motors. Sometimes the parts have to be ordered or they are backordered. Sh%& happens. Get over it. If you want it done right the first time, bring it to Front to Back. Period. Or take your chances with someone else....Your Brent Roy
