Hey guys.......for fishermen who like fishing with Mirror Lures, if you did NOT see my post a few months ago, Tony at Puglia's bought a special order (60) of the HOT PINK Mirror Lure with the holographic sides, which works much better than the original one. When water conditions are 'stained' and not very clear, the hot pink mirror lure works great. The new holographic side hot pink Mirror Lure is number S52MRHP. This is the 'slow sinker'. The 'S' preceding the numbers indicate it is the holographic sides one. Puglia's has them for sale at the same price as other Mirror Lures. Please help him sell these as I begged him to make this special order. Call Puglia's at 504-837-0291. I'm sure most fishermen know that Puglia's is located on Veterans just before Bonnabel.
To all MirrorLure fishermen:
Anthony Puglia called me this morning to let me know that the long awaited new Hot Pink Mirrorlures with the Holographic sides arrived. Suggest you go pick up a few soon as he has a limited quantity. The number on these is S52MRHP and they are priced at $6.19 plus tax.
And, these now have nickel hooks, much stronger and never rust.

Readers, I posted an article on my website Monday evening titled 'USDA Announces $210 Million to Be Invested in Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership'.
The USDA Press Release indicates that 21 States applied for participation AND Louisiana is on the list. Louisiana is being granted $1.3 Million which must be matched 1:1. The grant would provide 187 ethanol blend pumps and 25 ethanol tanks at 11 proposed stations to sell E15, E20, E30 and E85. The fact that there are so many pumps at only 11 gas stations suggest to me that a large retailer like Racetrac or similar retailer may be behind this.
And, you think we had problems with E10? That's NOTHING compared to what will be experienced with blends higher than E10.
Read my commentary to the article and the actual article on my website's home page, and I also URGE you to read my website's page titled 'Ethanol Facts' to help you understand the MAJOR issues with ethanol gasoline blends HIGHER than E10:

I will keep readers abreast this MAJOR issue.

Wednesday, I will post a VERY informative article on the issue of âGlobal Warming or Climate Changeâ which ever you choose to call the issue a large number of âclimate alarmistsâ are pushing, including the President and the Pope!
The article if from the former founder of Greenpeace (yes, the activist organization) which with facts, DEBUNKS the entire issue of global warming! You will want to read this article.
Check for the article on Wednesday at

Readers, if you have not read the article titled 'Losing Ground: Southeast Louisiana is Disappearing, Quickly', I posted it on my website Friday (9/4/2015) night. I posted it on my 'Home Page' and also on the archive page titled 'Current News' where it will remain.
It is an excellent article on the destruction of our coast line in which over 2,000 square miles of coast were lost in the last 80 years. The article explains the reasons for this massive loss and plans to attempt to stop it. It's a little lengthy, but an EXCELLENT article.
Read it on my webiste:

Sure wish someone in Louisiana Sportsman would STOP the VERY ANNOYING 'ROOMS TO GO' ads that cover the Forum Page when you open it. The ad blocks the top half of the Forum page..........
PLEASE STOP this..........

If you have not yet had the opportunity to read the summary of the LUMCON's 2015 report on the Gulf of Mexico's 'Red Algae' or Dead Zone study, this is a 'MUST READ'. It is STAGGERING that the dead zone has actually grown by 1,000 square miles since last year. It is way PAST TIME that Congress DEMAND that the EPA pass regulations to STOP the corn belt farmers from allowing their fertilizer rich run off into the Mississippi River and destroying the Gulf of Mexico.
I posted an article on my webiste titled '2015 GULF âDEAD ZONEâ LARGER THAN CONNECTICUT, RHODE ISLAND COMBINED' today. Read it at:

Readers, the EPA has finally developed their PROPOSED new Renewal Fuel Standard for 2014 - 2016 for volumes of corn ethanol to be blended into gasoline. By law, they are required to post this proposal in the Federal Register where anyone can submit comments on their proposal. Read the article I posted today (June 25) titled 'EPA PROPOSED RENEWAL FUEL STANDARDS FOR 2014-2016' (scroll down the home page to find the article) to see their proposed volumes and my commentary on the article in the 'Today's Feature Article' section.
I URGE all readers to submit comments before the July 27, 2015 DEADLINE. See my website for the link to submit comments to the EPA on their website. I also provided my submittal for info. Submit your own comment, or feel free to copy and past part or all of my comments, but, use YOUR NAME. See the info at:

