Whats good to treat Sand Fleas? Have a niece in bootcamp and was wondering what could I send her to help her.
Saturday morning, Im going to take my son on his first hunt for this year. He's 12 yrs old, Hes gonna be on crutches due to two broken bones in his foot from a football game. He just wont stop bugging me to take him, Ive tried to blow it off as much as I can but I suppose its time to do it. Yall wish him luck, I wished he could kill one considering he hasnt never killed one. First squirrel he killed was several years ago and I know how excited he was over it so I can just imagine how happy he would be over a deer, with or without horns.
Does anyone grind their deer up? If so How much beef fat do you add and how is it afterwards? Finished deboning my deer gonna have it processed tomorrow. We ususally get it all turned into sausage but since Ive killed two this season we dont need two bundles of deer sausage. Thanks, Kimberly
Last day of the season, wasnt expecting to see nothing considering I sat there from daylight till 11am that morning then from 2:30 till dark that evening. As I got up to leave, I took about 5 steps and turned around and saw her staring at me. I wasnt about to move first, I let her move before me. When she started walkin away I took one step to my left to have a clear path, and fired. As you can see I got her. I figured I missed considering it was a fast throwup and shoot. I went to where I thought she was standing when I shot and saw just a very small speck of blood, then I knew I actually hit her. Hubby taught me how to search for a blood trail, so I kept looking the more I looked the bigger the spots became. Guess it was about 75yrds in the biggest briar patch anyone has ever seen, where I found her laying in a hole. Not only was she in a hole she was laying on her head, guess she broke her neck when she fell. As bad as the briar patch Im glad she broke it considering she made me go in there after her. All I can say is Thank you to my husband for giving me a great place to hunt & for teaching me everything you have taught me.
Took this one right before dark this evening. .243 Ballistic tip SilverTip Winchester. 95grain. BRING ON THE HATE MAIL . PLEASE
This is the only one I have seen on my food plot, small but Im VERY PROUD. While I was process of searching for this one my son shot at one on his stand, Going back in the morning to see if I can find it. I didnt see no sign of blood or nothing where he said she was standing when he shot it, but still gonna go see if he did get her....Well I went looking this morning for his deer he shot at, but no luck of finding anything. He was very upset and disappointed but as I told him, Its always another day and another time for your time to shine.
I have three live oaks in my yard and all of them have acorns but only one of the three trees are covered with bees every day. Most of them look to be some type of honey bee, the others range from red wasp, carpenter bee, dirt dobbers and even a couple of very large hornets. I would estimate there is probly 2000 honey bees and a couple dozen wasp and other type of bees. They seem to be concentrating on the small acorns all over the tree. They all seem to leave come dark thirty but the tree is full again come light of the next day. The only thing this tree has had different than the other two live oaks is the amount of fertilizer that was put on the yard this year. Does anyone have any ideas whats going on with all these bees?
I want to go on a Duck Hunt, where I can actually shoot at a darn duck. Hubby is working his tail off trying to find someplace but I don't think he has had no luck as of yet. Anyone gonna let me go hunting with them, haha.
I wanna go fishing. All these posts makes me want to learn how to launch husbands boat by myself. Think he would like that? Going to buy me the plug n play game of fishing so I can fish any time I wanna fish, lol. Oh husband of mine guess where we are going Firday when you get home.
Thats the guy the ol lady here in DeRidder told me about, I told you everything. Where and how much, Remember........
Yea he sucks, His hunts are garbage with no birds in shooting distance. He said he was going to give us another hunt for free since that was a bad one and three years later, guess what, Still to this day NOTHING.
First off I make sure I pee before I leave the house. Second off, If I have to pee before I leave I hold it till I cant hold it no more then make a escape from my stand to go pee.
Third, Some of us women could out hunt some of you guys, so nah nah boo boo.
Ive gotta stand up for our women rights, guys dont get upset and start whinning, LOL.
Had the living crap scared completely outta me the other day also, Gotta tell yall this, lol.
Around 11 or so in the morning, decided to go ahead and leave but first wanted to check out my corn to see if anything had been in it. While I was standing looking down at my corn laying on the ground I happen to look up and saw a doe (or what I took to be a doe) looking at me. By the time I got my gun off my shoulder and scope on her she was running TOWARDS me. I was scared to death. Biggest thing I could aim for was her head at the time or what I guess I saw first in my scope. I fired, she darted off to my left. I was so scared I couldnt get my empty hull out and reloaded fast enough till she came hauling ass back across the lane I hunt. I walked around where I shot at her at to make sure I didnt hit her, couldnt find no blood at all. Kinda glad I didnt kill her because I was still scared shi*less. On my way out I called my hubby to tell him what just happen, he laughed at me and said this, "She either had a little one nearby or she thought I was a small buck" I thought WTF a small buck. Never heard of no such crap in my life. Hope you guys gets a laugh outta my story, I know my 72 yr old father, sister almost choked down laughen, and hubby still laughes, What can I say besides "IT HAPPENS"
I took him, Friday evening, Sat. morning and evening, Sun morning and evening. Hes a trooper I have to say. Off on the crutches he went all 5 times and not a word of complaint. Saturaday evening when it was past shooting time he stood up to leave and saw a doe standing in a blind spot he was sitting in. She saw him quicker than he saw her. By the time the threw up his shotgun to shoot she was already gone. He shoots a 12ga. automatic his very own gun he bought from my sister for $100 bucks, She wouldnt make the deal with noone else but him.
