I was with him when these pics where taken.
dude is trying to rationalize it to us by saying same as if we hit something with our lower unit? we were in kayaks.
i'd say i average 500 yards. i never really need to paddle much farther to find fish. i have one of the cheapest kayaks on the market. pelican castaway. it is really lightweight but im definitely about to upgrade. i wanted to see if i would enjoy kayak fishing before i invested in an expensive one.
feels awesome catching trout and reds from a $200 kayak and get back to the launch and have more fish than 3-4 guys on an expensive bay/bass boat.
i paddled the 'tour du teche' in this kayak. its a race on the bayou teche in breaux bridge. i paddled 65 miles in one saturday. distance isn't really an issue.
closer to the south end of the lake
i was Assuming it was for safety from boats. protection from alligators sounds just as ridiculous. and thanks for the clarification.
Barry, check out fresh water city and rollover. pretty sure you can launch at both of those and it is closer to lafayette than RR. It's very similar water/conditions. Canals connecting to gulf. It's not worth your time if you don't have good tides. watch out. pretty sure rollover has alligators.
i wish. kayaks are not allowed in the Rock.refuge. there are small canals on every corner and the bayboats are blindly speeding around corners. it's recipe for an accident, prolly a good thing they are prohibited.
i hadn't tried yet. i plan to try grand chenier once weather warms up. i think i will stay in the canals versus test the offshore waters. it's just as deep in some of the canals as it is 5-10 miles offshore.
it was filmed with Replay XD. It's not as bulky as go pro. Only about the size of roll of nickels. There aren't as many mounting brackets availabe for the replay but it does everything i need and it was cheaper. Easy to operate and download videos. it worked much better for fishing than for duck hunting. This video was also filmed on the Replay.
Reds
it wasn't that far east, it was near lake Charles in lake calcasieu
That was kinda the idea. We didn't want to give to many landmarks to the exact spot of big lake. It is getting harder and harder to find a spot where the boats aren't piled on top of each other.
used live shrimp. Second track was a band called The Black Keys.
I killed it in Catahoula, la. We NEVER see bufflehead. There is a beautiful drake mounted at a friend's camp and this hen looks nothing like it. I prob will mount it to complete the pair. The drake was killed 20 years ago by his dad.
Thanks.
We didn't keep any snapper. It's closed.