To all Fishermen who like to fish with Mirrorlure baits:
Many who use Mirrorlures are familiar with the 'hot pink' one that we use when water clarity is not perfect. This bait seems to 'glow' in the water and works better than most Mirrorlures in stained water. GOOD News....I spoke with Anthony Puglia of Puglia's Sporting Goods on Veterans today. He is willing to order a 'special run' of the 'Hot Pink' Mirorlures in the 'Halographic 3-D' sides if he has enough interest. Anyone who has used the new 'S' series halographic scaled side Mirrorlures know how well they work. Mirrorlure is willing to manufacture a special run of the pink ones which would be 'S52MRHP' but they require Anthony to buy a minimum of 60 on a special run.
If you would have an interest in the Hot Pink slow sinker with rattle Mirrorlure in the halographic 3-D sides, PLEASE call Anthony or his staff at his store (504-837-0291) and give him your name, phone number and the number of the 'S52MRHP' halographic side hot pink Mirrorlures you would buy. If he has enough interest to justify an order of 60, he will place the order.
I have fished almost EXCLUSIVELY in January and February to date with the Mirrorlure S52MREC (electric chicken) color when water clarity was very good.....the specks just could NOT resist this bait. Puglia's is the only store I've found that has these. Give them a try also.
Call Anthony if you would be interested in purchasing the hot pink Mirrorlure with the '3-D' halographic sides...

Readers, for your info, I know many people may be wondering why the prices of crude oil and gasoline have plummeted in the past 3 months or so. Today (1/5/2015) I began posting a series of articles on my website on this subject which I think will be very informative to readers. I will be posting a different article daily for this week and next week also.
The results of these MAJOR drops in crude and gas prices are already beginning to have SERIOUS impact to the U.S., State and Worldwide economies also, some good, but mostly BAD! Even the ethanol industry is being negatively impacted.

ALL READERS: Today I posted an article on my website that summarizes a proposed new EPA regulation which EXPANDS the Clean Water Act in such a way that if you have a ditch, pothole or any area that keeps water on your property, even part of the year could result in EPA fining you if you make ANY CHANGES that affects this area and could even RESULT in them TAKING YOUR LAND! This is nothing but an EPA 'LAND GRAB' at it's best. I URGE everyone to read this article and phone, e-mail and write your Louisiana U.S. Representative and Senators (I posted how to contact them on my Home page) and URGE them to BLOCK this EPA proposed rule.
I also posted the article on the website's 'Current News' page so it will not be lost. The website is:

P.S.: We finalized the Chalmette Refining Petition with 1,042 signatures. I sent it off the my printer today and will mail a copy to each the Chalmette Refining Manager (ExxonMobil Refinery) and also to the ExxonMobil CEO. Later I will also mail a copy to Louisiana's U.S. Representatives and also our U.S. Senators after the Dec 6th runoff election.

