Any experiances with Dove hunt outfitters.
I am looking into a old college buddys trip for 6-8 guys to go on.
Not really concerned about north or south texas travel. Any Alabama, oklahoma great places. I am thinking texas bc of white winged and mourning doves present.
Also would like options in LA where i can take my 9 year old on his first hunt. Need lots of action to hopefully hit a few.
Thanks

Anyone out there reload 20 gauge. \r\nLooking for maybe 9 shot in very low recoil.\r\nMy little Buddy is getting gun shy with his gun due to recoil.\r\n 8 year old 90 pounds. 870 express pump with the best packmayer recoil pad Jim\'s will custom install. \r\nI had some AA low recoil loads that were ok. 950 fps .\r\nNot bad for doves. Just want to build some confidence shooting some cans/ skeet.
Anyone know what the code is for logging flags. i am pretty sure we are about to get cut. The timber company has been walking around out there for a few weeks. no equipment yet but now they have flagged pink on the rt side of a club road in groups. These are short pink ones: 2 flags, then 3 flags, then 4 flags as you keep going down the road . there is one long pink flag... The other side of the road has a few orange flags every so often. I am just curious. I would like to avoid doing a bunch of pre season work in areas they may go harvest...This is in St. landry Parish. Just curious. .
Thanks so much

Guys,
I have started to get massive headaches and I believe it to be coming from my Thermocell.
If I use my Thermocell I get headaches and never ever get them any other time.
I like to bow hunt out of a climber therefore the thermocell is typically places on my lower platform of the stand.. Yes I notice the smoke that does come up around me if there is no wind. I always understood that the smoke was harmless.. I ended my hunt 6:30 pm yesterday now 13 hours later I am still not feeling Right... Other than going back to bug spray. Any recommendations ..or has anyone else noticed this. thanks

I am new to the 25-06 family for hunting whitetail in Louisiana. I have been a 30 caliber guy for a long time. However I am making a move to 25-06. I do not have access to reload. I will be using factory ammo. Yes I know i need to shoot various types to find what the gun likes the most.
I need to start somewhere. i am thinking super performance SST and GameKings loaded in Federal Premium.
Please share success and hard hitting rounds as well as wounded animal, nightmare tracking jobs.
I need to start somewhere.
thanks

anyone else have a terrible time with food plots this year..i planted 4 days before a hard rain and 2 days before a light rain. shaded areas came up good.. 2nd week in October what came up was about 6 inches high.. Now it looks like the desert. Very little rain but has gotten some in the Palmetto area. I used way more seed than necessary to increase germination rates..It never got high or thick enough to choke out.... By now has all the seed rotted that did not come up..
Time to start over??? I have been afraid to fertalize since it never really established itself. Year after year my plots are great in this same spot.. Not this year.

I wanted to provide some personal experiance with the Remington Managed Recoil Rounds for .308.
I have a Remington Model seven in youth stock I sometimes use when hunting out of a climber stand. The guns size is great, it's small, compact, still a 30 caliber and has good range if I need it.
My daughter took her first deer last year with a snappy(Remington Model 700 short action) little borrowed .243 at 7 years old and can't wait for this years youth weekend. With good shot placement the deer still ran a good ways so I started the hunt for a 7mm-08 or .260 alternative.
I then also began to study ballistics for many small recoil rounds.
.243 does not have Manager Recoil
7mm.08, .260, .308 Do come in Manager Recoil. I would love to justify getting a new rifle in any of the listed calibers which are all fine light loads for deer hunting. Since, I have a .308 I decided to try out the ' Managed recoil' for it to maybe save me 900 or so bucks and to test.
I took it to the range this weekend and was well impressed. I first checked the scope with the normal Federal Premium 165 BTSP I normally use. I verified 0 with a nice group then wanted to test the manager recoil. '0' at 100 yards was right at 3 inches high of the previous group. This is fantastic in my opinion bc there is a variable of 125 grain bullets on Managed recoil(core lock). I will not let my daughter shoot over 100 yards but, I am impressed enough where I am very confident shooting it out 250 yards. I also Nailed together 2 pieces of 3/4 plywood with a 3rd piece behind it about a foot.. The shot entry punched through everything no problem with the 3rd piece having a slightly wided diamater hole than the original pieces.. This tells me Velocity is still great, bullet penetration is Great. I would have all the confidence in the world using the round as a primary round for hunting.
The recoil was reduced about 50 percent as advertised and was a noticable noise reduction also. I love the big hole that a .30 caliber punches, 125 grain is still plenty, groups well in my rifle, ballistics are still good down range, no need to adjust my scope for heavier rounds, reduction of Recoil and noise. I am impressed. This may serve as an alternative to buying a new $900 gun for your youth. I also think it can answer issues that shorter action, shorter barrel, lighter, and synthetic guns sometimes challenge shooters.
Happy Hunting,

My father-in-law and I lost our Duck blind due to a property sale after leasing it 8 years. Would love to find something new in the Hwy 71 south area.(We have another deer lease in the area) Responsible weekend hunters ages 36 and 58.
Open to book some guided hunts in the same area. Capable of booking most all weekends.

