Anybody know the coordinates to the Blue Camp out in the water in Four Bayous area?
I have gone on Google Earth and identified several spots that I wanted to navigate to. I plugged the GPS coordinates from Google Earth in to my Garman. When I was on the water and attempted to navigate to those coordinates using the Garman, I was nowhere close. What am I doing wrong? An example is that I marked the opening for the Southeastern Louisiana Canal in to Barataria Bay. Google Earth has it at 29.1556.31 N and 90.0620.30 W. That is what I put in to my Garman. When I attempted to navigate to those coordiantes on the water, I was way off by more than a mile. Can you help me out?
An accident like this was bound to happen eventually although this one seemed to be wrought with an extra dose of carelessness. What boggles my my is the ineffective response from BP and the Government. Hey Obama...how about acting like FDR and putting some of the out of work people down here. There are a 1000 things that could be tried to prevent oil from entering the marsh but all we can come up with is some yellow floaties ? Seriously? 30 days it took to finally enter Barataria Bay..everyone just watched it come..how can anyone say that BP and the Government response was anything other than pitiful. Now we get to live with it for a generation. I am all for offshore drilling but there has to be a plan.
My family is heading to Grand Isle this weekend from Tennessee. I would like to know the GPS coordinates for Independence Island and Queen Bess, and any other hot spos you know of in Barataria bay. Thanks so much