WE NEED ABOUT ANOTHER 30 SIGNATURES READERS!
I am asking for your help one last time readers. Since I have about 100 petitioners who did NOT provide their correct address (most DID NOT provide ANY address information, some did NOT list their street number and others listed a P.O. Box address), we're about 75 short of the 1,000 signatures goal.
I have e-mailed these petitioners THREE TIMES, and to date, 70 have still NOT replied. I have therefore RE-OPENED the petition to see if we can get another 100 hundred signatures so we can wind up with at least 1,000 signatures.
PLEASE tell all your friends who may have not signed the petition already. Also, include your SPOUSE.....if he/she does not also have a separate e-mail address, then list his/her name on the 'First Name' line with yours and I'll separate it.
The petition is on my website - look for the ORANGE button 'Sign Petition Now' on the right:
www.PeteLandrysRealGas.com
Again, THANKS for your help readers!
'Pete'
I finalized the Chalmette Refining Petition last week with 1,060 signatures. I expected we'd see maybe 50 or so signatures who did NOT list their address. The actual number was 105!
I sent e-mails to all 105 readers who signed the Petition but FAILED TO LIST THEIR ADDRESS, essentially invalidating their petition. To date, I have received ONLY 22 replies. So, I still have 79 signatures who did NOT reply to my e-mail sent to them last week. If you signed the petition and don't recall if you put your address in it, PLEASE check your e-mail and reply with your home address so I can complete the petition and mail it to the Chalmette Refining Manager and our Louisiana US Senators and Representatives.
Thanks for your assistance.
'Pete'
READERS: PLEASE HELP ONE LAST TIME!
I'd really like to have at least 20 MORE Petition signatures so that in the event I have 50 signatures that DID NOT list their address and I can't get a reply from them to provide me their address, we'd still have 1,000 signatures on the Petition.
If we reach 1,000 valid signatures, I'll close the petition and prepare the spreadsheet to mail to the Chalmette Refining Manager and also to our Louisiana's U.S. Senate and Representative delegation.
If you have not signed onto the Petition, please do so by going to:
www.PeteLandrysRealGas.com
and look at the right hand side of the home page. Click on 'SIGN PETITION NOW'. When you click this orange bar, it will open a form for completing the petition. PLEASE complete ALL lines in the form. After completing the form, click the orange bar again to complete the form. Then, check your e-mail as the petition software will automatically send an e- mail to your e-mail folder. When you open this e-mail, PLEASE click on the link provided to VALIDATE your petition. Then, you're done!
THANKS for your help with this project. Hopefully, it will do some good and have Chalmette Refining management re-consider resuming the manufacture and sale of ethanol gas from their refinery in Chalmette.

HELP READERS!
We now have 1,025 names on the petition. I'd like to get at least 25 more since some people who signed up didn't list their address. We'll STOP after get 1,050 and prepare the petition to mail to Chalmette refining Manager and our Louisiana U.S. Senators and Representatives.
PLEASE tell all your friends who may not be aware of the petition to sign up.
ALSO, if you have not read the letter I mailed to ALL LOUISIANA REFINERY CEOs REGARDING AVAILABILITY OF NON ETHANOL GAS IN LOUISIANA, please read it on my website.
I mailed the letter to each CEO of all crude oil refineries which are currently operating a refinery in Louisiana. Especially note the paragraph about what I learned about non ethanol gasoline availability in Nebraska and Iowa. These two States DO NOT have a single refinery in their States, AND, they are the largest volume manufacturers of ethanol in the Country, BUT, they offer their consumers BOTH ethanol AND non ethanol gasoline at EVERY station in their States. I first learned this when a friend and I attended the NCAA Baseball College World Series in Omaha in 2009. The letter is found on my website's 'Pete's Articles' page at
www.PeteLandrysRealGas.com
AND, please CONTINUE to sign up for the Petition if you have not already done so.
THANKS for your support in this important cause!

Readers, our Chalmette Refining Petition is now at 960 names. I certainly had hoped we'd be well over 2,000 by now. However, when we reach about 1,050, I think we'll call it quits and publish the petition. I'd like about 50 above 1,000 as some did not fill in their address and I'll have to e-mail them to please send in their address.
SO, PLEASE continue to talk up the petition so we can reach the 1,000+ names soon.
ALSO, I'll announce when I post a letter which I have completed the first draft of today. It is addressed to the CEO's of every Oil Refinery which has facilities in Louisiana. I'll announce when I have completed the letter and posted it on our website.
If you are new to this petition, please click on my website:
www.PeteLandrysRealGas.com
then look for the ORANGE bar directly opposite my picture on the Home page. The bar is titled 'Sign Petition Now'. Just click on this bar and follow the instructions on the page it opens. PLEASE, don't forget to complete EVERY line on the form.
NOTE: The petition CANNOT be done on a smart phone. Thanks for your help!

CHALMETTE REFINING PETITION
We REALLY need everyone's help on this petition readers. As of Thursday (8/14) afternoon we ONLY have 813 signatures. It's getting somewhat frustrating and starting to make me ask myself why did I ever start this petition if there is so LITTLE support for it?
PLEASE tell all your friends and neighbors about the petition and URGE them to sign on. ALSO, please continue to call the Chalmette Refining phone numbers I list on my website. It they don't hear from us anymore, they will conclude the 'Public Outcry' is over and will NEVER go back to manufacturing and selling non ethanol gas.
My website is www.PeteLandrysRealGas.com
When you open the website and see the 'Home' page, just look to the right of my picture and you will see the ORANGE bar which reads 'Sign Petition Now'. Just click on it and it will open a form and instruction on completing the form. It's IMPORTANT that you complete EVERY LINE in the form for the petition to be valid.

