The LDWF is going to close waterfowl hunting north of HWY 90 in pearl river WMA next year during flood stage, They are doing this under the guise of not stressing deer along HWY 11 during floods. However, if you've been out there you know that HWY 11 is a steep banked 20' wide strip that is all paved. Please call or write in and voice your displeasure with this resolution. Even if you don't hunt pearl river, we need to stand up for our access rights. THE LDWF point of contact is Tommy Tuma, LDWF Wildlife Division, P.O. Box 98000, Baton Rouge, LA. 70898-9000 or 225-765-2349 or by e-mail at ttuma@wlf.la.gov. the link to the resolution is mid way down this page http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/news/43230
Can someone who has had pilings driven for a raised camp, 20ft, comment on the cost of just the pilings and installation in the delacroix/reggio/shell beach area. Wondr what it costs for the pilings and cross bracing to have a trailer set on top of? Thanks
anybody been doing any good on woodcock? I tried big branch on Saturday and Sherburne Sunday and didn't flush a bird???? Didn't see any other hunters either day? that was my first time in each area. Are there any open fields anywhere on Sherburne?
Anybody got any reports of fishing out of reggio recently?
I know its a long shot, but I am headed to NE Montana to freelance for upland birds this year in October if anyone has hit that area before, info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Does anyone fish crappie in canarvon. Have enjoyed bass fishing there, but would like to try crappie as well, but never hear of anyone fishing them.
I have a new pup for this year and am looking for places to run her on woodcock within 2 hours of the city. Any have a line on good public places. my email on this site works, if you would rather email me, Thanks
I can't find anything regarding opening weekend hours in the regulations. Can we hunt the mornings on opening weekend for doces or just from noon to sunset.
I received a citation for hunting in a closed area, for hunting Pearl River during flood stage. Neither the warden nor the sheriff's office would provide any info on how much this might cost. apparently court is mandatory, Does anyone have any info on this?
if you look at the carryover of specklebellies wintering in SW LA, the lack of appropriate agrictultural land refuges, and the tremendous pressure, mark my words, 3 birds will lead to Gueydan/welsh/Klondike hunters talking about specklebellies the way SE LA hunters talk about mallards. 'Yeah they used to come down here' now they stay on refuges in the Midwest.
the mallards look like Mitchell lafrance, I need to see better pics of the side profile of the pintail. Also is the pintail flat bottomed? Are you looking to sell them?
my son is two and I'm chomping at the bit, at what age do you like to start them hunting?
I'm fairly sure that short stopping is not the issue. At least not this year. it is cold and late enough that all the non greenheads should be here. I am pretty sure that the duck surveys are being falsely inflated in order to keep the season at the liberal settings which makes for more hunters and more $$$$ for the hunting states. The government has added transect lines to the surveys and fixated their surveys in the higher population areas, without altering their extrapolation formulas. This allows them to come up with a higher estimate of the breeding duck #s and set the season accordingly.
which boat were you looking at on their website. here is the same boat on their site http://www.privateerboats.com/1600_image3.htm
that is a small privateer made in north carolina
rather than just emailing, it would be worth calling goldsby if you are serious. heck of a nice guy, and great trainer with awesome facilities.
what made you sure it was a barrow's and not a common
i wonder how thick the trout were when he was down there?
would you mind telling me which foxpro you have and if you are happy with it.
thanks
Man, that kudu and impala both look world class. What type of zebra is that with the ghost stripes between the black stripes? Nice hunt, did you shoot any francolin or guinea or dove?
can you please tell these erosion laws to all the people i pay oil royalties to on land that no longer exists?
if i hit that record mega millions jackpot, i'll be making you an offer you can't refuse.
in general its not advisable to refurbish or repaint old decoys, as it kills their collector value. However if you aren't worried about value and are just worried about hunting them, there should be no harm. the best sealant is spar varnish which available at Lowe's. Due to 2 or 3 coats. Then paint with arcrylic paints from an art store. Jansen's are probably the best arcrylic.
they do field hunts as well. I train my spaniel there sometimes.
there is a super nice place on teh North Shore called Covey Rise. They have guides/dogs/guns, and are really nice.
brandon do you have any more pictures or info on this builder? What do these boats run price wise?