I can only imagine of getting a 8pt that big. Seems I cant get past a 5pt. Congrats
Thats GREAT, I think its wonderful and I LOVE to see other female hunters. Look out guys the girls are gonna take over.
As DeRidder Chapter was saying about what I heard and saw while I was hunting at a WMA.
The WMA where I hunt has wild horses roaming around freely. That evening about 30 minutes before dark I heard something that which at the time I thought was a lady scream. I thought what the hell would a woman be doing screaming out here unless she was lost.I didnt give it to much thought until about 3 minutes later I heard it again, then the horses that was nearby (up where I parked my truck) went freaking bonkers. I said to myself the hell with this Im outta here. Walking back to my truck the only thing I could think of was seeing whatever kinda black looking creature run across the road in front of me the weekend before around 8pm. Needless to say my pace was faster the more I thought. I didnt say nothing to noone after I returned to my parents house about what I heard, the only one who would have beleived me would have been my Father. The next morning after my morning hunt I was fixen to leave to go back into the woods when my oldest brother ask me where did I hunt at the day before. My sister was standing there at this time when I told him where I was at. She made the comment that she was in the same location as I was. When she said that I ask her if she heard any kinda strange noise that evening. She said yea she thought she heard a woman scream. When she said that I knew that I wasnt hearing things for sure then. I told her I heard it twice, she only heard it once. My brother started laughin as if he thought we was making up this. My Father which is 70 yrs young has seen cat tracks and places where its scratched the sides of trees as tall as he is, hes 6'1" roughly. I have no doubts in this world not to believe my Father, I have never known the man to lie. So Mr. Charley, Your story to me was true. I did laugh about it when you stated that you turned and ran to the boat. Hopefully if you go back you can blast it into smitherings. I really enjoyed hearing your stories on here. Keep it up
Way to go...pretty good for a 10 year old. im shocked.
My 14 yr old daughter wrote that, I went outside to smoke after I showed her that a 10 yr girl killed her first deer. Ive been tryin to get her to go hunting with me but she just doesnt care about killing animals. Maybe oneday she will get into hunting if she keeps seeing other kids doing it.
Man you mean to tell me I have to cook the stuff now. Dang I have to do it all, kill, clean and now cook. Womens work is never done, lol. Just joking, I was planning on cookin it anyways.
I think it would be a wonderful thing. 12 yr old son has bugged the living crap outta me about him taking it. Im not driving 30 minutes one way to Leesville for him to take it.
Maybe oneday I will hear of them offereing it in DeRidder and be able to let him go. Seems like they only offer it right before deer season here. I personally think they should have it every two months just so ppl who wants it can be able to get it before season is here.
Last couple of years I put out rice bran with my corn, didnt this year. But my pt is that the last two years the deer I killed had a strong smell to them, enough to make you almost start vomiting, lol. Its bad when you start laughen and gaggin at the same time. Hubbys buddy was complaining last year about how bad the 5pt I killed smelled. It wasnt in rut or anything, just wrong place at wrong time. I havent never killed nothing running, mine has always been feeding
Man you betta know where your bread is buttered. Besides we will see who is what because the next kill will tell it all.
I would go get another one if season was still open over here, but Thanks for the comments. Hubby come-on I'll show you Im the B-Slayer, lol.
Rem 700 youth is what I use, Its very light weight and wont drag you down while walking. Its short and sweet.
Camo Bikini on next one I kill, lol, just joking. Besides dunno how hard I will hunt because hubby isnt here to clean it for me, LOL, (he knows I love him). I agree with whoever said its brown its down, I feel the same exact way. With all the rugrats we have running around it sure does help out with the groc. line. Now whos gonna be willing to come help me clean em if I kill another one, LOL.
Congrats Courtney, Glad to see another girl hunting. Hope you get many many more in your young age.
I really like my 243, Isnt to big nor is it heavy. Going back again this coming weekend to see if I cant get another one. Good luck to all!!
I would wet myself if a Buck that big walked out on me. I would prob be shaking so bad that I wouldnt hit the broad side of a barn, but I sure would give it a try.
Yup, that was him. 300 per bird. Had to put half down when we took them to him. He's in Sulphur
