I am looking to book a Offshore charter trip for my family of 5. We want to target a mixed bag of fish. Cobia, Amberjack, Mahi Mahi, Ect. What is the best time of year to be able to accomplish this goal? Also what time of the year do the cobia make their big run through Louisiana and how far offshore does that run typically take place?

Well Last friday me and my buddy known as Bug headed north for the annual trip to Missouri. We arrived at ny aunt's house at about 3am saturday morning. We took a nap and hit the woods at daylight we mostly slipped around the property to scout for our spots. I didnt find much sign on the side of the property I scouted but bug saw 7 and found tons of sign on the side he scouted. we headed out of the woods at about 930 and talked about what we found, and had a lunch. After talking we decided to make a mid day hunt. We got up the tree for about 11am I shot a button buck at 1110 and bug shot a 3 point at 1140. After pulling a bodybuilder and dragging the deer out up the mountain by hand instead of getting the 4 wheeler we cleaned them up and headed back in the woods.
On Saturday evening I didn't see anything but Bug shot 2 does and again we drug them out by hand b/c we didn't want to disturb the area.
The next morning I had a 5 min staring contest with a doe. I finally won the battle and killed her. I also killed another doe that evening. Bug saw several deer on day 2 but let them walk.
On Monday morning we were suppose to be trophy hunting, but my uncle told us to kill one for his freezer. So bug killed a doe and 30 seconds later the buck that was trailing her came out and he shot him a 7 point.
We ended the trip after the monday morning hunt b/c we were all tagged out. the final count was a 7 point a 3 point a button buck and 5 does. Bug got the best of me killing 5 to my 3. We had a great trip and could not have imagined
seeing/killing so many deer in such a short period of time.
Hopefully next year Undertaker or Randy will get to come with us You guys sure missed out on a great hunt this year.

I recently joined a club in Central Louisiana and I want to have a green patch to hunt this year. The problem is the spot I found the most deer sign and decided to claim as my spot is in the woods and loaded with palmedoes. I need to know what I can plant in the lanes I cut in the palmedoes in say september that will grow with minimum sunlight.
Thanks for any info.

Ok mabe I dont get it but what is so imoprtant about cut on contact. It seems that a-lot of people are hung up on this concept. I for one dont want a cut on contact broadhead on my bow I want something that will break bone. Personally I shoot The MUZZY MX3 in 100 gr. I mean with a arrow traveling at around 300fps what is the big deal with cut on contact the blades on a muzzy will be there so fast after contact will there even be a difference. Give me the bone busting power over cut on contact any day. Someone please tell me why cut on contact is so important to them.

Well me and Undertaker headed to our favorite wma for the opening week. Once we got there we found that all of our favorite spots were basically unhuntable. So we spent most of opening day scouting for some new spots. After not seeing crap we decided to go hog squealing Thursday evening. Under taker blew the squealer 1 time and about 3 min later I spotted a doe running strait towards us. When she got to 40 yds I drew my bow back she then stopped at 35 yds directly behind a tree. After about 30 seconds of holding it back she took off again undertaker stopped her with a ma and I released. I hit her but not all that great. We did recover the deer and I was no longer a bow hunting virgin.

Saturday morning we decided to deer hunt in the middle of all the squirrel hunters. Sitting there all morning thinking wow what a poor decision all the sudden under taker comes on the radio excited as hell saying he just shot a doe. This doe was browsing at 150 yds and a quick fawn bleat called her in to 30 yds and she stopped behind a tree leaving her neck exposed so he shot it. After a short bloody trail we recovered it. Now he too is now longer a bow hunting virgin.

The muzzy mx3 100 was the broad head of choice for us and performed great huge entrance and exit holes on both deer and awesome blood trails. I will post the pics as soon as undertaker develops them.

