Anyone hunt Acadiana Conservation Corridor WMA?
I here it's pretty much impossible to get to. You arn't allowed to park on side of the highway, and even if you are dropped off you can get ticketed. And then I here that it's dangerous to get there by boat because of logs and current.
I really think they should make a gravel road or something with a check station so people could actually hunt it. Even if you do go by boat it looks pretty much impossible to hunt the north part of it.
I'm just wondering because I go to college up north and every time I head back home for break I see deer along it. And today on my way home I saw a pig that was easily 300lbs. on the edge of the woods.
Does anyone know if there is hogs on the Kisatchie unit near Minden? I've hunted there and seen a good bit of deer but I was wondering if there is hogs. I maybe go squirrel hunt there next weekend. I don't think this is legal but jus checking, could I bring slugs for hogs (if there even is any) or would I have to shoot one with loads that would be used for squirrels? I 've seen people hunt hogs in the squirrel season on WMAs with .17 hmrs and .22mags and they use bullets that would blow up a squirrel and are obviously not for squirrel hunting, so I was just checking..thanks
If this is too off topic than I apologize and feel free to yank it.
There's a new hunting game being developed, and I am lucky enough to be a tester. All you have to do is give input on what you would like to be in the game and be active and eventually you can get selected to.
But that's not my purpose for this post and I don't want to sound like I'm advertising for it because I'm not. I just would like to see a lot more Louisiana hunters giving input for the development in the game so that they will hopefully make a Louisiana based area to hunt in the game. I've been trying to push Louisiana swamps and other areas to be added to the game but if I can get the help of other LA hunters, that are interested in playing hunting games ,then maybe it can be successful. LA all to often gets left out in hunting games (when we have some of the best and most diverse hunting!), so I'm hoping we can make an influence on this game!
You can check it out here
Also if you do join, In the location suggestion section you will see my post on South Louisiana that is where you can support my post and provide more pictures of the great hunting areas we have in this great state!
Well I'm up in North La in Shreveport for school and I'm trying to see if there's any good places I could go with my Ultra light and catch some perch or sacalait or anything good to eat haha.. So if you know any good spots to fish from the bank in the shreveport-ish area then please share.. By the way I'm not looking to fish right now, just trying to get that figured out for after hunting season is closed and it starts to heat up a little. Thanks!
Well I've been told that on a WMA you can hunt pigs with whatever weapon is allowed for the inseason animal at the time. For example the other day while bowhunting on a WMA people where hunting hogs with .22 mags and .17 HMR's since those guns are legal gun to squirrel hunt with...So if you hunt a WMA with a Turkey Season and hogs, can you hog hunt with a bow during the turkey season..since a bow is legal to hunt turkey's with? Or is the hog hunting thing not allowed during the turkey season? I tried finding the answer to this on LDWF and could not come across it..Thanks
Never hunted there before and plan on possibly going tommorrow, but does anyone know if the bridge is still closed? Last info I can find is from nov. and says it's closed but it seems like it would be open now. If it is closed can you still access some parts by vehicle? Thanks im advanced.
Shot a nice 5pt. yesterday afternoon and I'd like to do a Euro mount. What's the best way to do it? I DO NOT want to boil and bleach it b/c all that does is damage it. I would like to do it quickly rather then having to wait on ants, but if that's the best way for me to do it w/o boiling then I'll do it. I also would maybe be interested in paying a Taxidermist to do it for me if the price isn't too bad, b/c it snot a trophy deer or anything I just thing it'd look nice.
So any of you taxidermist can give me tips or email me a price.. I'll try to get a pic up of him in a little bit, nothing spectacular but just a beautiful deer as they all are!
A year or two ago we stopped at the feed store and picked up some rice bran and corn. As we where buying the corn, I could here some guy going on to someone else about how we are stupid for buying corn. As we are loading up the feed he comes to us and told us that corn kills deer. His reasoning was that the corn had no nutritional value, just energy value and the deer eat to much get bloated and their stomach basically explodes. He claims that he raised a deer and fed it corn and this happened.
Anyone else hear or believe this?
I personally agree that corn does kill deer...when they come to eat it and get SMACKED!..haha
Is it any good? I never here anything about it and saw that its a a little closer to me than going to Bodcau or Loggy Bayou so it'd be easier for me to hunt there before class haha..Just curious I read up on it a little, but just looking for some further info..Thanks
Good luck to ya'll this season..
I'm a little late on this should have done it much earlier but, anyone got any suggestions of good wma/state/public land that I could bow hunt deer within 30 min-1hr or so from Shreveport. I know there's a couple places around here I just am clueless where they are..I guess I could also just look them up. But anyway, I'm up here for school, I was thinking I'd just hold off on hunting until breaks when I get to go home, but I'm use to hunting almost every weekend ,and I LOVE it that way.So I need a place to go up here..ha
Should have stayed in the south where I could hunt anytime I wanted..ha..
God bless, and hope ya'll knock'em down this season
