Anyone know the agency that controls/determines the water level of Henderson Lake?
I just wanted to thank Louisiana Sportsman for the great job of covering this tournament, the Bassmaster Open out of Berwick. Not as much coverage as The Classic, but still great.
Anyone know if you can run Postillion Bayou ( in the Spillway ) from the Intercoastal or is it silted up at the mouth of Postillion?
The water level on the Pelba gauge at Henderson is 6.5 feet. Can I launch between I-10 or do I need to launch on the west side?
Heard a rumor their is going to be another draw down on Henderson. True or false.
Made a trip to Bayou Sorrel yesterday. Biting fish were hard to find. A tug pushing a barge went down the canal between the pumping station and the nine mile canal (or whatever the name is) paralleling the pipeline, turning the water to a gray mixture. Went down the canal half hour later, dying bait fish along with a few small game fish were on the surface. I would avoid the area if possible.
Looking to get a 3 bank on-board battery charger. What brand do you have and what brand would you NOT recommend?
Looking to get my boat wrapped. Anyone in Louisiana does this?
Does anyone have some phone numbers for buying shrimp off the docks at Morgan City or anywhere along the coast?
Henderson lake has dropped 1.5 feet in the past 4 days. The lake was dropping an inch a day. Anyone know why they are dropping the level so fast? At this rate the launch under the interstate will be basically unusable by the weekend.
Looking to buy fresh shrimp from a boat/shrimper or wholesale merchant below I-10. Looking to purchase 100 plus pounds of shrimp.
Any one having problems getting current river gauges from the weather site? I put my cursor on weather, nothing drops down to select.
Topic - Big Alabama. Is there a real time water level gauge on this web site, any web site? If not, what Atchafalaya River gauge would you use to determine rising water/flooding? When the water rises in Big Alabama, where does it enter in? Bayou Deglaze?
There is an ad on this site, Al Franken wanting you to sign a petition. Just wondered if anyone actually would sign any petition siding with Al Franken? If so, what were you thinking?
Does anyone know if any of the boat launches on False River are back open? Have made a few phone calls to public officials, no one knows nothing about anything. Can't find the phone number to the LA express on the south end. Got to wet a line.
Anyone know of any fish killed in the Atchafalaya Spillway and on the Verret side?
Does anyone know of any maps of the Red River with the names of ponds, etc, like Mcdade, Bobo, Whitehouse, Wagon Wheel, Little Monkey, Dozier slough, Beehive Point, etc. I have a Corp map of the river, but it has no names on most areas. Looking for this info mostly on Pools 3, 4, and 5.
Anyone been to Tickfaw, Natalbany River lately. Looking to bassfish but anything that bites will do.
Been catching 10 to 20 throwbacks for 1 keeper. Spinnerbaits the last couple of weeks. Wind determines were you can or cannot fish. Fish seem to move day to day. Water a little high, stained to muddy. Water color hasn't made much of a difference. You have to move alot to locate some that want to bite.
I want to put in at Bayou Benoit landing. I will be coming from Lafayette. How do I get there? Also, Mama's Pond, is it north or south of the landing? It has been awhile since I have been there. Can you still get into it with the low water?
The canal in the center of the circle and branches off of it are posted. The canal inside the circle on the right is open to the public.
3 lb to 4 lb plus
I've been told the green lunker lure will catch you some nice cats at Tony's on Plank Road. Dead ends should produce better than canals, lakes with moving water.
This time of year, warm sunshine, rocks near water, equal, SNAKES. All varieties.
Start on points of deadend canals and work your way to the back end. Try to find stained, clearer water.
Look for wood (with grass a plus) in clearer still water. Water rising. Think Bass 101.
I have a camp across from the basin. Every year the fishing is less productive than the previous (since the 14' size removal). I now mostly fish the marsh. It's what the spillway used to be.
There are 4 pits (that connect) north of the interstate that are easily accessible from the levee. During low water conditions you can have them all to yourself.
You love a challenge, right. You got one. Jig, black, fish slow. If you think you are fishing too slow,,,,slow down even more. Wood next to deeper water. The bite will feel like a wet sock biting. Keep a nice shore fire burning.
If you are talking about bar pits between the levee and the river, they are all posted as far as I know. It has been that way for 30 plus years.
Judging from the Pelba gauge at Henderson, the lock is closed. The lake fell 3 feet in 5 days. That's a lot of water flowing under the Butte LaRose bridge. Had to be dangerous.
Correct me if i'm wrong. A possession limit is two days creel. So for TB, that would be 16 fish total, per person. Doesn't matter if you fish for 2 days or a week. Still, 2 day creel.
Bayou Black, Wax Lake, Old River or False River. With the draw down on False River, the fish should be concentrated to a smaller area. Are you MAN enough for the challenge, lol.
Was wondering if anyone has ever eaten a Manatee? Wondering if it would be easy to clean? Do they eat vegetation or do they feed on live bait, etc.
Ice them down. If you are catching smallmouth, you are a long way from Louisiana.
There have been reports coming from Grand Lake, Catfish/Cowan and Cross Bayou.
Water WAS dropping over the weekend. A slight rise starting today. Some are/were catching, many not so well. Looking at your log book and water levels should give you a good clue. No log book, time to start one.
Nice fish. What body of water?
Safe to eat. Probably yes. The big difference is taste. Catfish from the Mississippi and Amite River are day and night. The meat is gray and white. The farther north up the Mississippi, the fish IS better tasting than below Baton Rouge.
Same here. Used to look at daily. Now about every other month, if I remember it still exists.
