Why cant smallmouth live in Louisiana? My wife asked me this question and I can't give her a good answer, and I have read a lot of information online. It seems to me Toledo Bend and Sabine River have the necessary conditions.
Anacoco lake will be lowered 18 feet to dig sediment off of the lake bottom in order to improve the lakes problems with being too muddy. I don't believe this will help. I think the problem is due to runoff from logging. Also, it has always been muddy. What could be done to improve water conditions.
As far as vegetation goes are cattails a good or bad thing to have in a body of water? Seems like it would be good as far as providing cover for baitfish and also bass. But cattails grow in shallow water so does that take up nesting ground of fish.
I was reading that the state record Bowfin is around 13 pounds.
I caught a Bowfing on a trot line about 10 years ago on Anacoco Lake that was over 30 pounds? I didnt know what the record was at the time or I would have definitely kept it. What is the world record Bowfin?
I know several people in Leesville that claim they catch Small Mouth bass on Toledo Bend. I argue with them of course. So I tell them to go register their catches because they are state records.
I tell them they are catching kentucky bass, at least that is what I call them, creek bass,
Yes their mouth might be smaller but their not small mouth.
Has anyone else heard this before. Are people in Leesville stupid? Or am I?
Have an idea to create structure for white perch using pallets. Does anyone have experience with this or anything else I can use>?
