For those of you interested, went out sunday to manchac to do some bass fishing. No luck on the bass but specs were stacked up right by the public launch(average sized)but we caught several 2-3 lb. specs out at the pontchatrain psss with blue moon dudlies on the bottom by the green marker bouy. Not promising a bunch of em but niced size ones for out there.
Just a little something for all the great dads out there http://www.filecabi.net/video/can1986.html. Just copy and paste in your web brouser.P.S. don't click on any of the hotties in the pics.
Well,it happened at the bungle.I guess my motor threw a rod or something. No holes that i can see in block, but surely a knocking sound and it doesn't want to idle at all.Ran a compression check and all but one cyl. good compression.Bad one was 70 psi and rest 120.I don't think i'm going to break this thing open and need somewhere good to bring it that i can trust. It is a 99 model carb. johnson 200 venom.Any suggestions would be great.thanks
Here's an infamous buras cloud noodle.
More bungle pics.
More scenes from the jlt bungle.
Well ,just got home from the jlt - leto bungle. All I can say is wow!Saturday morning showed up at 6:20 at joshuas only to find out we were a little too late to catch up with the crew.No sweat. After quickly trying 2 spots we started hammering huge trout.Shrimp were everywhere and the trout were only happy to make them airborne missles.Just me and my cousin ended the day wit 39 beautiful trout (lost alot more than the 11 it would have taken to get our limit but you know how that goes)and 1 29 inch bull red that I realeased(no room in the cooler).I would like to thank capt. john for the wonderful experience and hospitality.I would also like to thank MR.Mark from Hunt N Fish for the trip in his awesome(oyster blender) shearwater rig.The poor guy probably broke his ankle friday night but stuck around till sunday because he knew he had boatless people there at the bungle thet were depending on him.Anyway it was a blast and was a pleasure meeting everyone there.
Here's a pic from the back deck at the stop.
Wonder how many chicks I could fit in this at the stop?
Going to rigoles tomorrow morning.Last sunday had some success with trout on topwater in the morning,so going again.Last sunday at around 11:oo A.M. headed towards I-10 bridge and noticed large mullet doing cartwheels about 2-3 feet out of the water.Tried sneaking up on them with trolling motor but whatever was chasing them had them moving too fast to stay with them with trolling motor.Saw several large flashes under the mullet for a brief moment.I beleive what I saw was large tarpon but my friend that was with me kept saying it was sharks attacking the mullet. If they are tarpon and I do run into them again can I use any type of artificial lures to entice them?Like top dog, large spoon in crome,or something like that. Thanks and I'll post report back tomorrow.
Will try to go fishing early sunday morning and put in at rigoles landing.I will be taking a freind of mine that hasn't had a good saltwater fishing trip in a long time and want him to do good.I have been there but not real sucessfull.Any advice would be great. Thanks
Ran across this elk farm while in iowa. Not sure if they being raised for hunting or just the meat but they were big animals.
Went on my anual vacation to Iowa last week and did a little bass fishing with my son, brother in law and friends. My son flat out wore them out with his zebco combo and p-line gold mono 15 lb..All fish were caught in a 2-4 hr. period in small backwoods ponds overgrown with moss on public land.Yes there is such thing as public lands in other states besides louisiana.Go out of this state and it will make you sick to see how other states care about their citizens and their land.Anyway all bass were caught on artificial worms in varying colors but most sucess was red shad colors.
Does anyone know if I could pull a 10 foot trawl during the closed season for shrimp for bait or food?If so what is the limit? Thanks
There is a guy on this forum that lends himself unselflishly to the recreational fisherman and I beleive it is shane. Thanks for all of the posts t peoples questions and all of the reports even though all not good but that helps us out alot.My hats off to him and anyone else out there like him.I also want to agnowledge a guide who is also unselfish. That would be capt. john l.Thanks to you to for not rubbing it in too bad on how good you and your clients do every day. Also he provides info that other guides keep hidden.
Here are some pics for gregory of troling motor mounting possibility for his ski boat.It installs and removes in about 1 min. When removed all you can see is the two rubber mounts for motor.
The trout are back at manchac.Fish early morning during tide drop, and fish on the maurepas side of i-55 bridge on bottom tightline avacado colored on bottom.Catching limits for the past week there.
jacob fishing trip
Today I took my wife and kid to bayou beinvenue for some speckled trout fishing. My kid smoked both me and my wife today. He caught the most fish and got big fish award too.Today was his 7th birthday and he got to break in his brand new zebco 220 rod and real combo. We caught behind the bulk plant 10 feet under sliding corks.Later in the day we caught on the south side of the flood gates. We tried the run to seabrook and tried to get out to lake borgne but the wind and waves were too big in borgne. So if you saw a blue sprint zooming all over the place down there today it was me trying to put my son on some fish and for a change all that running payed off. When the sting rays showed up we left, but not before my wife hooked into a huge ladyfish whos aerial acrobatices would impress the fiestest of blue marlin. Then it crapped all over me and my boat like all ladyfish do.