See from your Profile that you live in LaPlace, I do also. Have you called The Boat Doctor in Harahan? He used to write a monthly article for Louisiana Sportsman for years. He stopped writing his articles about two years ago. Here is his info:

He has a good reputation. I'd call to see if he will work on this engine.

The dirty water in Lake DeCade is NOT, repeat NOT from the dredging. The dredge operates EVERY year in DeCade to re-build the levees. You may have noticed that they have put 'rick rack' along a long portion of the South shore. Whenever the Mississippi River gets to 12.5 feet on the Carrollton gauge, river water starts coming into Lake DeCade.
I discussed this with the Corps of Engineers in New Orleans about 5-6 years ago when we would start to see River water in DeCade. They told me that the reason was DEFINITELY caused by the high River gauge. They put me in touch with the Manager of the Old River locks in New Roads. He gave me the computer link to see the flow through the Old River Structure. He told me that they measure the flow and water velocity for both the Red River and the Mississippi River. When the flows and velocity reach a pre-determined level, he told me they begin to increase the pumping rate through the Old River Structure into the Atchafalaya river. Further south, where the Atchafalaya meets the Houma navigation canal (there is a lock there but he told me it is ALWAYS open), the water enters the Houma navigational canal and enters Lake DeCade through Minors canal and other sources. It happens EVERY year, but usually not until mid to late February. The high River levels this year were VERY EARLY.
I fish Lake DeCade every fall. From my experience, the speckled trout fishing in Lake DeCade is GONE for this Jan/Feb.
Anyone who would like the links to monitor this, see the links below:
NOAA LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER STAGE FORECAST
LINK: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/lmrfc/?n=lmrfc-mississippiandohioriverforecast
Look at the bottom of this forecast table for New Orleans (Carrollton gauge). Look under the ?River State Forecast? header to see the dates. When this New Orleans Carrollton gauge goes above 12 feet, we've found that, combined with the over 200,000 cfs Old River Structure flow rate into the Atchafalaya River is when we start to see River water in Lake DeCade. It is running over 500,000 currently.
OLD RIVER STRUCTURE PUMPING FLOW RATE
LINK: http://nwis.waterdata.usgs.gov/la/nwis/uv?cb_00065=on&cb_00060=on&format=gif_stats&site_no=07381482&period=&begin_date=2014-12-01&end_date=2015-01-30
On this page, under the table titled Available Parameters, select the 00060 Discharge by checking that button to give you the flow rate. Then on the Output Format table, select Graph w/stats button.
Next, under Days, click Begin Date and select the start date where you want to start the graph (click the right arrow button to advance to the date you want to start the graph)..I usually select the last 6 months. On the End Date, select the current date. Then click the GO button and it will plot the graph. Any flow BELOW 200,000 CFPS (cubic foot per second) usually means there is not enough flow to put river water in Lake DeCade.
The Old River Structure measures the flows through both the Red River and the Mississippi. When the flow rates reach a prescribed rate as determined by the Corps of Engineers, they start increasing their pumping rate. This discharges through the Atchafalaya River. There is a lock where the Houma Navigational Canal links with the Atchafalaya river, but the lock is ALWAYS OPEN. That?s how river water gets into Lake DeCade. I got this info from the Corps of Engineers office in New Orleans years ago.
Hope that helps answer your question.

I called that WalMart and they could NOT give me a phone number for this station at their store on O'Neil Lane. I did a google search and it doesn't show up. It's apparently new store and gas station.
If anyone goes back to this station, could you please e-mail me the Murphy station address and phone number so I can add this station to my list of non-ethanol gas stations to my website. E-mail to way2gopeteyahoo.com

Thanks,

GOOD for you 'Bullcoon'. I ONLY fish in the fall/winter/spring months. TOO damn hot to fish in the summer.
Besides, I catch all I want and need in the fall months.
'Pete'
For the last 5 years fishing in Lake DeCade, my fishing buddy and I have caught our 50 two man limit 90% of the time. Does that say my 'technique' is bad??
'Pete'
Went on Nov 4th and caught 2 man limit of 50. Tried second time the week after and only caught 18. A friend of mine went earlier this week and only caught 20...........trout have NOT yet come in in large quantities it appears.