Well this morning I bagged my first bird. Me and Undertaker set out th get the big boy we have been seeing. As we were walking to the area they have been using frequently we herd a hen so we ducked off in the bushes. Shortly after we herd a fly down cackle and she landed 15 yards in front of us. That was awesome. After she walked off we continued on to the spot we wanted to set up in. This spot is a huge live oak and all under it is big thick brier patch we sat up at the base of the tree. After sitting for 45 min and not hearing a thing we started to get restless and was considering leaving to go try another spot. We decided to give it a few more min and it payed off. The turkey came up from our back left side and when he got to about 15 yards he drummed and I said to undertaker what the f#@k was that, his reply was I don't know. So I slowly turned around to find the bird about 15 yards away, and when I went to turn to get the shot he spotted me and ran and tried to fly but I smoked him as soon as he left the ground. He was only a Jake with a 3 inch beard and 1/4 inch spurs weighing in at 13 lbs. This is a hunt I will never forget bagging my first bird without even hearing a gobble. We will try for the big bird again next weekend.

A comment titled: YOU HUNTING WITH THAT THING in response to a report titled: Found : Free to good home

Stalker this guy is bad news. When hunting if you dont want the mosquitoes to bite you put on skeeter dope, but if you are trying to repel the piggies you bring "Chee Wee" aka Randy Norred. I have been in the woods many times with Chee Wee and he is a powerful repellent. I nick named him Chee Wee about 6 years ago when I met him b/c he is long and knobby like a Chee Wee.

A comment titled: Private Land in response to a report titled: Missouri Trip

My aunt lives up there and has about 100 acers that we can hunt. There are many deer in Missouri no matter where you go just watch the regs the northern 2/3 of the state are 4 on 1 side and the public lands are no does stay in the southern part of the state we had unlimited doe tags and we put our own buck management plan in place. I would deffinitely recommend going up there it is a beautiful place and we saw deer on most hunts. We missed the rut this year but the does are everywhere.

A comment titled: JOHN COMBS NOT RECOMMENDED in response to a report titled: ANOTHER NICE MACON BUCK

I would not recommend John to do your work if you want to get it back any time soon. I dropped a redfish off to him and he told me it would be 9 months, 2 1/2 years later my wife called him and he had not even started on it, and then finally after 3 years he called me to tell me it was ready I asked him if he was going to cut me some slack on the price for taking 2 1/4 years longer than he originally told me he said no. I will never do business with him ever again. I am not saying he doesn't do good work just saying you will not see it for about 3 years and that is CRAP.

A comment titled: YEP I AGREE FAMILY FIRST in response to a report titled: Hunting……….what does it mean to you?

I agree with you that family is always first thats why I will only hunt a grand total of 16 days this year. Its not that you dont camp with us its that every time you hunt with us if we dont walk out of the woods with you we dont see you and have to talk about the hunt over the phone. Hanging out for a coulpe of hours on a sat after the morning hunt shouldnt be that big of a deal. You are one of the lucky ones that gets to ho home every night to see your family so surely you have a couple of hours on a sat to just hang out and not be in such a rush. The only reason that we are we even bring it up is because we like you and like hanging out with you and especially since you moved 2 and 1/2 hours away we dont get the chance very often. So mabe you like to hunt and run but I wish you would just slow down and enjoy the friendship we have developed over the years. We sure going to miss you on the deer farm in Missouri.

A comment titled: You Want Restrictions in response to a report titled: 6 Point or better for LA

Lets hunt like the northern states. I am headed to hunt some family land in Missouri in december they only have 2 weeks of rifle season and 1 week of muzzleloader no rifels in muzzle loader season 45-70. They have a 4 point on 1 side management program and only 1 buck per person. Wow how whould you like to hunt there if you get stuck working one of those weekends and dont bow hunt you just missed a third of your season. So I like our hunting regs why dont everyone just hunt have fun doing it and not worry about anyone else. Hunting for me is just as much about spending time with family and friends as it is about killing something.

A comment titled: Is That It in response to a report titled: Cut On Contact Broadheads

So thats it no real reason to shoot them. Have you ever felt the point on a muzzy i dont thing it is pushing through anything the trocar tips are very sharp. I were shooting a lower pound bow I would shoot a expandable that the blades open after the first set of ribs. something like a hypershock with much sharper blades. Oh Yea i dont plan on hitting heavy bone but we all make bad shots I want something that will bust threw when i do make a bad shot.
Thanks for the comments if anyone else has anything to throw in here please do.

I for one forked out the money and bought the superblack eagle II. It is the best gun on the market hands down it shoots all sizes of shells. I have made shots with this gun in front of friends that they thought were WAY TOO FAR. So either buy a cheeper gun and get good performance or shell it out and get the best gun you will ever own.
