I am told that there were several Oil Platforms, Old well Heads &/or other Oilfield Sites within the Tiger Shoal area that have been removed in years past. I am interested to know if you have the coordinates for some of these sites and their removal dates(or estimated dates)? My reason is, Im assuming there is still some sort of rock or shell pad left behing which might be good for fishing.
Can anyone give me a lesson in 'Fishing neat Shrimp Boat - Etiquate' ?
Fishing out of Fourchon to Venice in 24' CC. Intetested in trying this fishing technique but want to do it the right way.
Please give info like... Do I contact the boat by radio to ask permission? How far to keep away from boat, both at anchor & when trawling? Anything else I should know...
As many responders I can hear from...all the better.
I was given a shrimp trawl. I want to know how to measure it to determine what size it is. Also, how do I measure the webbing size?
My computer crashed & I lost my Edge files. Can I get then sent to me again? Or do I need to purchase them again?
I had the Calcasieu Lake & the Leeville (West) Edge files.
Not sure where to post this...
Does anyone know where there is a Boat Salvage Yard ( like a junk yard) that people can go to to buy used parts off of old boats?
Looking for S. Louisiana area???
Is there a single unit with a 5 to 7 inch screen that I can get for GPS & fishfinder then later add Radar?
I would like to stay less than $800 if that is possible.
I attempted to search through all the manufacturer websites but found that I don't know enough technical jorgan to determine what I need.
Looking for a used Pro Sp[orts Bay Kat 2150.
Can anyone give me a few pointers or direct me to a deecent place to start in the Catahoula District or Little Creek WMA. I will try to hunt Little Creek this weekend with my son. I have never been to either place before. So, if I don't have any luck in Little Creek, I will try in Kisatchie.
Any info. would be helpfull.
Looking for information.
Is there oil boom around West Timbalier island or any of the islands in that area?
Also, can you tell me anything about camping on the island? Is it accessable for that activity & what should I know before I go there?
Duck hunting this year in Lacassine has sucked! I think there are more hunters than ducks. Every time we went this year, there were hunters where we tried to hunt...and more than one group of them.
The ducks that we did see, came just out of shooting distance then would flare off & head elsewhere. There is so much sky blasting by everyone that all the ducks are VERY call & decoy shy.
Went to the reserve yesterday & only saw t small bunched of ducks in the marsh. I don't know where they went, but it isn't here.
Good luck to anyone trying to hunt Lacassine. You can have my spot. LOL
In reference to a post from you concerning reef coordinates in Calcasieu Lake posted on LADWF website. You indicated that they were probably useing NAD 27 Datum. I have a Garmin GPSmap60Cx. When I go into the "Setup" & then into "Units" to change the Map Datum setting, there are several "Nad 27" choices... they are:NAD27 Alaska, NAD27 Bahamas, NAD27Canada, NAD27 Canal Zn, NAD27 Caribbn, NAD27 Central, NAD27 CONUS, NAD27Cuba, NAD27Grnland, NAD27 Mexico, & NAD27 San Sal...
Which one do I use?
By the way, I just purchased the Calcasieu Lake map from you. I can't wait to use it tomorrow...
I know the locations will probably be on the program i purchased but I still would like to know this info...
Here are the results of the youth lottery hunt at Sherburne. First and foremost...I have to applaud the volunteer guides that helped out these kids. These guys dedicated their time to scout, locate, & keep up with turkeys just so these kids would have a great time. The guides that helped us this weekend were Lyle Taylor from Leonville & Garrett Perkins from Elizabeth. Lyle guided Ben (11) & Sara (12) at Sherburne (one Satruday & one Sunday). Garrett guided Brandon (14 - not pictured) at West Bay on Saturday. Ben & Sara had awesome hunts at Sherburne thanks to Lyle. Brandon didn't kill at West Bay but he tells me he had a blast. According to Garrett, the group of turkeys that he roosted for Brandon got spooked out of the area after they flew down by a small heard of hogs that ran their way making a lot of noise....that happens....and that's hunting. Even though they did not all kill, they all had equal excitement & fun. I think these guys from the NWTF who volunteer to find & guide these kids are awesome.

My wife, a friend, & myself took outthree childern on a youth deer hunt this past Saturday. Their ages are 11, 12,& 13. The youngest boy(11) & the girl (12) both killed their first deer that day. The oldest boy(13), killed two. This hunt was on private land out of box stands & over food plots. What are the chances that three siblings would go hunting together on the same day and all kill deer? I think this is awesome and our kids had a blast...
Firts time turkey hunters Michael Baquet and son Brandon (13) from Eunice had an awesome father/son hunt on March 18th, the opener for the Louisiana youth Turkey season. We roosted a gobbler the day before and set up in a ground blind the next morning what I thought was about 100 yds. away from him. This Tom flew straight into the decoys just 25 yds. from the blind after a little sweet talking from a custome box call made by Curtis Lawrence of Elizabeth (Brandon's Great-Uncle). Brandon made the clean kill at 6:15 a.m. at a distance of 25 yds with a Remington Youth 20 ga. & Federal #6, 3" Turkey Load. We were both very excited and Brandon said..."That was easy, I like Turkey hunting. Now you need to kill one next weekend." I had to laugh...but he was right, it was a very easy hunt and very exciting to hear that Tom gobble over & over again and then to respond to my calling and fly into our decoys. He hit the ground strutting and all it took was a cluck to make him go out of strut and pick up his head for the shot. Brandon killed the turkey on our lease between Elizabeth & Pitkin. The bird weighed 19 lbs., sported a 9" beard & 5/8" spurs. He scored a 49.5. We plan on making a nice fan mount and eating the bird.