I have a Honda 2000 400 foreman and the Shocks are shot on them and need to be replaced.
I normally dont do much mechanic work but this looks easy. Any recomendations on good sites to order them from. I want to go ahead and order the parts so when I get time I can work on it. Also I have read where some people say the 450 shocks will work just fine also and will raise it up some since the shock is a little longer. That would be good since the older Foremans all need some lift. I have a 2 in lift on it now. Can someone confirm the 450 will work on front and rear or other good options when doing this yourself..
Thanks so very much,

It was a long day working then we ran into Captain Chris Callaway at the Venice Marina. We went out on a scouting trip just for the fun of it. 1 hour later we had a 5 man nice limit of Red Fish. We saw no oil. Just the corks getting dragged down. Thanks Captain Chris we had a BLAST.
Also thanks to Verizon for providing free internet services for anyone that wanted to use it.

Been looking at the Judge but not sure if I want the bigger heavier 3in model and have cheap easy access ammo or the smaller Public Defender model with the Hard to find 2 1/2 rounds.
Mostly a snake gun, Armidillo killer, side weapon until bow season opens. Hope to try on some doves while laying under a MOJO Dove...HA
Mostly gonna use shot shells.
Thanks,

With the past few years of very wet falls and winters my food plots have taken on a ft of water for a few days then hold a few inches for a while.. My plots have been coming up beautiful until the water comes in. i am looking for some more water resilient food plot plants to try. Come late november those pretty plots start holding water.
I use a combination of Oats, turnips, winter wheat, mustards, and clover now..
Anyone find anything that if it gets some growth on it before the water comes in will hold up for the season.
thanks

has anyone done any touch up work on Blueing on a barrel.
I have a small spot about the size of a pinkey print and at the end of the barrel where the blueing has come off. There is no rust the surfaces are clean. I have seen the marker and seen some stuff at academy just never used it before. I do know that cold blueing offers no protection just cosmetic. Has anyone done any touch up on the barrel before. Its on a rifle not a shotgun. Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks so much,

What are you seeing as the best scope for the dollar.
low end Leupolds are not what they used to be and looking through them are about the same as lowest end NIKON.
How about the Nikon 4200 or Monarch?
Is Burris any decent?
Looking to put on a 30-06. Its for a Back up weapon or for pipeline stands.

I have a swisher I use a few times per year. It works pretty good.
Mine is considered a trail mower. 2 sets of blades v 1 blade on the rough cut one.
It cuts as nice as a lawn tractor. I personally would rather the rough cut one to use more in the woods. Since I also have a lawn tractor for the camp yard.
I traded a gun and some cash for it on a far trade
Let me know what you find out. I have 4 feeders to fill for kids/ doe stands. I have some barrels and would prefer soybeans Bc we do have BEARs. Southnboy@gmail.com
In the past I have used a combination of 2.4D with Killz All in a big sprayer. Appox 4 oz of herbicide per gallon. Also add in a cup of dawn dish detergent per 10 gallons. It suds up a lot so try to pour the water I'm an don't use the pressure of a hose pipe.
Good luck
Thanks guys glad to know I am not alone.. Last year I had it on and had a nest of wasp about 5 ft above me: all fell out the nest and I killed the one by one with a pocket knife or my boot. That was the first sign somethign may be stronger than I thought. The headaches were killing me: gonna have to distance myself a whole lot more..
Wearing no sent deet last sunday I took my first doe of the year with a Bow...
Do you know for sure which years are interchangable or if the 450 will actually fit on the 400. Year 2000 Thanks
coot,
i got my dog off of Ace's breeding specifically the Mentioned Diablo. great guy. i live in BR and have had steve riggins do my title and finished work for UKC Hunt test. Steve has been GREAT and keeps me posted weekly on progress.
All good recomendations:
I am using Mark Smith now. Mine had some bad habits he has worked out and she is doing Great with him. He is in Laplace and I can go see my dog often on my way home from work.(I commute from BR to NOLA, a few days a week). He spends alot of time with each dog.If your going to use him call now bc later this summer he is taking the dogs to South Dakota where its cooler. Mark concentrates on AKC Field Trial Dog Training and is considered top 5 in the country at it. However he can train for your specific needs as well. Mark Smith southlakekennels.com 504 858 5400.
Chuck Mcall is extremely accomplished with Hunt Test Certifications. Seriously doubt anyone else has passed more dogs than he and his step son Jason Moore. All great Guys. You can learn a little more about Chuck and Jason at the ARHRC website.
Ace Berry in Kiln, MS 228 216 7474 is good also. Nothing too fancy. shoot the duck, go get the duck. Obediance, marks, and Casting. If your not going to run Hunt test and just looking for a good hunting dog and buddy to ride well in the truck with ya. Ace may be a good match also. In some programs. Other programs are more advanced for British Trials. His breeding program is very good also. Long term Health guarantees for Health. Many dogs are imported from top lines in Ireland.I bought mine from Ace for Bloodline and health breeding. He has a started program for pups. She was only 5 months old opening weekend and picked up 168 birds last season for me. http://sites.google.com/site/acesbritishgundogs/home-page

