Email me at dconstant@htdiocese.org if you have any questions. Also, if you are involved with a company that would like to be involved we need all the help we can get! We would also like to invite all local bass club members around the state to come out and share pointers about tournament fishing to help our youth get started!

P.S. no off limits on the flyer means no fishing in gated canals or private marsh areas!

I posted our bass tourney date in events but just wanted to get other info out to all the fishermen who want to support our local youth and fish the tournament.
This is our 2nd annual high school fishing tournament. Everyone is invited to fish the tournament. I have had many calls about helping start up high schools programs in the area, so if you know of any kids at our local high schools who want to get started please pass the word! Or better yet...fish this tourney with them!
We have to allow 3 max fisherman per boat due to high school rules that states a captain over 21years of age must be on board at all times.
In state and world events the capt is not allowed to fish just drive and provide coaching. Captains will be allowed to fish our tourney. Also, it may provide a little fun for a family to compete together.
Registration cost is $80. You can register the morning of the event. Please just send me an email dconstant@htdiocese.org if you are planning on fishing so I can get the numbers correct. Payout is based on number of fisherman. What is left over will help support our effort to send as many high school kids to the state and world finals!
If any club fisherman out there have any suggestions on how we can promote or make our event more appealing to all...please feel free to comment!
Frank Robichaux a young student athlete at EDW Catholic and member of our Fishing Team took down this nice 9 pt buck this past Friday in the Napoleonville area! Frank is a great kid and is pretty steady with his bow! Love to see our young students spending time in the outdoors!
122 inches/140lbs
This past Sunday I experienced something on the water that was truly unbelievable! As I watched a fellow thump big speck after big speck and sling them into his kayak....I was truly taken back as he kept waving me closer as I was doing my best to drift in my bay boat not to get into his area. I watched him catch at least 10 specks over three pounds as he was close to his limit. Well, I was not getting it done with my swim baits and this fellow actually sent his buddy who was in another kayak to paddle over to me and give me the same bait he was using! What a blessing I was thinking to myself and how awesome a guy he is to be that kind! Not only did he send me a bait but he tossed a bouy marker to make sure I knew where the fish were before he paddled away! He asked his buddy to pick up the bouy when we were done fishing! I do not want to give away this guys spot or area he was fishing out of respect for (Mike) only got his first name. Merry Christmas where ever you are out there and thank you again for the kindness! Hope I can share the same to another fisherman someday soon....
Did anyone hear the guy who has been trying to run people out of the Texaco Slip over the last few years supposedly now has permission from the corps of engineers to put a gate and will charge people entrance to the slip!!!?
Rumor? Help! I can't tell you how much I love to fish that area and it would be such a shame to those who do fish the area. I enjoy talking to Mr. Roland at the montegut marina as he is always very helpful and such a character.
My wife and I ran out to Racoon Point Saturday afternoon as we found the trout at the first stop! Birds...shrimp...bait everywhere! Fish were pounding topwater for me but my wife kept them coming in study with swimbaits! Caught a few real nice specks but mostly 15-17's. Caught at enstar on way back in also but water quality wasn't as good. Kept 43 good specks as we had many right at 12 that we let go...
As many times as I have been to the marina I had never took time to eat at Jug's. The ladies working the restaurant were simply amazing! I have never felt so welcomed to any other restaurant in my life! They were super nice and my wife commented that it felt like they were seating us at their home dinner table. The crab patty platter is a must! Stop by on your way out next time and be blessed by their goodness.
Thank you to all who came out to the high school fishing seminar! Thanks also to everyone who fished our first ever high school tourney!
Congrats to first ever EDW Bassmasters Classic Champions Alec Naquin and Andrew Hebert with 12 lbs 2 ounces. Second place was Sam Cartozzo and Kolt Clement with 9 lbs 6 ounces and 3rd place was grant Naquin and Trey Dobson with 9.2 lbs!

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Been very blessed this week as my wife and I have made a couple of awesome speckled trout trips! My wife had the speck of the day with a 4lb speck this Monday and missed one out in Vermillion Bay on Saturday afternoon that she didn't want to hear but might have gone over 5! My wife can fish y'all!
Both limits came on swim baits in glow and charteuse tails retrieved slow on the bottom.
If you head to V bay just out from the launch you can't miss all the boats. Fish are everywhere! God Bless!
Lauched out of dockside and headed to the train trestles with some good friends. Most all the fish were caught on the Matrix Shads from dockside. First time really using the baits on the lake and must say outfished some other favorite baits of mine. All fish came from just bouncing the bait slowly off the bottom.
Specks were on and off throughout the day and the flounder are just stacked up and closer to the northshore of the bridge.
Bigger fish came on the matrix shad but we did watch everyone up and down the bridge catch fish all day on live shrimp under a sliding cork.
Everyone seemed to be tying up to the bridge and had succes throwing out away from the bride at an angle.
Good Luck and God Bless!
Great day on the water in weeks bay! All specks caught on glow swim baits and matrix shad(dockside) on all types of retrieves. Fish were pretty much all over the bay. Made it back for LSU kickoff to see a great game!
Caught pretty much at every stop the last two Sundays! Made a trip with my good friend Mr. Jack Hains and we thumped them two Sundays ago in the Dularge area and this past Sunday my wife and I headed out to Vermillion Bay and it was ON!
Most fish were caught on glow swimbaits slow on the bottom. Can't wait to get back out on the water!!!
Special Request to all anglers,
I don't have any reports but will post soon as we get out on the water. I am hoping to get some help from ya'll if you think you can help in any way. Growing up in South Louisiana I was blessed to have a dad who took me fishing every chance he could. It began a passion to fish that consumes alot of my life. When I began talking about beginning a high school fishing team where I coach/teach I talked to so many kids who seemed to have that same passion. The kids are so excited to begin. We are looking to gain sponsorships for our team. I want to get them all a really nice fishing team jersey/hat with sponsor logos. La Sportsman is our first logo sponsor and we are so pumped to have their support.
Special thanks to the Louisiana Sportsman and Alicia Lafont for printing our story in the October! We are about to begin our tournament series and hope to gain more sponsors. If you have any experience in the area of sponsorship or would like to be a logo sponsor I would love to hear from you!