There was a thread on Louisiana Sportsman a few years ago with hundreds of Express aluminum boat owners who experienced weld cracking problems. Not was that bad enough, but to get the cracks repaired, owners had to ship the boat back to the manufacturer's factory. Many reported that they didn't get their boat back for 6-9 months.
Also, others reported pitting pin holes in the bottom of the hull, later traced to the 'yellow wood' treatment on the runner timbers. Apparently the corrosive treatment soaked the carpeting on the runners and caused pitting holes in the hull where it sat on the runners. Some users reported they put teflon strips on the runners to prevent the hull from sitting on the runners.
I don't know how long Louisiana Sportsman keep their forum pages, but you may try to see if you can find this thread.
'Pete'
Sorry I misunderstood your post Capt. When you said your 'Sam's' card, I assumed you purchased the gas at a Sam's club...........my error. Thanks for the info.
'Pete'
Capt, when I do a computer search for a Sam's Club on O'Neil Lane, I get nothing. There is a Sams on Coursey Blvd, but I can't find one on O'Neil? I do realize that all of Sam's Club and WalMart gas stations are operated by Murphy Oil.
'Pete'
Captain, did you buy this gas at a Wal-Mart gas station? Not sure I understood the post. I know that MOST Wal-mart gas stations are supplied by Murphy, but I have NOT run across one that sells E0.
'Pete'
Sapp_Ray:
I suggest you look for an old thread (maybe 2-3 years old) if it is still on this website on discussions from MANY welded aluminum Express boat owners who learned of several VERY SERIOUS issues. Many developed cracks and leaked and these owners who had this problem went through a NIGHTMARE as they had to send the boat back to the Express factory to be repaired. AND, if it was outside of warranty I believe the owner had to pay shipping costs. Then, it took them 9 months to a year to get their boat back after repairs.
There was later discovered another MAJOR issue. The aluminum bottom developed 'pitting corrosion' on the bottom of the hull from the aluminum sitting on carpeted timbers treated with the new rot resistant treatment which caused CORROSION that pitted the bottom of many hulls. Some owners installed the teflon strips on the carpeted runners so the boat would sit on the teflon rather than the carpet which apparently absorbed the corrosive timber treatment.
How many Sportsman readers remember this thread? If had something like 100 replies and had nearly 2,000 readers if I recall.
'Pete'
I spoke with Falgoust Marina last week and they told me that fishermen are starting to catch 'a few' in Decade, Mechamp and Raccorcia, but NOT limits yet. It won't be long because the water temperature is 74 in my swimming pool.
'Pete'
Have you tried the AC Delco Voyager batteries before? Many fishermen use them and get 3-4 years service if taken care of. There is a parts place in Kenner that has them for good prices. Just one block off Airline on east side of airport. Think they're called 'Bumper to Bumper'. Way cheaper than AGM batteries and NO maintenance.
'Pete'
I tried this cork.....my opinion? TRASH!
'Pete'
Guys, I understand your comments on the possibility of a River diversion through Lake Manchac and Lake Ponchartrain, BUT, you may recall that on several ocassions when the Bonne Carre Spillway was opened for 20 - 30 days in recent years, large algae layers were found in Lake Ponchartrain after the spillway closing. Don't you think a diversion above Lake Manchac would also cause an algae zone in Lake Ponchartrain in summer months??
'Pete'
I spoke with Anthony Puglia at Puglias today about how many Mirrorlure fishermen had called to place their order for the 'Halographic' sided hot pink sinking Mirrorlure. He indicates he has a little over 15 orders. He needs quite a few more in order to place an order for a minimum of 60 baits.
If you are interested in buying this bait on a special order, PLEASE call Puglia's at 504-837-0291 and give Anthony your name, phone number and how many of the new S52MRHP Mirrorlure.
'Pete'
Yes Tony, I find the holographic side new Mirror Lure look much more like a small mullet than the old ones. I torched specks year before last with the S52MREC (Electric Chicken) one. I found it worked much better than the older electric chicken one I used to used. The new holographic side 'Hot Pink' slow sinker looks GREAT. I'm anxious to try it this fall. 'Pete'