It was a really good time. Check out the new website. Lots of good pics, I hope my videos came out OK to use on the site.
we got pretty close from the rear and it was fine..My daughter and I watched most from the rock bank which was Fine... The bathrooms on site will be nice. I took one of the 4 wheelers in one time for my daughter to go.. We really had a nice time. They even let her pull the names for the door prizes at the end..
I can speak from being there last year. This Trial is first Class amongst tons of Guys that love to wing shoot and some fine Amature Trainers, as well as some pro trainers putting this event on. Antlers and Wings was Awesome. Watching Dogs work in one direction and Exotic Game over the other shoulder was really nice. I took a 6 year old girl with me last year and she even had a good time.
The dogs will be working over live fire and real birdsma.Marking several shot birds and going after the one they are told to go after by the judge. Great control, steadiness, and casting will be seen. Upland simulation was in tall grass last year the Water blinds were in a clean Pond where observation was nice and close in a few locations.
Heck, I joined the Club last year before I even had a Dog. We got one very shortly after.
Hunt Test are Great dont get me wrong. I really like them also. This is just different. This is dog and handler against every other dog and handler. I can speak to what i observed last year if you have intrest or questions.

I love the show and the DVR is set to record.
. ' We got a Tree Shakah, I bet thats Big Head'
pattern what you have. If you like it. Shoot with confidence.. if not change chokes.. Also different types of buckshot pattern better. My Benelli M2 likes #1 buckshot. where my 870 holds a great pattern on 00 buck on with a IC choke.. give yourself a reason to go buy a few loads and bring the choke tubes and a sunday paper to shoot at... Have fun no matter what
Bull which Dame and stud were used for yours... Is yours the yellow lab in your pics.
Yep its Ace Berry's kennel.
We emailed many exchanges that helped me narrow down my pup choices. We went to 3 kennels and chose Ace's kennel. Diablo was most probably the dog you hunted with in Mississippi,if he was fox red..He is my pup's Daddy. Diablo is his primary guide dog. The facility was great and Ace takes alot of pride in matching the right dog to the family, guide , or recreational hunter. He was very patient with my wife, 7 year old, and 4 year old kids.My puppy is 12 weeks old and getting 20 yard retrieves and getting shot over already..She is staying with Ace getting in more work in obediance and getting ready for this duck season.. We cannot wait to go visit and play with little Annie in a few weeks.

Well I got my way getting the pup and sending off for training.
Her name is 'Ace's Annie May'. the kids recently saw the movie Annie with red hair and had to have her name Annie... So it is. The pup is a much darker red in person than the pic shows.
Ace : come from the Ace Retrievers Kennel and Training facility
Annie: the kids loved the name
May : I liked since both sides of the Family include May in different ways.
As bad as Katrina..People are getting in line just because they can..Its amazing.. Sure is several boats watching while a couple do the work.
I know there are lots of people working hard on this thing but it seems like alot of HUSH money is being tossed around to me..
I am just glad things are looking up. Today there was much discussion on a bacteria that is growing crazy that is consuming the oil and then plankton is expected to take on the bacteria...MOTHER NATURE...Thats a good Lady..
I considered chunking it but the ac works great just the heat is acting up. It blows warm air for a while then it just blows air.
go 300wsm. better variety and ballistics.
It will give you more muzzle jump than probably used to form a 30-06 or 270. WSM's typically are lighter(shorter action) and shorter barrels in most cases. Get a 50 mm scope if you want a chance to see the dead deer in your scope after the shot. Them suckers jump!!
Thank you. I ave not been able to load base amp or google earth on windows 7 for some reason