Thank you to everyone who attended and made the EDW rodeo a success!!! Steve Pitre did an awesome job putting on his first rodeo!!
Special Thanks to Sand Dollar Marina for working to make it a special day!!! Special Special Thanks to my wife Kaye Constant with helping to promote the event!
Looking forward to next year as plans are already being made to make it bigger and better!! Offshore divisions added for next year!! A band is also in the works!!
God Bless you all!!
Dad and I launched out of Jug's yesterday (July 19th) morning at daylight and ran through a small chop in the gulf to find some nice specks! Was not sure the bite would be on with the small range of tide but we were blessed to find them hammering topwater and swim baits all morning long! Most all water we ran through looked great!
Had a great time fishing with my dad as he has taught me most of all I know about fishing! Blessed to be able to put him on some good fish on his days off from working offshore.
Truly is sad for the future of fishing for our kids! I'm putting together some tournaments both fresh and salt but have so many problems with private canals/private marsh!
Pete,
Hope to have a hundred more signatures today though meeting with my fishing team!
Great work!

Not once but twice someone stole my license plate from my trailer this summer! So ridiculous as you all know the time it takes at the dmv! I'm guessing these idiots are using them to clip on their original plates to cross the toll? Anyone have any more info on this issue? I've looked on the dmv website and can only find personalized plate info?
Wow! That looked crazy! For something to throw that much wake I'm thinking a couple sharks maybe!? Great video!
From the entire EDW fishing team we want Dudley to know he is in our prayers! He took a good bit of time at the La sportsman's expo to talk to me and the team members. Also, without us even asking took down our information and said he wanted to help out by sending some baits to the school!
Just a nice genuine great fisherman!
God Bless you sir!
Thank you again!

Love to fish that area...From what I have found in the area it all depends on the salinity level and of course where the bait is at the time.
I found that a few places around the area had fish later than usual due to the mild winter..... Then we had lots of rain that poured more freshwater into the area. You will have South winds starting Friday so that may help!

Tomorrow is looking like it will turn out to be a great day to be down at our bayou black tournament! Good reports from yesterday out of the area!
God Bless you all who have been such a big help in making it happen!
No off limit areas on flyer means anglers are prohibited from fishing gated canals or posted marsh area. Had a few questions about that and wanted to clear up. Thanks!
I'm planning on getting one together pretty soon down at jugs! Our high school team is having an open bass tourney this Saturday and our next tourney will be a saltwater tourney! I will post as soon as I can get it together! It will be an open tourney for all ages. Can't promise a big payout just yet...
Still working on sponsorships and such through our team.
Anyone can fish our tournament! Anglers of all ages are invited! We have teams of local club anglers, teams of high school members and their captains, teams of local club anglers and a youngster....Even if you are just an angler and want to fish without a partner.
We are just trying to raise awareness of the growing trend in high school fishing and getting our kids connected with fishing competitively in the state. Money collected after the payout will be used to get our kids to the state and world championships where thousands of dollars in scholarships can be won!
We are having onsite registration at 4:30am
If you email me at dconstant@htdiocese.org
And verify you will be fishing our tournament I will give out boat numbers based on entry.
Thank you!
God Bless,
Coach David Constant
Our tournament is sanctioned by Skeeter/Yamaha!
If you know of any high school kids in the area who want to get their high school teams started...this would be a great beginning! I will do all I can to help get them going!
Didn't want to start a war here.....I was just curious to learn why or when this was going to happen. The area just meant a lot since my Pa Pa used to work at this sight when I was a young boy for Texaco. Been fishing there for years.
Any validity to the fact that if an oil company such as I'm guessing Texaco dredged the canal back then that the state received revenue from the minerals so you can't gate the canal?
Do you know the reasoning behind closing it off? I understand they hunt the land behind the slip but just curious...
I wanted to let everyone know also Sunday morning we are having an open tourney for the students in the area at Bayou Black.. We will also let the captains of each student team whom should be 21 and over compete against each other also during the tourney.
Registration fee is $25 dollars per person. Captain plus two student anglers is max. Please see TBF website for all rules.
Please comment if you plan on fishing with a student or will attend the Seminar. We will have a registration table set up at the Seminar. Thanks and Lord Bless!
The Bass Federation allows 8th-12th graders to fish all tournaments. We will be discussing upcoming tournaments after the seminar and how to get teams started. Please come out and bring a young person who loves to fish. To all local bass club members who may come out and attend...feel free to leave after the winner is announced. The second half will be dedicated to helping other clubs get started. Please pass the word! Thank you all!
God Bless!
Lived in Shreveport for a few years and loved to go out there because always had solid fish. I mainly fished Carolina rigs and did pretty good. Had to fish them extremely slow....had many guys come by pumping spinner baits with no luck all the time I witnessed. Also, caught good fish on senko and trick worms. Send me email dave5lsu@yahoo.com and I can give you specifics.
If you know of any students who fish at these high schools please pass on the info! Thank you!
